Gyu-kaku - Cupertino Ratings and Reviews
Amazing time! We were immediately seated and loved every part of the meal! We were nervous about the set course but after trying more new food, we found more dishes to order the next time we come back!! Handing out roses on valentine's was a sweet touch as well!!
I would not recommend coming here at 11:30am when they first open. They are not prepped or prepared on time. We waited 30 minutes for our first meat dish to be brought out and it was still frozen and stuck together. Serving a frozen blob of meat is unacceptable for a Japanese BBQ restaurant. One of the meat options was also unavailable because they were waiting on a shipment. Waiting on a shipment or waiting for the frozen meat to thaw?? Who knows.
Made a reservation and was seated promptly upon arrival. We came for a late Sunday lunch and had the happy hour prices. The happy hour set for 2 people + a few more plates was the perfect amount for a filling lunch. It's fun to cook your own food, and the servers were attentive to water and switching the grill.
My fiance and I went here on a Saturday night for date night/early Valentine's Day dinner and I was very surprised at how calm, cool, and collected all the employee's seemed. I ordered my garlic noodles wrong & our server (I didn't get her name) was so awesome and fixed them for me. I can't wait to go back and indulge again.
As usual, everything was wonderful from start to finish.
My friend and I split the meat lovers combo meal. It comes with a ton of meats, a chicken and a shrimp order for you to bbq, as well as a salad, karage, miso soup, rice, and edamame. Everything was delicious.
We were seated within minutes of our reservation and the waiter was over quickly to take our orders, which was great. They were also very attentive during the meal, which was nice when we wanted refills etc... All in all, I couldn’t recommend this place more. It’s a fun, chilled out meal and it’s all for a really fair price. (Definitely sign up for their points plan too!)
*You’ll definitely want to make a reservation to eat here, otherwise be prepared for a long wait.
I've been to the Guy-Kaku in Kapolei, Hawaii and loved the food, service, ambiance, pretty much everything. When I visited California I was so excited to find out they had a restaurant in Cupertino. I scheduled a reservation because I knew our time was limited. We were first to be seated since we had reservations but was last served. Everyone that was in line pretty much was served before us. This wasn't the only issue we had. We had to ask for water refills when clearly all our neighbors were being tended to. They also forgot to bring out an item we ordered. The food portions were also smaller than what we had in Hawaii. Needless to say I would never come to this location again. I would also recommend you try another location elsewhere, the food was not worth the service.
They kick you out of your table after you pay the bill when you’re trying to finish your beer. Mind you with a mighty glare! They care only about turning the table.
We had a good dinner overall. We ordered the $80 sampler, kimchi (which was delivered to us when we’re slmost done with our food), soda, beer, and rice balls. If it wasn’t for my husband wanting to try it out, I would have opt out for some better food and service.
Amazing food!!! Very pricy, but worth the bite. Would recommend more promotion on the happy hour (It was very unfortunate our party barely missed it!) I also wish there was a discount for birthdays and slightly bigger portions. Otherwise, awesome place to go to!
I love this place but this time the service was exceptional! I wish I had gotten names. It was my friends birthday and they made it special. Even though we were there for over 2 hours talking and eating slow they never rushed us. the food is great and it is fun!
Staff was super friendly, attentive, and fairly fast with a minor delay in getting food but overall amazing! I've been here before but my friends hadn't, no one explained the sauces and how long to cook each meat. Fortunately I had been there before but I couldn't recall everything. But for the most part you can tell when meat is cooked so I don't think the guidance was too important unless we were having fish. But overall amazing experience!
