Went in on mother's day with a reservation had to wait still to get seated. There was no all you can eat and the options there were super expensive and You barley get anything we left both hungry still. We got one of the mothers day specials and when they brought it out our soup was cold we asked the waiter and he brought out another still cold like he threw it in a microwave for 10 seconds. We had no dishes, forks knives tongs or anything. We didn't even have soy sauce. We had to ask for everything which was slowly brought out. We had finished almost the whole meal before we got our drinks refilled when we finished them before anything came out. It was the worst time I've ever had here because usually everything is great it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had

It was expensive and didn't feel it was worth it. Forgot to bring some of our food that we needed to ask for. Didn't brink drinks that I got charged for. Fun for my teen kids as they enjoyed the place. Maybe one day we will go back on a day that is slower but I wasn't impressed with the food as most of it was mediocre.

Food was very good. Some cuts of meat were outstanding but some were so and so. Got the reservation ahead of time but it was very busy so ended up waiting almost an hour before getting to the table. Service was also slow but perhaps due to very busy time that evening. I may come back when it’s less busy

Had an awesome time at the Japanese BBQ spot, thanks to Sam! Super friendly, helpful, and really knows the menu. He gave great tips on what to order and how to cook everything just right. Made the whole experience smooth and fun. Definitely ask for Sam if you go—he’s the best

Service was not good at all, table didn’t have all the plates/utensils we needed had to ask twice for them. Had to ask for refills. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had with gyu since this is not the first time I’ve been to one I know what the service is like

Gyu-Kaku satisfies an occasional craving...and for once we were hungry enough that we got "full value"! Look, you don't go to any Gyu-Kaku location looking for "fine dining". You go because you have a craving for meat. Meat cooked to the doneness that YOU want. I won't say that we go regularly but when we go, it serves the purpose we were looking to fulfill. It did so again at this visit. Unlike some of its competitors in the Chicago area, the meat is actually not still frozen when they serve it to you! The staff is relatively attentive, for a place where the philosophy HAS to be, "let them wait a bit so they fill up faster". The only real "complaint" that we had was that we were 10 minutes early (for an early dinner reservation, i.e., NOT in the most peak hours) and the hostess still made us sit for ten minutes rather than seating us. I am guessing that it had more to do with staffing levels but it still was kind of unexpected when they clearly had tables open that would have been more comfortable and allowed us to study the menu and plan out our "strategy". It would have been better than sitting in their absolutely dead waiting/bar area. It's a small complaint.
