Overall it was okay, probably the 5th time here. Service definitely have been getting worse, food still okay.
I live in Vegas, but I am in a long-distance relationship with someone in Orange County, California, so I frequently go to the Gyu-Kaku in Cerritos. Despite living in Vegas, I had never visited "our" Gyu-Kaku here until today, so I had the opportunity to compare the two.
First of all, the food is the same at both places, and that is to say "Excellent". I had no complaints with the quality or freshness of the meat. The service was also friendly and efficient. We came during Happy Hour so we had several rounds of amazing cocktails at $4 each... (each cocktail was $4, not the whole round).
I guess my only complaint was that the place seemed... well... kind of dirty. We were seated at a booth for 4, and it was separated from another booth with one of those wooden divider things so you are separate from the other booth and whoever might be sitting there, but you can still kinda see over there. Anyway, the wooden partition between the booths was spattered with sauce or something. Now I'm not saying the entire restaurant was filthy, far from it. More than likely what happened was that someone brought their ill-tempered toddler in for dinner and failed to exercise any parenting skills as the kid flung food all over the dam place... but whoever bussed that booth should've wiped that down as it was very distracting to be looking at crusty food stains on the wall while trying to eat.
Batman was our server. I have been here before, but my first time bringing my parents. They loved everything and would be happy to bring my parents again. Food and services were fantastic
The set BBQ courses on the weekends is a good deal because you get a 20% discount. Just make sure to check the bill so they don't end up double charging you.
Our server, Ryan, was great! Excellent happy hour specials and the all you can eat package is well worth it.
It’s a fun Japanese barbecue spot where you get to grill your own meat in front of you. Various choices of meats and they are all very juicy and seasoned well. The Bistro Hanger Steak Miso is a must try.
Everything was great. Food was amazing, just the service needs a little work. I had to ask the employees to refill my water. What annoyed me was, I would order 3-4 times and the order would never come out. You have to constantly remind them to bring out the order. But everything else was fine.
I went there for night late meal. Good restaurant. Must try
If you go here, I recommend asking Yoshi for your waiter. EXCELLENT Customer Service. He deserves a large tip every time. If you looking for a food coma afterwards or just feel like having a friend roll you out when you're done. This is the place.
Silverware and tongs always dirty. Also the sauce dishes always dirty to. Daughter and wife got sick this time. I really like this place, but am tired of having to clean my own silverware and plates. It’s disgusting. Never fix it either. Been telling them for months. Corporate needs to get involved. I’ve noticed business is not as busy anymore. Wonder why!
What had a great servicer. We been going there for a few months now. Can’t have enough of their great food.
The food was amazing, great happy hour deals on drinks. Our server Victoria was very fun and accommodating as well!
Ryan is the best serve I had. I had visit other location and this one had been the best. I recommend and ask for Ryan
Great food and nice to get off the strip! Short taxi ride and easy to get a Lyft back
Excellent all around
I have complaints
They are the best from Los Angeles to Vegas
Great service! RJ was the best server
Great food and service
This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants, as they have a wide variety of dishes. This place also offers a rewards program to redeem for food or discounts.
First time dining here. Everything was great. Food was delicious and everyone was friendly.
I did not like the noise made when new people were being seated. It was annoying and loud
We enjoyed the food that we had. The only thing I have a complain about is when I asked the guest representative at the reception if we can transfer to a booth next to us since it was vacant. But, she easily told us that the grill was broken. But I kind of sensed that she doesn't want us to transfer over so she easily made that as an excuse. Two minutes later, I saw her with a guests of two seated on that table. Me and my girlfriend looked at each other and smiled. We didn't bother to approach her or questioned her at all. I can give more details about the staff involved if needed. Next time, just be honest to your guests if the table was reserved or something, we're not difficult people to deal with and we'll truly understand. JUST BE HONEST AND POLITE! That's all.
I make a reservation at 5:30pm but we didn't get seated until at least 6pm. When we checked in the waiter said it would take 5-10 mins for them to set up our table, which is reasonable; however, I wasn't expecting a 30 mins wait especially when we had a reservation. What's the point of having a reservation ahead?
Our waiter is nice and the service is excellent. However, the front staffs weren't so friendly (in my opinion).
We had an awesome experience for our first visit to Gyu-Kaku. Yoshi, our server, was friendly, very attentive to our every need and informative. I would request him next time if possible. The food was awesome and came out of the kitchen very quickly. Happy hour drink specials are a great value too! We tried the meat lovers combo and it was WAY more food then the both of us to finish in one sitting. You get so many different options to try with that combo. We sure enjoyed trying all the different cuts of meat paired with the dipping sauce. The combo was a great way to discover your favorite cuts. My husband got to have all the extra meat and rice as a delicious lunch the next day. I’d highly recommend upgrading the white rice to a beef bibimbap bowl for only $3 more. It was super tasty and the hot pot they served in it keep our rice warm throughout our whole meal. Making the s’mores for dessert was a fun addition! Definitely download their ap before you leave the house. When we pulled up to the parking lot it automatically texted me a $10 off $30 deal that we used right away. We had a great night and will definitely be back!
We’ve been to the franchise in Kapolei & Kapiolani Hawaii, wanted to try the line restaurant in Nevada. Excellent seniors pricing & waiter service, we’ll be back!
Meat was old/ recently defrosted and chewy.
The food and service were both amazing!! Will go back!!
Great Japanese BBQ and outstanding service. Steven was the BEST!
Food and service was great as always. However, disappointed in the deceptive tactics of charging a “gratuity tax” on top of the tip. Very deceptive and underhanded. Trying to make me pay for the owners taxes. I understand taxes. And I am all for leaving a gratuity. However, will never be okay with a restaurant trying to add on a gratuity tax.
I have eaten here many times before, as it is one of my family's favorite. However this last time, the meat was very poor quality. I ordered the spareribs, and it was mostly fat, gristle and bone. Almost no meat. I had to ask for them to return it. In its place, I asked for the Kobe beef. When the server brought it to our table it was gray in color. Looks like it had been very old and spoiled. I also asked the server to return it. He was very apologetic and he did take it off the bill. This had never been my experience in the past, where the meat was very fresh and tasty. I order the green tea cake for dessert, and it was excellent. I eventually will return to give them another chance, but if they continue to serve meat this way, I cannot see the restaurant lasting very long.
I love this place. Always great food.
there was a cricket that jumped at out of our table into one of the seats and the food took too long to come out
Didn’t come and take our order often, made the experience poor and defeated the purpose of all you can eat koren bbq
Came for mothers day. Been here several times and the food is always amazing. Service the last two times has been terrible. Hopefully that improves as we enjoy eating here
I've been eating here many times, and found out that my friend Yoshi working at this location. I like getting points, sadly they no longer offer discount for local, so I barely eat there now. Just on special occasion.
Our latest visit to Gyu-Kaku was a party of ten to celebrate my mom's birthday and Mother's Day. We were seated within fifteen minutes of arrival and met our waiter; ONE waiter, no helpers. There was the beginning of the problem.
Clearly, only one waiter to handle drink and food orders was inadequate. At a regular restaurant that possibly could have worked out, but given the format at Gyu-Kaku, where small dishes are ordered several times during the meal made it very difficult for one person to keep up.
Our waiter took drink orders first. Most were delivered in a timely manner, except for two beers that didn't arrive after 20 minutes. We discovered, after going to the bar to find out what was wrong, that the tap had run dry and had to be changed. No one came to tell us of the delay.
Appetizers were then ordered. Again, most came quickly, while others took an inordinate amount of time; upward of 15-20 minutes.
When ordering meats, seafood and veggies for the grill, we ordered many different dishes so we could all try something different. Again, some arrived fast, while others took 30 minutes later.
We have been to this restaurant on several prior occasions, typically in groups of 2 or 4, so service was never a problem. This time, it most definitely was. Our waiter was overwhelmed and unable to keep up. Not his fault. Management should anticipate the needs of a party this large, given we made our reservation a week ahead of time.
BTW, no mention was ever made of my mom's birthday by management or staff.
The drinks were spectacular. Our appetizers and food came out really fast. The restaurant was packed and it did not effect our service one bit. Our server Max was AWESOME!!!!!
Great lunch specials and as always great food! Love this place
Had a 7:15 reservation didn’t get seated until 7:30. Once seated several utensils were dirty on the table, appetizers were burnt. Asked for the waiter twice he never showed up. Had to to ask for a manager
The grill was not working well. The fire kept going off and on. We were served not-so-fresh looking sirloin...the color of the meat was partially brown. We asked for a replacement. There was a dust in the beer. Everything went wrong on this visit. I don't think we will go back for a while.
