Gyu-Kaku - Midtown Ratings and Reviews
I have been this place many many times and never had bad experience before but this time we didn't get what we ordered and when we asked a waiter why we haven't got the plate we ordered she was really rude. Such a disappointing experience especially I love their food
Gyu Kaku has several locations but I go to the one on 3rd Ave most often because it's near my office. Great place to take visitors to the city. The act of grilling your own meal makes it so much fun and makes conversation so easy. This was my first time there for happy hour - and the food has happy hour pricing too! Everything is deelish and the service is prompt and efficient, always. Make sure to reserve, it fills up fast.
Love every aspect of this dining experience, considering it was the first time trying this place out. I definitely would go back and recommend it to others looking for a new dining experience to try :). Servers were very attentive to our needs and the music was very good, I enjoyed the ambiance, service and overall experience 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The food was amazing, they do give smaller portions of meat but we ordered so much we didn't notice. Our waiter gave us a quick overview of how to work the grill, in case there were new people, he was also very speedy there was hardly any wait time for our food/drinks. Definitely will be going back, great place!
Server was in a rush. She did not introduce herself and did not go over the menu. An order was missed therefore we decided to cancel the order. Manager adjusted $3.00 which I was not looking for anything free all I wanted for her to note that this is the service industry leave it if you can't do such task.
I would say the service was terrible! I made a reservation online, but when we got there, they had us wait for more than 20 minutes to get a table!!! That lady was keep serving others who came later than us and saying to us "wait a minute"... When we finally sat down, we found that there was actually several available tables...Then the fire was too small so the manager had us move to another table, but waiters didn't bring all our dishes to the new table so we miss our soups and have to keep ask other waiters to give us plates, tissues, spoons... Terrible experience!!!
I love the open table for booking my reservation although when I asked the reception at the restaurant if any table is available she not helpful. So OpenTable saved the day. Loved the service as I redeemed my free ice cream! Yay!
We looked for a reservation for 11:15 pm to eat after our show. A short walk from Broadway, The restaurant is on the second floor with many booths against the windows. There is a hibachi-style cook grill in the center of the table. If you order meat, it is severed raw but seasoned depending upon what you order (very thin slices) that are fun and easy to cook (about 1 min). Sliced onion, red bell pepper, corn, etc are also served for grilling. The food was great and it was very easy to grill it and eat at your own speed. Dipping sauces are offered, some quite spicy, some bland, etc. Great place. The only nick in the deal - we were there late (close at 12 midnight) and the staff started cleaning the fire grills at 11:40. Not bad, but it did make things feel rushed at the end.
Took my girlfriend here for our 5th anniversary. She spent a lot of time in Japan and is very into their culture (shes from CT) so I wanted something Japanese but not the usual Sushi type place. I also wanted something that was more than just paying too much to sit and eat. This filled both of those things. It was fun and entertaining to grill things right at the table and appropriately priced for what we ordered.
