Gyu-Kaku - New York, NY | Midtown
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
One of the best restaurants in Midtown. Great food and great value.
Great food, fun environment, reasonably priced and great service!! This was our first time dining here and we already can't wait to come back!
I will forever recommend this place. The food and drinks are phenomenal and the staff is great.
Great service from Michael! Amazing as always and consistent with the other locations.
I come here often and am never disappointed. The meat is always succulent and marinated beautifully. There is just something about grilling your own food that’s highly satisfying. The drinks are strong, and very reasonably priced during happy hour. Will continue to come back here and rack up points on their loyalty app for great discounts!
They were really strict about 2hr dining policy this time. I understand because it was really busy!! They accommodate us at the bar to finish our drinks :-)
They have a good variety of items for you to cook on the grill in the middle of your table. The food was delicious and the service was very good. Highly recommended.
Great time great food
This Gyu-kaku location is my least favorite of the NYC franchises. Our waiter had dirty finger nails. Japanese restaurants and their servers are supposed to be spotless! Also, the miso soup had no flavor. This is the second time this has happened so it’s clearly not a fluke. Overall, the food is still good but I won’t come to this location anymore.
Simply amazing. My boyfriend & I always love to come here especially this location. The workers are super nice and food is just so good.
Service wasn’t good. Won’t be returning
It was a great experience
♥️ open east village back!
I absolutely love this place ! Always great food, reasonable pricing for NYC and the staff is so energetic and welcoming. One of my Go To spots!
Upset from the get-go. Made reservation and still made us wait more than half an hour to be seated.
Always great happy hour, service & food!!
They were great changing grill, accommodating for birthday cake with c as candle and singing!
Great lunch options. Place is usually busy so smart to make a reservation.
My daughter(age 8) had a lot of fun using the grill. Second time coming with her. With kids, better prior to 6pm, even midweek since it makes a great date spot too. Waitstaff are polite and responsive. They also preempted a possible allergic reaction to fish in one of the dipping sauces. Very grateful for that.
Meat was too salty, and utensils were way too dirty. I requested for different utensils, and the ones the server brought me was dirty as well. I ended up using my chopsticks instead.
I've eaten at the other Gyu-Kaku in Philadelphia (there are many in USA), and I have to say that the service quality is consistent. However, our waiter was exceptional. He attended to just about everything we requested. We even asked to have my baby's food heated and he took care of that without any complaint or excuse. We made sure to tip him very well. Also, this restaurant is on the 2nd floor and has a glass roof. So, we didn't feel enclosed and got the sunshine to brighten our lunch.
Great place, I always take friends and family to this restaurant, it’s inexpensive and great service, need one in Long Island NY
Always amazing and the servers were just fantastic, have been here three times in last three months
Gyu-Kaku is always amazing! The food, drinks and atmosphere is awesome!
So great! We left full and satisfied ✨
Good food - good service- underwhelming atmosphere.
Terrible bathrooms. No attention to detail.
Amazing food and service! My go-to spot! Great deals during Happy Hour!
Never a dull moment eating at my favorite Japanese BBQ restaurant. Another satisfying meal.
Been to Gyu Kaku for many lunches but not for dinner. Great place, service, amazing food, good drinks. Lunch is a better deal but that's too be expected. Great place to take out-of-towners.
Very fun place to go with friends
This place never disappoints
The only thing is that they asked us to leave at the end of our meal because they had another party (at 11pm!). I don’t like that about restaurantes even when they tell you in advance on the website
The Happy Hour is without a doubt one of the best values in all of New York City. Our waitress was wonderful helping us get our orders in right before 6, and then had us download their App to save ANOTHER $40 off our order. It is a fun place, great service and at the right time of day, legitimately one of the best values in the city.
Don’t ever go to this one. Go to 46th street west side. This one on the east side is the work ever made.
We visited this place for dinner. It was a good experience. We ordered the “Meat Lovers” with my fiancée, it was amazing and enough portion for 2 people. And the service was excellent. Thanks for everything! :)
Waiter were very rude
I had lunch here twice a couple of years ago and looking back, I had a better experience then, with better service and ambiance. The restaurant seems to have lost its former cleanliness and Japanese hospitality. The green Mille fuelle I enjoyed last time was no longer there.
Watress forgot a dish. Overall good. Same quality food but cheaper than cooper union store.
