Gyu-Kaku - Midtown Ratings and Reviews
Experience is always nice but I had had a shiitake dermatitis because the shiitake mushroom I had was not enough cooked. The server told me 1 minute but it was not enough and now I've got red spots all over me. Staff should be trained to advise correctly customers, especially when you are cooking your raw food.
This was my second time visiting. The first time , I came for a get-together among friends (8) and this time was a double date. We were seated early, and had a spot by the window. The food was great and well seasoned. It's always fun cooking on that open fire tabletop grill. Garlic Noodles always taste great. I was glad to see the menu options changed to include a party of 4 and more. There was so much food! The S'mores were my fav :)
We needed to find a last minute place to grab dinner on a Sunday night in midtown Manhatten and found this place on Open Table. The reviews were right on - extensive options, lively atmosphere, fun preparing your own food. Service was attentive and we walked out very satisfied (and stuffed to the gills). Harrison was a wonderful host and started the evening out nicely. Would highly recommend it. Located on 2nd level, so might go by the entrance.
Even though i reserved the table for 7.30
I got seated by 8.20
I waited for so long .. i think there’s no use to make a reservation
The hostess doesn’t know how to manage the table
Food was great n service was awesome ..
but I don’t think i will come back to gyukaku midtown
I rather go to the one in times sq or cooper st
We’ve been to several other locations in both the USA and Japan and enjoyed all of them far more than this one. Food was as good as in others but hospitality, service and far lesser happy hour options made it clear to us that East Village or West Side versions were worth more visits as they offer more fun and better value.
MIKI.!!!!! 💗💗💗💗 Miki was our server and she did amazing. Quick & informative to my guests who had never dined here before. Was sure to tell us about the seasonal menu as well as mention happy hour. $3.50 for beers & $3 shots.?? Oh you can't beat that. The prices are reasonable if you order a la carte, but groups of four or more may stand to save more with one of their amazing combos. They have an app where you can collect points and get free items and coupons I would highly recommend it if you frequent this eatery or area. Gyu Kaku never a disappointment.
I think once you have more than 4 people on a table, you should put your guests on a table with 2 fire pits. We had 7 people all sharing one fire pit, it was a horrible experience where our food kept on falling on the sides of the fire pit and we kept losing our food because we had to stretch our hands to one fire pit with 7 people.OMG
Shockingly terrific value for super-tasty food; fun to futz with the grill and arrange things just how you like. We were tucked into a window booth and so the whoops and shouts that are part of the general dining room service were background noise. Astonished to feed two people well for lunch in midtown for THIRTY DOLLARS with tip. Still SMH.
