Gyu-Kaku - Denver, CO
We will definitely be back. The drinks were fantastic and the meat was delicious (especially the Harami in Secret Pot)! There were three of us and we ordered the Samurai set for four with two a la carte additions. Emily was a fantastic server and helped us with pacing out the meal so we managed to finish almost everything--and they do allow you to box what you don't finish (such as extra salads, appetizers, s'mores--all the delicious things)!! I was so stuffed, I wasn't hungry until dinner the following day. There was also a parking garage nearby that had parking for under $10, which is nice when you're meeting friends who don't work or live downtown. Loved it! Will repeat. Would recommend others do so as well.
Service was great. The waiters are always patient and willing to explain the menu to first-timers. Food is delicious. Had Yaki-shabu, loved the marinade but it’s a very thin cut of steak so be prepared for a lot of sticking in the grill. Also had the hangar bistro steak, my favorite! Kind of a medium thickness and very tender. Also had the angus beef rib, which was okay but kinda fatty. Just depends on what you like. And the best part is you get to cook it all to your liking. The brunch set comes with a salad, miso soup, rice and your choice of a drink or dessert. All pretty good, but I definitely went for the bbq!
Most delicious meal you can eat anywhere. Value is tremendous. Everyone should try. You will go back. Also it’s super fun to cook your own steak.
My family and I had dinner at this establishment. The service was good but could have been a bit better especially in the refill of drinks. Our waiter did a good job in explaining how the preparation was to be accomplished. The food was good but there are similar places in Denver whose food is superior. Then again this is a chain and not a family run place. We might come back if we are in the neighborhood.
The service was great and the food was amazing. Definitely a great place to go if you’re wanting to try something new.
Overall, it is great experience as a whole packet. Food taste great. Value is good with the quality we get. The only complaint we have is the food getting to our table is slow. Totally we spent 1.5 hours in there. However, time to eat and grill for us maybe around 30 minutes.
Great concept. Fun place to eat
The shrimp wontons were not very good. The noodles mediocre. The grilled pork was the best of what we ordered. That said, the bill was very reasonable.
We have enjoyed Chicago (x3), New York and now Denver locations now. Consistant, delicious and overall a fun experience.
Such a great new place in Denver! Fantastic food, and great customer service. Will definitely come here again. Just make sure you have time, this is not a quick dinner spot. Loved it!
We had some much fun as a family activity. The food was great! Our server was amazing, as well! Hope they open one in OKC in the near future!
Great atmosphere, great food (lots of food). Server was very nice and accommodating
Great fusion between American and Korean style bbq. Good service with a great knowledge of the menu.
Would go back once a month if I lived in Denver.
the music was very loud and didn’t really fit the vibe of the establishment but it was such a fun experience!! highly highly recommend, we came here for my bday and it was amazing!
Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. We arrived twenty minutes early and the staff seated us within the first two minutes of arriving. The ambience was nice and the service was very good, but the serving sizes were small and not really worth $9 on average for the various meats. It seemed to be up-charged because of the location and unique style of food. I wasn’t very impressed, but it was worth a try.
Japanese BBQ with a little American twist. Food is good, and the service is mostly good.
Experience was incredible. Our server/waitress Emily was awesome and very educated on the food. Food was delicious and a fun activity.
The service is always top notch, everyone is super friendly and both times we’ve been in, we’re introduced to other team members and the GM.
As far as food goes, where to even start, there’s nothing on the menu that disappoints. I would highly recommend the brunch menu if there’s 2 people. Otherwise the Samurai option for 4 people is more than enough!
Wonderful and attentive Server!
Fun dining experience.
Similar to Korean BBQ, with a slightly different flavor profile.
Meal packages are a great value with ample food and a great way to try lots of different meats.
Fun experience. The ribeye and other beef cuts were delicious and the staff did a great job of explaining how to grill without overcooking. Salmon came in a foil hobo pocket and cooked perfectly. Assorted veggies were good. Sort of odd you have to ask for rice. I suggest a bowl of rice and place the food on there to enjoy.
This location is a new one for Gyu Kaku, and the decor is very nice! It is the nicest location i’ve ever been to- probably because it’s new but still.
Went for happy hour during the week and didn’t have to wait long.
Tyler our server was excellent!
Great wait staff. Good was too notch. Great value. A little noisy but ok. Will be back.
Worst service out of all the restaurants I’ve been to in Denver. First time around I did a walk in : was told 1 hour wait, then once 1 hour is up they said another hour wait. I made a complaint to the manager but he said he doesn’t care about walk ins, they prioritize open table reservations. Next time around I booked on open table, I got seated 30 mins after my check in time. And then another 15 mins to have someone to come to take the order, then another 20 mins for the food to come out. I talked to people waiting in the lobby and they said this is normal. I can’t believe the despicable service level at this restaurant, will never come back.
Had such a fun time here. We have traveled to Japan a couple of times and yakaniku is one of my favorites! So happy to have this in Denver. Great meal options and also can build your own. We built our own because we didn’t need a lot of food. Had 3 meats and some veggies. It was perfect. Will go back and have a bigger meal sometime soon for sure.
Perfect place for our friends and I to have dinner. We had a group of 5 people and ended up getting the Shogun which feeds 6 people, it is a lot of food! Make sure to bring an appetite, the food is so good. They will bring out starters, then they start bringing out the meats and everything to start grilling yourself with the grill that is in the middle of the table. Desert with these was smores, YUM!!! Our waiter was great and made sure that we were well taken care of.
Our waiter had to be sent home. Waited forever for our check and Dessert.
Food was good but very small portions. Need to do all you can eat like the chains in California
The food was so good! We got one of the meals for two and added a couple extras. It was more than we could eat. Fun to have the grill at our table. Seaweed salad was fresh. Shishito peppers had a tasty sauce.
Great food and service. Great for big parties.
Best meal on our road trip! Would totally come back again.
Great tasting food that we cook ourselves the way we like it. Several different dipping sauces available. They have a weekend brunch menu special. We ordered two of the brunch specials and two of the meat lovers. They both come with dessert. Everything tasted delicious!
I know the tables are limited in space area due to the number of dishes they bring, but I wish they'd bring the food out more quickly instead of having a lull in between some of the courses. There were a couple of times several of us sat waiting to cook more food but there wasn't anything for us to cook until they brought out more. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars for overall. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant and am glad they opened one in Colorado. We've been to a couple of the restaurants in Hawaii. Love this restaurant and always leave having eaten too much, if there is such a thing, lol!
It was a fun experience! Not super kid friendly but not too bad. Our waiter, Tyler, was fantastic! Food was good and I loved the flavors!
Great food and for the price it’s worth it
Reservation was at 8:30, showed up early and still didn’t get sat until after 8:40 PM. Food and service was great even though our food took over 30 min to come out because the kitchen lost our ticket. Didn’t see a manager, but our server was nice and apologized.
It was very good Yakiniku , especially quality of beef is wonderful! If they serve not too sweet Tare(dipping source) but original Japanese Yakiniku’s source, it will be perfect.
Great food and amazing service! We were accommodated even though we came earlier than our reservation. Thank you!
Great food and our server Kris is awesome!! She is super friendly and attentive.
Good food, very friendly and helpful staffs. Great value for set meal.
Amazing, delicious food and dining experience! Great for people that want an engaging experience. The service and ambiance was excellent. This place is great for groups! I love that it’s open late! We plan to come back!
Place was not clean, grill, table, glasses were very dirty, waiter tried hard but could not remember to order, to bring water, we did like the idea, but were hesitate to recommend place, because not sure how clean, the kitchen would be, if the sitting area was not.
