Loved it quick service arrived late still held my reservation excellent service!
Receiving the meats to grill took some time. Other than that service and food was great.
My wife and I have been here many times. This place is a great place to have good food and fun. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
First time going there. Friendly service, explained the nature of dining very well as it can be a bit overwhelming. Fun ambiance and excellent food. Had a Really good time cooking everything. Will be going back!!
Brought my two nephews and my parents. We had a great time cooking our own meats and marshmallows!
Yummy, fun, and awesome as always!
Restaurant is busy, noisy, hipster like vibe - restaurant in the city - fun place for small group of friends to get together
The meat was average to above average quality, and of course you cook it yourself--so it should be done the way you like. The restaurant was dimly lit--I would have liked a little more light. The salad was quite good. The soup was okay. I had a lunch special and I would say it was quite reasonably priced. I liked the grill feature. Our waiter was very good about refilling drinks and took our order promptly. He also explained how the restaurant worked since my friend had not been there before. I would recommend, but it's not fancy.
Good but cramped for space.
Always generally very happy to visit here, I come a few times a month. Always great, however this time I did not appreciate the hostess, I had a reservation, checked in for it, and she forgot about us and seated a walk in couple before us, and even after we reminded her she showed no remorse or even said simply said sorry. Hostess was Ale. Food was still great, a great value, and our waiter was awesome. Wish I had gotten his name.
My partner and I have been coming to Gyu in Sherman Oaks for over 3 years now. We love it here and eat here probably two or three times a month on average. The reason we keep returning has a lot to do with the quality of the food and the professionalism, and friendliness of the employees at this establishment. We've been waited more than likely by every employee there and not once have we had a bad experience, it may have a lot to do with us being very mellow but it is something many other restaurants lack. When planning to come, definitely make a reservation or call and ask for the wait time. The parking is interesting, however, Valet is very inexpensive and well worth it!
Great place to meet friends and fun dining experience! Reservations are encouraged!
This has been a neighborhood haunt/staple for as long as I've lived in the area. Even prior to my living in Sherman Oaks, I always went to Gyu-Kaku for the most amazing happy hour specials in town. Happy hours at the bar for lunch, or at a table for an early dinner are fantastic values. This is a chain that has earned a great reputation. The wait staff are super friendly. If you are new and get daunted by menu choices, they have a prefix menu for 2 or 4-6 people, or the server will be happy to help you out.
The appetizers are VERY tasty. You could make a meal out of them alone. Their meat selection is savory and I have yet to find something I don't like. Finish off your meal with a s'more on the life fire at the table!
Gyu-Kaku is a unique experience in a warm and friendly atmosphere. I find it to be a special (albeit retail) experience. I look forward to one day trying one of their other locations in Vegas and (especially) on Oahu in Hawaii!
It was great. Service was amazing and the food was delicious
Family members birthday. It was good.
As always, great night at Gyu-kaku. The food was not expensive, reverse happy hour prices, food was good, drinks were good, and service was good.
Always loved the shrimp garlic, its so tasty!
Always great service
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa+
Came out to Gyu Kaku Sherman Oaks on Friday night, overall myself and my lady friend had a great time. My intention was to go for the DineLA menu but I ended up opting for Happy Hour, by far the best decision I made. Food was plenty and great. Only knock about it was even with a reservation placed ahead of time, I did wait, thankfully it wasn’t long. Still have to consider the fact that it was indeed a FRIDAY NIGHT, overall I’d come back and do a repeat, with a reservation of course..
We enjoyed cooking our meal at the table, including dessert.
The Food is always yummy. The wait was a little long considering we had a reservation. But wasn’t a big deal.
Very good!
The food was great, and a great value. We went around lunch time and it was not overly crowded, although the service was not the best. Our waitress didn’t even come say hi for the first 20 minutes, than when we ordered the food was relatively quick (although not as quick as I have seen there before) but it’s a great spot for a fun lunch or dinner, I’d still recommend as this was the first time the service wasn’t on its A game.
It was great! They sang to the birthday boy and gave him a treat to blow out! Great experience!
The Dinr LA menus was great. Good food ,good service
Gyu Kaku is great for a fun group outing. It's a chain restaurant, so the food is crowd-pleasing and pretty consistent. You get some rowdy groups, really varies on the location you go to. The Beverly Hills one is the most chill, so I prefer that. I was however disappointed at the cleanliness of the Sherman Oaks location. Literally everything we touched was sticky (tables, chairs, menus, even the dishes), like it hadn't been cleaned before we sat down. The women's restroom was filthy and there weren't any paper towels. When you're spending $40 per person on dinner, you'd think you wouldn't have to dry your hands on your jeans.
My boy friend and I had a reservation for 10:00pm. We showed up about 5 minutes early and we were told our table would be ready in a few minutes. During that time, something caught on fire and the fire alarms came on and everyone left the restaurant in chaos. We waited outside for about 30 minutes, but during that time not one manager came out to apologize or explain what was happening. The most disturbing part was the employees running to the fire to take pictures and videos and laughing about it instead of helping the confused costumers. After a while the firetrucks showed up and we knew it would be a long time before we could get a table, if even at all, so we gave up and left. I understand that this type of stuff happens, but we were disappointed we did not get some sort of email the next day with an apology that our reservation was not honored. There was no email asking us to come back or offering anything for the trouble we went through (we took an Uber there so that was a waste of money). I would have liked to have been able to give a higher rating as I have heard good things about this restaurant, but since we never got to try the food I am unable to give it a positive rating at this time.
Terrible. Poor management. Dirty. Very very bad
Pretty good service. Food was great. Always kinda noisy.
Great! Always good.
Always great. Some rice was late. Whatever. I love to bring out of state guests here. They love it.
Always a good idea. Definitely the square tables are better than the round for cooking and space. :)
This was the Worst Gyu that my husband and I have ever been to in the UNITED STATES. I would not recommend this area to anyone. The food even tasted different from the others.
Everything was perfect
Gyu-Kaku never disappoints. Great food...great service.
Always a pleasure . Great staff and food
Very very bad. Unfriendly managers. Very poor service. Dirty
they didnt do anything for our anniversary which would have been nice. waiter was way too busy and barely came over so we waited a long time...
I enjoyed the meal very much and it was very reasonably priced for the amount/quality of food we received.
