Food was not the best
We’ve been Gyu-Kanu all over locations in US because we love foods here but this one was worst.
I always patronize the location in midtown. I was in this area so I decided to try this location. The waiter marked off over half of the menu as items that they did not have in stock. I was so frustrated at that point this should have been told to us before we sat down. Also, the seating is a bit uncomfortable on the couch side against the wall it hits your knee while sitting. My husband was highly uncomfortable and he’s only 5’8. The food was good overall.
So this was the first time at this location. It's the newest location in Manhattan. We had an awful experience at the check-in because the two hostesses were extremely overwhelmed because they had added duties of checking vaccine cards and taking temps. Other Gyu-Kakus do this flawlessly but the scene was very chaotic. They need better training or just a system Too many people were in the very small vestibule/hostess stand area. This location is very small and doesn't have a bar. We tried it because we are avid Gyu-Kaku customers having eaten at over 50 locations in the US and almost as many travelling abroad. Our server Tony was very attentive and we had some interaction with Grace who was very nice. Probably won't visit this location again.
I enjoyed my time at Gyu-Kaku because the service and food was exquisite. I went at a perfect time where it wasn’t to crowded and noisy so I was about to enjoy the full experience without a busy waiter. Definitely plan on returning.
My parents, 88 &85 love there! We are regular customers!
Always a great time!
I enjoyed the food overall but the service was lackluster. Arrived 10 minutes early for my reservation but my friend hadn't arrived yet. Even though I had received a text that my table was ready the hostess said they couldn't seat incomplete parties, which was fine so I sat on the bench waiting for my friend. Over the next 15 minutes I saw the hostess seat 2 incomplete parties that arrived after me.
Excellent experience for my friends birthday dinner. Our waitress was very informative and provided great selections to order. One of my friend's is vegetarian and she was raving about all the options of food. They sang happy birthday and it went very well.
Good experience. However, Some of the dishes at this location were not as good as the same dishes in other locations. Overall, the rest of the food & drinks were quite delicious.
It was a little too noisy. We had our fifth anniversary. There was confusion with the order and a problem with the table grill, but things were resolved. The food makes up for other issues.
Wonderful spot for a special family birthday celebration. Helpful staff.
The food is always great I love this place!
Much improved compared to the previous management (which I suspect was the case).
This place is a lot of fun! The food is tasty too
Service was great from the hostess to servers. But the food was disappointing
Great food great service. We will definitely be back again .
Love this restaurant - it has been one of my favorites for three years now. This location is new, but does not disappoint. There was no wait time to be seated or for our server to take our order. Food came out quickly as well and was amazing - as always. Felt
comfortable in our space as we weren’t too near another party. Overall, the experience was great.
Overall great experience. 2nd time here and I can’t wait for my 3rd !
Love this place! My last visit I dined alone and service was great and the food was fantastic as usual!
Food was amazing and so was the service.
Food was great. Service was definitely lacking today, I think our server was Pattaporn. Was just a bit hasty and rude, she didn’t fill our water several times, didn’t check in once, and brought our meat 40 mins after the miso soup. She said to wait before cooking more so she could change the grill and then forgot, leaving us waiting for 20 mins. We had to remind her. Thankfully someone else (Tony I think) stepped in to fill in the gaps shortly after and was the best.
I’m a regular here and this visit just wasn’t what I’m used to the waiter was very absent and the food especially my garlic noodles didn’t come out the way they were supposed to
So glad to have gyu Kanu uptown. My kid’s favorite!
Our waiter, Richard, was outstanding. We filled our bellies and laughed a lot.
I came in with my nephews ( who don’t live in New York ) ll and I come to this place A LOT . Food was dry (the noodles ) made with no love . Service was not as good as it usually is . I came in pretty late in the night but I was still able to get a reservation so why not knock out spectacular service for a regular ? I was only able to grab one drink and the server took her time before coming back to the table , then did last call .
Good food, good service, drinks are okay just too sweet- I had the frozen sangria then changed it to a red wine.
Went for Father’s Day with my family and my Parents. Wonderful experience and lunch.
This place has gone sooo down hill!!!!!! The service was SO slow. Because of covid they’ve change the traditional bowls that the bibimbop comes it. So it doesn’t get crispy at all. They took onions of the money even tho they are served in the rice. So that makes no sense at all. The portions are almost half of what they used to be. We ordered twice as much and still left hungry. I’ve been a huge fan of gyu for many years but I think that was my last visit
everyone was excellent and treated us nice
The food is fresh and excellent quality. It was a bit noisy, but guess people are just excited to be eating out again. Great for family meals.
It was good!!
It's a great place!
We had an amazing family dinner!
One of my favorite places! Great food, great prices and great service.
Food was great!
I eat here with my friends a lot and it’s one of my favorite restaurant! It always has great service and food!
love it here
My wife and I had a great time. The food was great. The service was great. The only downer was things got fairly loud at various times
I have been to many other Gyu- kaku before. This particular one is more calmed and relaxed than other venues. Only the disappointment was the quality of the meat itself. Most of them were not cut properly nor evenly. It reminded me that they served a edge part of the meat. So I felt little steep what I paid for the chef’s favorite dinner. Service was good enough same as other Gyu-kaku.
