Once a while we would come here for great Happy Hour, and this time we found that theHH cutoff time moved up to 5 pm from 6 pm! Luckily we sat down at 4:30 pm, but we waited for good 20 minutes to get chance to order, and the waitress coldly told us “Now is the Last Call!” OK, I had enough time to look at the shorter and much expensive menu, we ordered everything we wanted right before 5 pm:(
Then the food came, for some reason, the beef wasn’t as good as as before, we have tried different locations and thought the midtown location was the best, sadly not anymore.
First time trying Japanese BBQ. Overall a great experience, cute place for a date. It can get a little too hot around the table because of the fire which is expected.
The food was great, we ordered a few different options; meat, chicken, and seafood. Highly recommend for anyone looking to do something different.
Large Threatening sign at checkin says your reservation is toast if you’re more than 10 min late. Waiter greets the table by admonishing thst you have 1 hr 45 min to enjoy dinner. Been going for years and always enjoyed it but what kind of arrogance causes management to taunt their guests twice before starting their dinner?
The food was delicious, the staff was very attentive. Amazing drinks. Don’t have one complaint!
Great food, great service a little pricy but so much food for the price. We ate with three people and got the 4 people serving. More than enough food and such yummy appetizers. Definitely try to crispy tuna
Food was delicious 🤤 and my date had a lot of fun cooking the meat on her own.
Miss some of the old menu like salmon sashimi and addictive cabbage.
Grest place with delicious cuts of meat!
It seems that taste of meats has deteriorated and the volume of foods such as rice and kimuchi has decreased if I compare with pre-COVID. I want “horumon” comes back to the menu soon.
Put us at the best seat in the house, got. A bunch of food for very reasonable price! Interactive cooking is always so fun
We were in vacation in NYC AND visited Gyu-Kaku midtown on a Saturday eve with our 12 and 16 yo sons. We had to wait almost 40 min for our table though we had a reservation. It was worth the wait. We selected the combination meal for (4) for $160. The selection of starters and compliments were great but the meats-they were amazing. So fun to grill your own. Our sons had a great time doing the cooking . I am sure this is a place they will not forget. This is a great not to miss venue for a special night out for any group. We will definitely dine again if we encounter another in our travels.
We had to wait at least 20 mins before we got seated and 20 mins or so after we placed our order to get the meat to cook. But the meat was really fresh and tasty. And felt safe seated with the booth separation. Would go back again.
Amazing food and drinks!
First night in the city. Super fun experience for our family. Meal for 4 was more than enough for 6. Great food and great service
It was great, but my boyfriend had a salad plastic twist in his meal. But it was resolved very quick and we had a great time with the mishap. Will visit again when we come to NYC.
Love this place will b returning
Everything about this experience was AMAZING
We had the Meat lovers combo (has so many more options)
Food was delicious. Definitely a bit on the pricy side but it was honestly amazing.
Amazing!! Love it for a birthday lunch with coworkers!
First timer... everything was great, food was delicious. We picked the Ninja package for 3 and it was more than enough for the 3 of us. Service was great! Drink prices are affordable .. we tried Sangria Rose , Mango & Tripleberry. Will definitely recommend to my friends!
Overall great experience
Wonderful little restaurant with a super cute location. The meats were very fresh and there was a lot of variety!
This was our first time attending this location-i have been to the times square a few times. Equally as delicious! The happy hour prices are such a bargain, if you haven't been before you need to go. Grilling the food is so fun, and their side dishes and ramen are amazing as well. 10/10
Pony our server was very attentive.
Have a great day
Always my favorite place to go in NYC. Love all the COVID precautions they are taking. My only mild complaint was that the music was a little too loud, but the food was amazing as always, the drinks were great (they do not skimp on the alcohol), and the service was excellent.
Horrible. The quality of meat was below standard. Walked out of the restaurant & went to the one in E 7th. They got 5stars
It would be great if Gyukaku gets grade A from NYC.
The staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining everything! The options are awesome and we got the meat lovers option and it was delicious!
We were seated between a very loud (and possibly drunk) couple and a table with three rowdy children. There were plenty of empty tables, but they seated these two parties right next to us. It would have been great if they spaced out the patrons a bit, especially when space permitted.
Nice spot, good ambiance
Amazing food and vibe
The seating hostess was the worst that we have encountered in NYC.
We will not return to the Resturant due to the terrible experience with her.
If you're looking for a reasonably priced, sensible-casual date spot, there are few better in Midtown than Gyu-Kaku.
Overall food we ordered were all good.
Staffs were attentive and knew what they were doing.
Good experience overall.
Especially for happy hour menu selection is pretty good.
Dinner was great and the experience was a lot of fun! Would 100% recommend this location for anyone looking to have a fun dining experience with others!
Love this restaurants for a date, birthday and friends dinner. If you are looking for a quality fun time, this is the place.
I ordered a course meal and I liked the fast service, but the food is generally salty.
