Gyu-Kaku - Pasadena, CA
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
Excellent quality of meat and vegetables. So much fun to cook with friends - an interactive and unusual meal!
We had reservations and had to wait less than 5 minutes. After ordering service was pretty quick and all food was brought out quickly. Waitress came to check on us a couple of times. Definitely will be going back.
This is by far my favorite location. I love the ambiance.
Great experience, food is always great.
My reservation was at 915 and I did not get seated until 10. During this entire time I asked the host 4 times about our reservation yet they had us continue to wait as 8 parties were seated before us.
Terrible service by the host staff
Metered street parking. Also if you have the app, use it for discounts.
A fun place for lunch or dinner with friends. Very meat-centric menu for grilling, but there are some vegan friendly options if you ask. Great drink specials. The hot and spicy coleslaw is amazing!
The manager was great.
The server was the best we've ever had.
I was looking forward to trying this restaurant unfortunately the customer service was very poor three people upfront all lacking good customer service the young man at least greeted us but the young ladies were absolutely awful at first they said 15 minute wait then 30min went across the street great service great customer service and good food. Canceled the reservation on my phone maybe another day if someone actually is welcoming to your customers and greats with a smile will give it another try.
Took my dear friend kids for their birthday dinner it was the first time for them and they really enjoyed it. The girls had fun cooking their own meat and they loved the s’mores. Service was great
AMMMAAAAAZZZIIIIIIIINGGGG AS ALWAYSSS ♡ best staff ever ♡
Wonderful experience as always. Warm and friendly staff with amazing food.
My daughters 20th Birthday
Prompt service. Both waiters were very attentive. Food looked and tasted delicious. Didn’t really have to ask for much of anything extra. Everything was great. Thank you Gyu-Kaku 😊
The service and food was superior. Our waiter Nick was amazing.
The meats RE are a bit at the salty site. Great that drinks and cocktails are good!
Everything was good, service, food. We had a good experience. Will definitely come back. Thank you Dine on LA, now we discover another restaurant.
Always great service and food at this location. We love having our family dinners there!
The cost of the meat is pretty high, but what was pushed out of the kitchen was good the quality meat you pay for. It seems like they were using Yoshinoya meat.. cheap meat!
It is good, but comparing to Korean BBQ, it does not worth it. It is so expensive. We, two people spent about $160...Usually at a Korean BBQ, two people will cost $80-100.
Good healthy food options. Wonderful experience to share with friends or family.
Love this place. First experience at a Japanese BBQ. Don't underestimate the fried chicken... It looks dry but it's not at all!! A must eat!
The food is awesome, all the meat and fish are pretty well seasoned. The rice and noodle are even more anazing, I would like to eat those all day long. However, its not cheap for AYCE or set combo, but definitive is the top of the BBQ place in LA in taste. Highly recommanded.
Have not been disappointed in Gyu Kaku since we started coming here for special occasions. The meats are good quality, the beer is cold, the service is great!
Great service from Abby and Nick and the rest of the staff.
Love this place! Food and service always great! We are frequent guests!
We made reservations for Father’s Day. We were seated by the large window so it was really hot and we were sweating from the window heat + grill. Away from the window was much cooler, too bad. We ordered rice but they had none and didn’t tell us until we inquired about it. Waiter said they were making some. Since we came with our kids, rice was really important because they don’t like all the meats. Finally we got the rice but our meal was 90 percent over and we were full. I asked for no pork sausage with the meal but they brought it out 3x to our table. Kind of annoying having to tell 3 different serves that we don’t eat pork and did not want the sausage. Our initial server knew this but after she took our order she came by to say someone else would be our server. Our order included chicken with a cheese fondue. I had never tried it. The server said it was really good. It was not tasty. The waiter asked me what I thought and I said it was not so good. He said it was probably because they forgot the butter. He said other tables who had ordered it before pointed out the butter was missing. Seemed like the staff were all running and couldn’t keep up with tables. At the end they gave us 3 wet naps to wipe with and said they ran out so we had to share.
Excellent service! This was my first visit to this location, our waiter was refreshingly pleasant and accommodating which made this experience a memorable one. My family is looking forward to eating there again.
Been going to Gyu-Kaku for 6 years and I love it! Food is amazing and its a great value, highly recommend it.
Had a great time at Gyu-Kaku tonight. We ordered the "Samurai" meal for our party of 4, it was plenty of food for all of us. The cooking experience was fun, and we all enjoyed the meal. Our server was okay, we had to keep asking for things like napkins, the sauces for the meal, drink refills, even the water. Minor inconveniences, but overall a good evening!
Great food and staff! A great place for Japanese barbecue!
Really like this place, the food is amazing, I do not like the ambiance that much but all you can eat id great
Gyu-Kaku is my favorite restaurant. They never disappoint. Food is excellent! Atmosphere is lively. The staff is always welcoming!
We love it here!!!
Everything is amazing!! From food to customer service.
It was a meal to be remembered! We had champagne and orange juice for mimosas. Each table has a BBQ to cook own food. Waitress was a wonderful assistant on how many minutes to cook. We started with salad and soup, and then the meat dishes came in turn as we cooked one and then another. All meats had delicious flavor. Finally, we had s'mores for dessert. It was a delightful two-hour lunch.
Went for Mother's Day lunch and selected the Big Hug set menu for 2 of $79. It was enough for 3 people. Some of the meats were tender and some were not so tender. Service was decent. No issue with reservations and seating.
Our server was awesome!
Very cool with our crazy baby
I made reservations at 7:30pm and they were running behind and I got seated until 7:50pm. And they took at least 20-25 minutes to serve the food.
Love this place!! Was super great today!!
