At first I was disappointed that Gyu Kaku was not longer all you can eat, the lunch deal provided plentiful delicious food for less than the old pricing system.
Our waitress was patient with our endless questions. I will come back again.
They were out of a lot of things. Servers barely checked up on us and our grill was malfunctioning, causing a lot of our meat to burn. When we brought this to their attention, they did not change our table.
Bomb food as always. Was busy and sever was on it!
Compared to other locations this one was a disappointment. Meats lacked flavor and was sat at a table with a broken grill that kept shutting off. We told our waiter several times and the problem was never fixed.
The meat took a long time to get to our table but it was happy hour and the restaurant was busy and it was a great deal. Will definitely go again soon!
I went here previously and I absolutely recommend! Customer service was on point because the lady server was very friendly and helpful. Yesterday’s experience made me reconsider going here because the male server seemed to be in rush constantly. My boyfriend and I felt bad to call him to order at times. After we order something and he brings it over, he doesn’t say what the meats are, he just hurriedly drops it off and leave. My boyfriend and I like the guy, Thomas I believe. He is very friendly and checked up on us twice. I would give this a 5 star but after the customer service, we give it a 3 star.
I was a big fan of this franchise. Not anymore. This this the first time dining at this location. The service was meh. The food was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Oh and parking is a pain.

Service was awful. Did not bring right orders. Not feeling well next day.
Food was very good but service was very poor. Had to remind server multiple times to bring out ordered food which was frustrating to say the least.

Service was sllllloooooooowwww. We almost walked out without paying because we couldn't get them to bring us the bill. $8 to valet park in a strip mall is also outrageous.
Food was outstanding. Service was spotty and some of the food took forever to get delivered. Seemed understaffed due to limited COVID seating. Slow service was also a problem when full staffed so… But, staff was very nice and the food was so good that it’s easy to overlook some service issues…
Service was slow and waitstaff ignored us. Had to ask for utensils twice for forks. Three time’s for knives. Cooking time on kitchen was very sporadic. Had to wait twenty minutes for the rice dish to come out of the kitchen
Men’s restroom needed attention. Menus were greasy and unclean.
Great place to go for dinner with your family or a group of friends.

They were out of most food items. They say delivery issues. Very disappointing!!!
The food and experience is great, but they keep raising their prices and giving you less and less. $10 for 2oz of meat??? $4 for a third of a zucchini? Insane.
Our reservation was at 8pm. We didn’t get seated until 8:40pm. But the lovely host bought us a round of beers as an apology. All in all, this place is still top notch.

MOST FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE EVER! Had a 3 PM reservation for a party of 6 and was not seated until 3:30 PM because they “did not have a table large enough”. I thought the point of having a reservation was to have a table RESERVED. When we were finally seated it took 20 min just to get a drink order, the beer was warm and flat and served in a chipped up plastic mug that looked like it’s been through the dish washer a million times.
It took nearly 30 minutes for the food to come out and it was average at best. They did not have one of the meats we ordered because it was not thawed yet.
From the valet to the servers, the staff was not attentive at all! When I pulled up I made eye contact and waved to the valet and he did nothing! I had to go find street parking a block away and since they took so long I had to leave in the middle of the meal to refill the parking meter. In regards to the servers, we had to ask three times for the check and to order dessert.
Would not recommend at all.
Took the server 12 min to even acknowledge us. They were out of three items we ordered. I had to keep asking for drink refills.
Always great, but they took away the all you can eat menu. I hope they bring it back.

It was a delicious treat to eat inside. Everything was clean, tidy and the food was delivered promptly.
Servers were very slow. We sat for almost 10 minutes after readying to order and we had to called for service many times for missing items. For a great quality food place the service should match the quality of food to make experience much better, but it wasn’t the case this time
I used to love coming to this location pre-pandemic. I was so jazzed to see that dine in was open. I've dined in twice now at the Sherman Oaks location within the same month. The first time, the hostess was really nice. Our server (a guy) was pretty nice at first until he got our drink order. After that he was MIA. We didn't even get utensils until our food came and we were just sitting there waiting for him to come by so we could ask for plates and utensils. I just chalked it up to him being the only server for the whole place, until I heard some profanity coming from the booth at the very back. A waitress and who I assume was the manager (since he had a shiny nice gold name tag and black button up shirt on) arguing/yelling at the booth. I assume they were on their break but they stayed there for pretty much the entire hour and half me and my boyfriend were eating, leaving that one server. It wasn't a bad experience but definitely needed more since we barely got service, except for the bus boy. I let it go because I know how tough it is to be in the service industry.
Last night, however, totally turned me off from this location. The host was plain uninterested and explained the rules to me like I was a child. He was not welcoming. He gave us some smoke about a 90 minute limit. We sat at our table for a good 5 mins before our server (Jules, hey girl I remember your name from your terrible attitude) finally came to take our drink order after I made a comment about the 90 minute limit. Her attitude was rude. Like she didn't care about her job.... Then I noticed she was the same server from last time arguing at the booth in the back with the manager. She didn't check on us except for the very end. She got my boyfriend's drink order wrong. She didn't refill our drinks. We literally saw her maybe twice. Manager didn't care to round or ask about service. They only cared about the bigger tables near us.
The worst service ever. Get a new job if you hate yours.

The servers were evidentially on the clock all day and irritated by the time they had to attend us. We received our utensils maybe after the second appetizer came out? Definitely ONLY visiting the topanga location.
When we went, it was a busy Monday night. Our server, Julie, seemed spread pretty thin because she didn't have much time to check on us but we did see she was running around all evening. The food was great. The meats were tender and flavorful. The sides were really good too. The bbq package for 4 was plenty of food for the 4 of us, though I think there needs to be better training on what we are supposed to receive because they forgot to bring us three items. The grills get super hot and the meat gets a lot of flavor from the char. The sorbet dessert was disappointing, they were all different sizes and looked like they had been frozen, thawed and refrozen again. Overall, it was a good experience and we hope to be back soon!
