Gyu-Kaku - Pasadena, CA
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
Good healthy food options. Wonderful experience to share with friends or family.
Love this place. First experience at a Japanese BBQ. Don't underestimate the fried chicken... It looks dry but it's not at all!! A must eat!
The food is awesome, all the meat and fish are pretty well seasoned. The rice and noodle are even more anazing, I would like to eat those all day long. However, its not cheap for AYCE or set combo, but definitive is the top of the BBQ place in LA in taste. Highly recommanded.
Have not been disappointed in Gyu Kaku since we started coming here for special occasions. The meats are good quality, the beer is cold, the service is great!
Great service from Abby and Nick and the rest of the staff.
Love this place! Food and service always great! We are frequent guests!
We made reservations for Father’s Day. We were seated by the large window so it was really hot and we were sweating from the window heat + grill. Away from the window was much cooler, too bad. We ordered rice but they had none and didn’t tell us until we inquired about it. Waiter said they were making some. Since we came with our kids, rice was really important because they don’t like all the meats. Finally we got the rice but our meal was 90 percent over and we were full. I asked for no pork sausage with the meal but they brought it out 3x to our table. Kind of annoying having to tell 3 different serves that we don’t eat pork and did not want the sausage. Our initial server knew this but after she took our order she came by to say someone else would be our server. Our order included chicken with a cheese fondue. I had never tried it. The server said it was really good. It was not tasty. The waiter asked me what I thought and I said it was not so good. He said it was probably because they forgot the butter. He said other tables who had ordered it before pointed out the butter was missing. Seemed like the staff were all running and couldn’t keep up with tables. At the end they gave us 3 wet naps to wipe with and said they ran out so we had to share.
Excellent service! This was my first visit to this location, our waiter was refreshingly pleasant and accommodating which made this experience a memorable one. My family is looking forward to eating there again.
Been going to Gyu-Kaku for 6 years and I love it! Food is amazing and its a great value, highly recommend it.
Had a great time at Gyu-Kaku tonight. We ordered the "Samurai" meal for our party of 4, it was plenty of food for all of us. The cooking experience was fun, and we all enjoyed the meal. Our server was okay, we had to keep asking for things like napkins, the sauces for the meal, drink refills, even the water. Minor inconveniences, but overall a good evening!
Great food and staff! A great place for Japanese barbecue!
Really like this place, the food is amazing, I do not like the ambiance that much but all you can eat id great
Gyu-Kaku is my favorite restaurant. They never disappoint. Food is excellent! Atmosphere is lively. The staff is always welcoming!
We love it here!!!
Everything is amazing!! From food to customer service.
It was a meal to be remembered! We had champagne and orange juice for mimosas. Each table has a BBQ to cook own food. Waitress was a wonderful assistant on how many minutes to cook. We started with salad and soup, and then the meat dishes came in turn as we cooked one and then another. All meats had delicious flavor. Finally, we had s'mores for dessert. It was a delightful two-hour lunch.
Went for Mother's Day lunch and selected the Big Hug set menu for 2 of $79. It was enough for 3 people. Some of the meats were tender and some were not so tender. Service was decent. No issue with reservations and seating.
Our server was awesome!
Very cool with our crazy baby
I made reservations at 7:30pm and they were running behind and I got seated until 7:50pm. And they took at least 20-25 minutes to serve the food.
Love this place!! Was super great today!!
Wonderful first time experience! Everyone was so helpful! Meal was amazing and worth the price! Will go back again when I am in town.
Much better this time around, clean, attentive, thank you
The food was excellent; THE SERVICE WAS GREAT! My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time talking and eating. Even though we had paid our check, the waiter still came by and asked us if we needed anything, which is exceptional. All other places where I've paid the check, the waiter/waitress NEVER comes back to the table to ask if you need anything else.
Air Conditioning was not working. Staff complained about it not working for days. You're a restaurant with grills in every table. Your AC had better be working. It was a miserable meal only because this location doesn't prioritize the customer's experience. Same day AC service is easy to find.
Service was great but the wait for food was long. We ordered the ayce for 4. Every time we ordered the meat would take 10-15 minutes before it would arrive at our table. Not to mention we ordered ahead of time before we finished our food on the table expecting a wait. The waiter explained they were backed up in orders. Although so, between every time we order we have about a 10+ minute gap and our appetite is gone. Quality food not enjoyed. My girlfriends family was disappointed in the service.
Good food, good service. Wonderful experience as always.
Wonderful experience as always. Can keep going back to this place again and again.
Food seems worse than it used to Be. Especially considering the price
I think the value isn’t quite as good as before especially during Happy Hour.
It’s my birthday celebrating with my family. The beef are very yummy. We had a good time tonight.
The quality of food is not like before. Spicy pork was again dry and didn’t have enough sauce. The angus beef ribs were huge, instead of being cut into bite sized pieces, making it difficult to grill or even eat.
Nice place overall. Drink selection includes beers or cocktails. Prices are a little higher than average but food is good. It would be nice to have more selections of seafood.
Food is not that good like it used to be earlier. Service is great, though. The chef seems to get really careless around lunch time is what it looks like to me.
Daniel our waiter was awesome. The food was fabulous.
Reserved a table for 8:30, I had never been to this location before and was surprised to see that this is one of the bigger locations. My husband and I got there a bit early so we decided we were going to sit at the bar to order drinks while we waited. The bar area is pretty small so of course there were no seats available for it being a Saturday night. The good thing is they have about four tables in the front of the restaurant for people who are waiting to be seated. We were able to order drinks and wait for our table to become available. We were seated promptly at the time we reserved. Everything was amazing including the service! Will definitely be going back to the Pasadena location.
The food is always great at this restaurant and the service was outstanding as well. The only thing I wished was that this restaurant had parking because even with validated valet parking you were still charged a minimum of $10 to park your car for under 2 hours.
My boyfriend and I had a great time celebrating our 3-year anniversary! Service, food, and ambiance was great.
Great service, food and drinks! I enjoy the Pasadena location from any other.
I had complained once before also about the declining quality of food, especially the meats. But looks like they really don’t again. Need to stop going there soon.
