Really fun place to come with friends!! Food was good, service was excellent!! Will come again!
We got the samurai. It was the perfect amount of food. Everything was delicious and our server was outstanding.
End of week celebration
We did the all you can eat . Great meal! Gey was our waiter . He was wonderful !
Loved the service, loved the food. An outstanding experience!!!
Excellent food and service!
It was a great experience
It was amazing
Overall Great food and service.
Great food for the value but they ran out of steak and garlic.
This place has the most amazing food! I am a meat lover so being able to test the different kinds was awesome
Our server Danphy or Daphny, the receipt had it spelled Danphy, was super sweet. She knew exactly what to recommend, was extremely courteous and very friendly, always smiling. Atmosphere during lunch was nice and calm, as well as fun, not as crazy as dinner time, that's for sure. Food was amazing except for the garlic noodles, which came with a different type of noodle due to a mistake in the kitchen. Our server told us they had ordered the wrong type so that was all they had that week. We'll definitely be back again!!
Our fried rice came out way too soon before we received our meat. By the time we cooked our meat our fried rice was already cold. Our waitress was nice, she seemed to be new. The food was excellent and cooking our own meat was fun! I plan to bring my Directors here for a team lunch in November.
I've been eating here a lot, and it's usually consistent. However, this last time I went during lunch time when they just open was terrible. My soda was flat because the carbonation machine broke. The couple next to us who was seated a few minutes before us got their food right away, and we had to wait over 10 minutes before we get our food. The grill flame kept going out, so it never got hot enough. They served us day old rice. I can tell because was slight yellow and some of the rice was dry hard. I will go again. I hope that was just bad luck. Rice is cheap. Don't serve day old rice.
Always a fun place with enthusiastic servers. The options are so numerous.
The lunch menu is a fantastic value and delicious!
The food has been consistently good. We were there on Saturday afternoon at 4:45 pm. When we sat down, the server told us that the 4 of the 7 or so beef from the all you can eat was out. In the future, I would recommend that this information is shared at the front so that we didn’t have to wait 15 minutes before we were served and informed to make a decision. At the same time the grill keeps turning off.
Seating is tight, would like more room for our party of 6
Check in from Open Table does not mean much- we usually get seated after all others that have arrived are seated regardless of my reservation time. Food is always great, but then remember we cook it (he he) so it's up to you to cook it well.
It was an ok experience. The Kalbi was the best quality meat out of our entire order. The chicken and pork were ok, very basic. The fried garlic rice was really good. Not sure if it's something we'd do again soon since it's by reservations and we usually decide an hour before dinner that we're going out.
I brought my husband for his birthday dinner. He loved grilling his own Food in japan so I thought this would be the perfect spot. It really was great. The food tasted very good. We had the Samurai meal for 4 people. I would recommend this place to everyone.
Everything was fine except we have to wait 40 minutes even with the reservation...bummer
Great! Only bummer is the All you can eat rules! We had a party of 10, 5 kids and 5 adults. Adults wanted AYCE, Kidd’s would have been fine with meals( trust me the kids meal is enough for them). If they are scared of sharing with the kids.... lame. They actually lost money on us because of this stupid rule. I can see adults scamming, but stop offering a kids AYCE, they don’t eat that much.
Made reservations, wait time less then 5mins, service and food excellent.
Made the reservation same day. Food & service were good.
the music is always too loud, but that is minimal compared to the yummy food.
Our son invited us as he had eaten there before. We got the least expensive all you can eat. Everything was delicious and we will definitely go back.
They are very accommodating with special requests. Food is great! I wish they didn’t take out the wagyu beef from their menu though. Highly recommended for special ocassions!
I have been going there for years. This is the first time I was disappointed with the service, with having a grill that don’t work, with very loud music that to the point I can’t hear my friend talking to me, sticky floor, just a horrible experience to bring a friend to celebrate her birthday I would not recommend it to anybody.
Amazing Atmosphere for client meetings/ luncheon!
Happy hour is also amazing 👌
The weekend lunch menu changed and is not as good for f a value meal than their usual lunch menu. Other than that the food was good.
The kobe beef was not as good as it should be but overall it's worth the buck.
Highly recommend the all you can eat options. Currently my favorite restaurant!
Love it. Great time always.
We enjoy the service and the food. However, the pricing for all you can eat is expensive.
I previously had been to the Gyu-Kaku in Montreal so was eager to try the one in San Diego. Glad there were a few changes to the menu and we enjoyed are meal very much. I will be eating at the Gyu in Cupertino, CA next month and definitely will be returning to the one in San Diego.
Excellent dinner as usual. Great balance of experience, taste, and value. Reservation is def recommended if you want to avoid a 3-4-hour wait on wkd nights.
This place used to be good. Has severely gone done hill. Won’t return
The first thing we noticed is that there was no music and all we could hear was people talking and it was annoying. I normally enjoy the ambiance and the food but it was packed so service was slow and all we heard was taltalk talk right next to us. Bring back the r&b music.
