Gyu-Kaku - Mississauga
The service was great, the food was good, they had a lot of great options that we loved. The other location in North York was great, but this was more intimate
Our server Tuyet was amazing! We got the Chef's choice and it was more than enough to feed two people. Food was delicious and the workers were all very nice. Will definitely go back
Love this place for food and service. There is a waitress there named Ashley who is just the most pleasant person. Super friendly!
Did not get the desert that I ordered and it was last call, the waitress replaced with another desert. Still disappointed that the kitchen could miss a food order.
When we got there, they placed us in the far back near the kitchen where no one was seated, even though there seemed to be a lot of space in the front. It was very cold as it was right underneath the air conditioning. We asked the girl to move us to the seat right behind us as the window was there and there was no air conditioning. She said no because apparently it was reserved, even though by the time we left no one came. When the first item came (shishito peppers), we placed them on the grill. After a full 5 minutes of waiting, nothing happened. The grill was broken. We called the waitress over and she called a man to fix it. He tried fixing it but then the flame went to one side only. After 10 minutes of waiting for the grill to get fixed, we asked them to move us to the table behind us because we were getting tired of waiting for them and we were very hungry. Finally they did because their grill was broken. After all that we got the rest of our food and it was good, however we personally don’t feel it is completely worth the value. It is a little overpriced, but we will come back a couple times here and there.
The food is great, but a little bit cold because of air conditioning
Food and Experience was great. They did not have some of the alcohols on the menu as they have been delayed by shipping. Which is understandable given the circumstances.
Love the food here. Very clean and safe environment.
Great service nice staff and food is excellent place is very clean
Lots of delicious food. Friendly staff. Really LOUD.
Good overall. Server service is an issue everywhere. So they tried. Over all good
Too expensive for quality of meat offered Service was great
Food was good but it came out very slow. After we finished ‘all’ of our food, the waitress cleaned our table and turned off the grill which was great. However, 15 minutes later, the waitress came back and said we have 2 more plates of meat. We already ordered desert. Our table was cleaned. Utensils were taken away. We thought we were done with our food. Service was also terrible. Precious was good, all others were not (including management).
Too much work for my taste with self cooking concept. The rice gets cold. Noise level too high. Cannot have a conversation. Our server, Precious was great.
It was our first time at Gyu-kaku. We ordered the Chefs Favourite set however we were informed after ordering that 3 items were not available so we had to choose substitutions. No problem. The service started off quick and attentive but quickly went downhill. We were served the appetizers and 3 meats straight away but it took over an hour and multiple check ins with multiple servers to receive the rest of our order. Our server also did not turn on the grill properly so the meats were not cooking despite being on the grill for over 10 minutes. We had to flag down another server who was also unable to resolve the issue. Half of the grill was not heating up. The grill started working properly after the manager came to remove the outer ring to improve the airflow. The meats were high quality and the food was good. The manager was apologetic and checked on our table multiple times after which I appreciated, but given the long wait times and inattentive service, we will not be returning anytime soon.
I didn’t like the policy of “all the party must be there before seated”. We had 3/4 people checking in and they didn’t let us be seated. I already knew the food comes out very slow, so I wanted them to place the order so food would be ready when the last member came.
Also, the server was not as attentive and flagging them down took some effort. Simple things like replacing the water or remembering to bring rice at the beginning of meal would have made a difference. We had to remind the server of these things.
Food was good and explanation of cooking methods was given.
A fair experience. The spicy dipping sauce was amazing!
Food was delicious and atmosphere was great. A bit too pricey considering the amount of food and the rotation of servers usually results in missed drink orders/forgotten requests. Not the end of the world however - had a great time nonetheless.
I had a very good experience for my first time being there.
Table and utensils could have been more clean before we were seated. (Dead fly in my sauce container.) We ordered the Chef’s Favourite (set meal for 2). Dishes came out one at a time and sometimes with long intervals between. We would’ve preferred the rice to come out near the beginning so we could eat it with the meats. That said, staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was good, though we thought two pieces of shrimp per person was too few. The Beef Sukiyaki Bibimbap was just sukiyaki beef on rice, so don’t expect the traditional bibimbap accoutrements. We tried the sorbet dessert, which tasted good, but the price point of $1 per small cube of sorbet was a little too high for us to order again in the future. All in all, decent experience.
Had a great time and our sever Zubia was such a pleasure! Definitely dining here again!
Excellent service and great selection. An enjoyable date experience. Lots of fun!
The food was good and the service was welcoming. Overall a great place to enjoy some Japanese barbecue. Prices were decent for the value you get
It was great!
The food was satisfactory can’t say it was good. Service was also little slow, but the manager was very friendly helpful.
They provided excellent service! Our server, Sandy, explained each item that we ordered and the suggested cooking time. Overall, despite being pricey, we enjoyed the food! I would definitely come back again!
Staff was very friendly and the food was amazing, I've been to 5 other Gyu Kaku locations before both in Vancouver and in the GTA, and this one was the best one yet. Food has always been good, but somehow this time it was amazing, the staff was super nice, the manager also showed up and gave us some tips on the meat, etc.
The tables were clean and everything looked new. Overall a great experience and I will be back soon.
Great service and great food, no wait times
food was so so, but for the price that your paying, you would expect something pretty good but it was average at best. i wanted to eat the bbq meats with all the side dishes en vegetables that i ordered for my family, but they couldn’t even bring everything together to the table, it was literally 1 dish at a time.. we would finish grilling a plate of meat, finish eating it, wait around 3-5 min for the next one to arrive. I ordered noodles for my 4 yr old daughter, but it didnt even get to the table minutes before we asked for the bill, en i reminded the server a couple of times if i could get that order first if possible, i understand that they were busy, but damn.. its like she forgot we were there en just grabbed one of the plates for our table when she was passing by to get the other tables orders. What a let down.
The service was amazing and the food was just so delicious
Meat portions too small. Quality of cuts low. Downtown store has larger portions, better overall value. Meals come with desert its not an extra even if not a special occasion.
Gyu- Kaku is a Japanese company and is all over Japan. They would never serve their customers in Japan this level of quality. They would be ashamed.
Excellent customer service and the food was delicious. It came out at a good pace, so you never felt overwhelmed by the amount of food.
