Gyu-Kaku - Kapiolani
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
I appreciate the OpenTable app, that was super convenient. Our main waiter was awesome, very responsive, and a very great attitude. Then all the backup staff were as well as good! Very attentative.
3回行きましたが 2回目は お肉にホッチキスの針とビニールの破片 ３回目はキムチにビニールと異物が入ってました。
The food was a touch too salty, but the service was great and it was a good value.
The food was good, our waiter helped with serving sizes to order and choices, which turned out to be perfect! Little noisy, though...little hard to have conversation. Other than that, it was a fun experience!
Great service and all of the food tasted great too!
Service was mediocre. Food was okay. Nothing special about this location. We prefer the Windward Mall location.
All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed alll of the items recommended.
Like that they have special seasonal and consistent standard fare. The seasonal bone broth was hot and full of ingredients. The okonomiyaki was thick and happily covered in sweet sauce. Its fun to cook at the table. I like their apple saketini, too.
Good food, good service!
The soundtrack was boys to men and Whitney Houston. I was relieved temporarily when a single Tupac track played. However when I “axed” the waitress she said the music is the current managers preference
I will not dine there again if slim shady is the dj
Good and good
Awesome value and great service, as usual -- will definitely return!
Made a reservation but still had to wait about an hour and a half! No one checked up on us so we had to check back in and ask for the status of our table, after that the host apologized and got us in with the next available table. We were a little upset but our server Maui was very kind and made our dining experience so much better! Thank you Maui!
Food was good, service was even better. I didn’t realize they renovated the place. Much more spacious now.
Quick service and our server was super attentive and accommodating!
Great service tho what I ordered sukiyaki beef meal had no taste whatsoever had to ask for sauce on the side. Friends enjoyed their meal
This is my go to yakiniku restaurant. One of my all time favorites. From the front staff, to servers, and bussers, service is ALWAYS on it. High quality meats. Ambiance can get loud, but it makes for a nice first date spot.
What I love the most are the employees.
They very friendly, polite and young and energetic.
The food are very delicious and fresh.
Please, keep up the good work and thank you very much.
Great place for BBQ. Workers are attentive and take care
Great food for a affordable price. The staff is amazing and so is the atmosphere.
The food was great and the staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful! The vegetables tasted great and so did the marinate for the meats.
Yooo the music selection was popping that night, & the food was sooooo GOOOD! Everything about gyu-kaku that night was awesome! My 6th yrs anniversary was well spent! Service was awesome, I forgot my servers name but he was on it. Thank you again, will come back soon!
Three of our group of 5 seniors arrived a little early for our 5pm reservation, so we started with some appetizers and a pitcher of beer. Was pleasantly surprised at the tangy sauce served with the calamari appetizer! It is a keeper! Our server (Tien) was very accommodating and we really appreciated that! She promptly brought the AYCE menu when we inquired about it (we initially had the Happy Hour menus). All of the other servers that came by were also very fast and efficient. Keep up your great service!
Really enjoyed the special meat dish that came in a cup (boneless kalbi?). This is definitely another keeper! Our group will definitely be back in the near future. DoCoMo Arigatoo gozaimashita!
We made a reservation because we once came but couldn't get in due to how full the restaurant was. We got a table that was off to the corner, which made getting the attention of the server a bit difficult. But we were able to get our food in a timely manner, got out at a good time too. The service could have been better for a Monday night, but it was sufficient.
Always love going to Gyu-Kaku even after they change from wood charcoal to electric. The price seems a little higher than what I recalled a few months back. The AYCE definitely went up. Not really an option for me after the new price tag. Other than that, the staff were great. Food was great.
We order ramen for lunch and the ramen wsa the one we always cook at home...(xxx noodle company)
The price was $9.00,but you can get around $3.00 at the store...
I guess we went at an odd time between lunch & dinner because service was really bad at 430pm. Until the dinner server took over (Nami is awesome) we had a hard time ordering meat for our AYCE or even getting drink refills. None of the lunch servers would make eye contact or even check on us because they seemed to just want to leave. Disappointing as this was our favorite location. I don't advise coming early, wait until after 530pm if you want decent service.
Oustanding service from start to finish!!!
They originally sat us in a small space for 7 people but quickly fixed it, which was superb. Their menu changed along with their pricing, so not as reasonable as it used to be. The food was still delicious but Alex our server was awesome, he made the experience worthwhile. He was very attentive and the food was excellent.
I purchased a $100 Open Table gift certificate to Gyu-Kaku about 7 months ago, and finally was able to use it with my father since I was in Honolulu for a visit. It was our first time there, and our overall dining experience was ok (food quality, service, ambiance). The negative review is for how we were treated after attempting to use the gift certificate at the end of our meal. We were told by the wait staff that there was a problem and after contacting Open Table, we were told that our gift certificate balance was zero, even though we had never been to the restaurant and never used the gift certificate before. My credit card had been charged, but when I tried contacting Open Table and Gyu-Kaku to find out what happened, I have received no response. I strongly advise against purchasing a gift certificate to Gyu-Kaku or any restaurant through Open Table, since your credit card will be charged and the certificate will be of no value. I will never return to a Gyu-Kaku restaurant.
Polite considerate customer service! I'd love to revisit this restaurant
Cullen was amazing! Make sure you tried the dry age kalbi.
Gyu-Kaku has always been one of my personal favorite restaurants, and I am happy to see that it has continued it's good food and service.
Delicious food that you cook yourself.
It was really nice to revisit Gyu kaku . Its been a while, but I really enjoyed my meal. Especially on a busy Christmas night. First seating is always the best.
Great food and service was excellent.
Very good! One of my go to spots!
Like the changes to the menu. Happy hour prices were great!
We liked our experience at gyu kaku a lot
however we are sad that they no longer serve mustard with their delicious sausages
