Gyu-Kaku - Rancho Cucamonga Ratings and Reviews
The meat was tender, juicy and delicious! Good meat due to 21-days of aging. Ambiance was great, music not too loud. Great ventilation where restaurant does not smell or look smoky at all. The flip side is the pricing. Low is premium ($32 for AYCE) then ultimate is $42, and supreme is $57. The meat quality is superb. Service can be a bit slow even though there is a 90 min time allowance, which limits your time if you are on a date and and to chit chat.
Went there for holiday gathering with family and friends. Great service, great food, all you can eat menu for a fair price. Some of the meat was marinated, and oh so good! I like that we grilled our own food, because we can control how we wanted the food cooked. The veggies were also very delicious! They come marinated and wrapped in foil for easy cooking. Dessert was Smores and/or ice cream. We had both.
This was our first visit there (party of 6) and I have to say the menu is a little overwhelming because I knew very little about it and the way food is brought to the table. Because I knew little about the menu, when the food was brought to the table I was a little frustrated because I was new and didn't quite know the names of everything everyone ordered. The waitress was very prompt and nice, I just wished she was a little slower and helped with what each of us ordered a little more. Other than being a rookie and a little confused about the food coming out, the overall experience was fun and the food was simply amazing.
Reservations help cut down wait time during busy times (weekends). Meat always tastes fresh and great seasoning. This time around though, the rice was slightly undercooked. Servers and wait staff did their best with the crowds but it might help if they hired more or had more staff for weekends.
Upon arrival we were told we didn't have reservations even after showing the confirmation. During dinner a waitress and waiter bumbed into each other and dropped sauces and it go all over my boyfriend. Instead of apologise they walked away. A min later they came back and offered to give him beer. Soon after that everyone kept checking on us. The waitress tried playing with our son to makeup for what they did. We finished eating and left right away. Not sure if we will be returning after that.
The food tastes great and it is fun to grill your own food. The happy hour prices -while still astronomical - are a bit lower, so it's worth it for a fun lunch.
The service is beyond slow. Every server acts as if you are a burden as a customer. I cannot overstate how slow and confused every server appears to be.
However, the food is just so good that we continue to go in hopes of at least adequate service!
We went here for a birthday lunch. After reviewing our choices, we decided on the $40 all-you-can-eat menu for everyone (there were 5 of us). We weren't disappointed. Selection was great and we even tried a few items we normally wouldn't have chosen all because it was included (I have a new favorite - Bistro Hanger). Noticed the shrimps seemed larger than we remember from previous visits. Service was superior (in fact, the best we've ever had; multiple people helped; all polite and friendly). Thanks to Gyu-kaku Rancho for making the experience so positive and wonderful. Special thanks to Kayla our primary server.
Interesting "cook it yourself" place. Each table has a "burner" the size of a large frying pan in the center that is shared by everyone at the table. If food is not cooked to your liking one can only blame oneself. The menu is complex. Unless you are 2 or less to a table avoid "all you can eat" options as they are mandatory for all at the table and since the cooking burner has limited space and there is a time allotment for "all you can eat" there will not be enough time for all to cook enough food to make it worthwhile. Imagine (4) people all cooking in the same frying pan. Ingredients were fresh. Service excellent. Limit table to 2 or 3 people and you will enjoy.
The first waitress was great. But than she had to leave. The second waitress didn't even check on us. We had to flag her down more than once. She took so long to collect the bill that we left and didn't end up leaving her a good trip. I usually love coming but her lack of service was horrible.
