We love this location! They always have great customer service and do their best to get us seated right away. We go here at least once a month and would definitely recommend it for some hungry meat eaters!

Started a little slow with service and orders coming to the table after ordering but picked up towards the end. Server was nice and attentive. Food was great so my only complaint would be the speed of the food coming out.

Unfortunately there were major delays even with a reservation. It took 15 mins past the reservation time; when finally seated it took 10 mins to get drinks ordered, another 10 mins to get the drinks then another 15 to even get an order taken. For a place where you make your own food; it took 20 mins to get the food to even cook and 15 mins to get rice to eat with the meat. The quality of food is okay but it definitely seems as though something has changed and the service was horrible.

Best table bbq ever! I am in love with this place.
I was eating and cooking wearing my sweater and I was able to wear next day. It wasn't smelling at all.
The service was very fast and good. The waiter was calling me by my name all the time.
I had a a guest can't eat any gluten. They had all gluten free sauces on the table.
The bistro fillet was my favorite. My son liked the ice cream and s'mores the best.

This has become my favorite spot but tonight by far was the worst food was great my waitress was great but the host was terrible the overall handling of everything was terrible made reservations here for 4 o’clock showed up at 3:50 was told would have to wait for a table meanwhile a party of four came in they were told they were booked at 9 o’clock but he told the hostess that they would eat quick so they set them down before we got sat down 10 minutes later we were still standing and it happened again another party of four came in they didn’t have reservations got told they were booked till 9 o’clock next thing you know they were set down because they were also in a hurry going to the same event we were Supercross I finally spoke up and said something then mysteriously our table was available but nothing was said no apology needless to say we were set down at 4:40 with a schedule event at 6:30 in San Diego

They comped me drinks for their screwup... but nevertheless need to report that they don’t honor reservations. We got seated 25 minutes after our reservation time, even though we got there 15 minutes early. And not the first time that’s happened to me there. I use Open Table for the exact reason that I want to be able to plan ahead and not have to wait like this. Open Table should track when their customers get seated and take action against restaurants like this that don’t honor reservations.

Server who helped us at table was great. She was very helpful and nice. Food was good over all good but wish has more explanation of meat on the menu. Reception people wasn’t so helpful. When we entered no one was there to help then after someone show up a bit later, restaurant was pretty empty since it was way before dinner time crowd (4:40pm)but had to wait for a bit to be seated.

Awesome! Loved the food and the service was great! It’s fun to cook your own meat over an open flame and eat it hot right off the grill!
We will be back for sure! The lunch menu is totally doable even on a budget!

We had a double bday coming this week and had an early family celebration. No happy bday was said (which is kind of fine) but we also waited over 25mins to be seated (from the time or reservation (arrived prior to it)). The fire turned off constantly but we learned how to turn it back on pretty fast. So every 3-4 mins we had to make sure that the fire didn’t go off which is not fun when you cook your food over fire... we asked for assistance but were told just to turn it back on... The food was delicious as always, the server was great, so the overall 4 only bcs of the wait and the fire (empty gas balloon?).

My son was home on leave from the Marines and we took him out to dinner for his last night with us. I had made reservations in advance for dinner. We were seated had a shareable table with a low partition separating us from the other table next to us. I asked for something more intimate and was told nothing was available. We were seated at a table you would give someone that had just walked in, not someone who made a reservation in advance. Upon sitting down, we had noticed our cooking tongs were dirty with dried food on them. (This actually has happened to us before). The kitchen was backed up so waited a long time to receive our food. In addition to being backed up, we asked for at several items just to be told you were completely out of! No compensation, no manager to come by, nothing. I asked for water to drink, the first one, had floating back stuff in it and the second the cup was dirty. The overall experience that night was ZERO stars. We all had the ultimate all you can eat and needless to say was not worth the money. I don’t know how you stay in business with rude greeters, dirty silverware and glassware, and run out of every item we asked for. Not to my surprise our waiter informed us that this happens all the time due to ordering issues. Completely dissatisfied with the whole situation. We will never go back!!!!

We brought some friends who had never been there. We ordered the Samurai special for 4 people. Everything was delicious except for the beef sushi that was over rice. The meat was too thick and too tough. Would recommend something more thinly sliced...and a better cut of meat. Other than that, the experience was great and our server was wonderful.

The table the wait person took us to had a BBQ grill that was not functioning properly. I complained to our waitperson. She removed a part for the BBQ and said it would work fine now, but it did not. She came back after I complained again and removed another part, but it did not work. Since there were many empty tables, I told them to move us to another table, but they refused by saying that those tables were for reservations. We had a reservation too, which means to me that they were trying to force us to use a broken BBQ grill so that other customers won't have to deal with the terrible situation that they put us into. They treated us so poorly that I got really upset and started yelling at them. Then, they brought the restaurant manager. As soon as he arrived, he immediately notice the mess with the BBQ grill on our table, and offered us another table. My question is why they did not move us to another table when I requested them to do so for the first time. They forced us to use the broken BBQ table until I yelled at them. I did not enjoy the time I spent there even though the foods were ok. I don't think I will go there again, and I am going to share this poor experience of mine at Gyu-Kaku with my friends.

It was a fun and new experience for my partner and I! The food were delicious, and I loved the vegetables. One thing I would have hoped was that the selection of meats were less marinated. Since most of the marination were the same among most cuts, it would have been more enjoyable if there were less marinated meat, to give us more opportunity to taste it with the sauce or separate from the added flavors.

Overall a great experience. Had an amazing server; Dey was extremely attentive and kind. Thanks!
