Gyu-Kaku - Kapiolani
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
What I love the most are the employees.
They very friendly, polite and young and energetic.
The food are very delicious and fresh.
Please, keep up the good work and thank you very much.
Great place for BBQ. Workers are attentive and take care
Great food for a affordable price. The staff is amazing and so is the atmosphere.
The food was great and the staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful! The vegetables tasted great and so did the marinate for the meats.
Yooo the music selection was popping that night, & the food was sooooo GOOOD! Everything about gyu-kaku that night was awesome! My 6th yrs anniversary was well spent! Service was awesome, I forgot my servers name but he was on it. Thank you again, will come back soon!
Three of our group of 5 seniors arrived a little early for our 5pm reservation, so we started with some appetizers and a pitcher of beer. Was pleasantly surprised at the tangy sauce served with the calamari appetizer! It is a keeper! Our server (Tien) was very accommodating and we really appreciated that! She promptly brought the AYCE menu when we inquired about it (we initially had the Happy Hour menus). All of the other servers that came by were also very fast and efficient. Keep up your great service!
Really enjoyed the special meat dish that came in a cup (boneless kalbi?). This is definitely another keeper! Our group will definitely be back in the near future. DoCoMo Arigatoo gozaimashita!
We made a reservation because we once came but couldn't get in due to how full the restaurant was. We got a table that was off to the corner, which made getting the attention of the server a bit difficult. But we were able to get our food in a timely manner, got out at a good time too. The service could have been better for a Monday night, but it was sufficient.
Always love going to Gyu-Kaku even after they change from wood charcoal to electric. The price seems a little higher than what I recalled a few months back. The AYCE definitely went up. Not really an option for me after the new price tag. Other than that, the staff were great. Food was great.
We order ramen for lunch and the ramen wsa the one we always cook at home...(xxx noodle company)
The price was $9.00,but you can get around $3.00 at the store...
I guess we went at an odd time between lunch & dinner because service was really bad at 430pm. Until the dinner server took over (Nami is awesome) we had a hard time ordering meat for our AYCE or even getting drink refills. None of the lunch servers would make eye contact or even check on us because they seemed to just want to leave. Disappointing as this was our favorite location. I don't advise coming early, wait until after 530pm if you want decent service.
Oustanding service from start to finish!!!
They originally sat us in a small space for 7 people but quickly fixed it, which was superb. Their menu changed along with their pricing, so not as reasonable as it used to be. The food was still delicious but Alex our server was awesome, he made the experience worthwhile. He was very attentive and the food was excellent.
I purchased a $100 Open Table gift certificate to Gyu-Kaku about 7 months ago, and finally was able to use it with my father since I was in Honolulu for a visit. It was our first time there, and our overall dining experience was ok (food quality, service, ambiance). The negative review is for how we were treated after attempting to use the gift certificate at the end of our meal. We were told by the wait staff that there was a problem and after contacting Open Table, we were told that our gift certificate balance was zero, even though we had never been to the restaurant and never used the gift certificate before. My credit card had been charged, but when I tried contacting Open Table and Gyu-Kaku to find out what happened, I have received no response. I strongly advise against purchasing a gift certificate to Gyu-Kaku or any restaurant through Open Table, since your credit card will be charged and the certificate will be of no value. I will never return to a Gyu-Kaku restaurant.
Polite considerate customer service! I'd love to revisit this restaurant
Cullen was amazing! Make sure you tried the dry age kalbi.
Gyu-Kaku has always been one of my personal favorite restaurants, and I am happy to see that it has continued it's good food and service.
Delicious food that you cook yourself.
It was really nice to revisit Gyu kaku . Its been a while, but I really enjoyed my meal. Especially on a busy Christmas night. First seating is always the best.
Great food and service was excellent.
Very good! One of my go to spots!
Like the changes to the menu. Happy hour prices were great!
We liked our experience at gyu kaku a lot
however we are sad that they no longer serve mustard with their delicious sausages
They changed menu, so our favorite menu was gone. It was very sad. I guess the price is little going up, but service and taste were good as always.
Our servers name was Nami and she was excellent! I used to manage a restaurant and worked at several and she is outstanding! If you get her you are lucky!!
Very accommodating and service was great!
Great alternative Thanksgiving dinner. They had awesome specials too!
Going dinner with friends. Had a great dinner
Super good food for a fair price and the staff is very nice.
Always a good time, good food and the service exceptional
Casual, comfortable atmosphere. Plenty of options but portions are extremely small for the average person. Friendly and prompt customer service.
Came during their late happy hour. It was my boyfriend’s first time at Gyu-Kaku and it’s probably his last. Throughout the dinner, he didn’t seem pleased. Our server barely checked on us, didn’t seem happy to serve us in the first place. Food portions were somewhat decent .. if you’re there mainly to drink with a group.
Great service and amazing food. Went here for my boyfriends birthday and he thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Great!!!! Went for the kids special for Halloween! What a great deal. Food and service awesome as always! Thanks and Mahalo!!!
Visiting first time after their renovation. Looks nice and cleaner with open space. Menu selection and pricing were reasonable with happy hour menu and pricing. The waitress will give you suggestions on good meat choices!
It was my first time there with my friends and I loved it. Our waiter was the VERY best but I didn’t get his name. Left a generous tip for the great experience and service!
The service here is always friendly and efficient. Making a reservation made a huge difference in our dining experience because every time we've tried to come here the past couple of months, the wait to be seated was 30-60 minutes. So it was nice to be seated quickly and not have to wait. Great food, decent prices, and loved the new menu options as well.
Enjoy coming here for date night with my husband. We always do the Ultimate all u can eat. Also, great happy hour prices on their drinks. Love their Asian pear mojito and husband always orders the sapporo beer.
Great service, fun time and amazing food!!
Cool experience. Can’t get this most places on the us main land. Definitely check it out. Definitely get the s’mores!
