Me and my family went to chicago for Holidays and tried a lot of Restaurants. By far, this is the Best place in Chicago. Great Food, price is reasonable and the kids had fun doing theirs own food. However you should Be careful with the little ones as the grill is really hot and they don't have kids cups, so we had to be alert all the times. Really amazing food and experience.

My low rating is definitely not for their food. I'm not sure if I'm disappoint with the Restaurant or Open Table for this matter. It was for NYE and we wanted to book for dinner around 8ish but when I checked back all the 8ish time slots were gone but 9:15 and 9:30 were available so I booked the 9:15 right away as I worry that I might loss out on these time as well. When we arrived, we found out that they CLOSE at 9:30 and the all you can eat were no longer an options and we need to order now within the 5 mins before the kitchen closed. So why would you even offer 9:15 or 9:30 reservations if you closed at 9:30pm???? Very disappointing.

Absolutely terrific in every way! The food is always delicious and tasty! What most impressed me about our recent visit was that we arrived in a group of 6 adults with one 7 month old baby. We were given a booth initially, which made it hard to seat the baby, since he had to be seated in a carrier. The staff immediately changed our seats to a table seating where the booth was much bigger to allow room for the baby's carrier. I couldn't thank them enough. The food service was also very timely as well, even though it was so busy on New Years Eve. We really enjoyed the food and the time we spent here. Definitely coming back!!

Been here a few times, the food is flavorful and very good, and it’s a fun idea to cook at your own table! However, I just wish you got more food for the price.

The food was delicious and it was a really fun dining experience for our group! Was a bit crowded though, and not much room for those waiting for tables....had a hard time navigating to the bathroom and leaving the restaurant.

Have been coming here since it opened a few years ago, to be honest, this chain is not that popular in Japan but to Americans, this is the new Japanese trend outside of sushi. No wonder it is a big hit. Personally there are better places in the burbs and they are worth the 45 min drive from downtown.

The food is OK here, similar to Japan in terms of quality, but the cuts are random, half of the meat are the standard cuts and the other half can be whatever is left over, this is unacceptable in Japan. This gets worst when they are busy, the quality really goes down. However, meat is meat, as long as you get your food I think it is not too big of a deal. The table service is always great, no complaints, but every time I come here I make a reservation but still have to wait 20 to 30 mins, so a word of advice, make an reservation 30 mins earlier from the time you want to eat.

By the way, if you check out their website, the first location in LA in 2001, it does say Charcoal Yakiniku on the banner, no? Gas and Charcoal tastes very different, I am sure people who had been to a real Japanese Yakiniku place knows the difference.

Somehow my reservation was changed from Xmas eve to 12/26. Even so, the hostess was very accommodating... which meant a lot, since everyone seemed to have wanted to go on Xmas eve as well. We had a great spot and the food was amazing! Definitely planning on returning soon.

This was my second visit, both for special occasions. Terrific service both times and a wide selection of food options. Certainly a good value! Kong was a fantastic server and very attentive. Any chance of another one opening near me in Wilmette?

We don't get a chance to come often, but when we do, we are impressed. The only downfall was that at our table, there wasn't a grilling guide, so we were a little unsure how long exactly we were supposed to cook some items. Because of the noise level, it was hard to hear the server.

Everything else was amazing as always.

Love Gyu-Kaku. Been to the Streeterville location, as well as West Loop. Both places provided great and quick service. Food was yummy. Portions were fair. I'd recommend to go during Happy Hour for the slightly cheaper prices. The portions you receive for what you pay for is decent, though I wish we'd get more. Still love it regardless.

Everything was exceptional...and I mean everything. My only gripe and why it wasn't a full 5 stars is the portions is for kids. I understand how you want "everything to be tasted", but no, you're serving grown adults. It was like paying for all appetizers. A question you should ask is how many people go out to eat directly after your restaurant; that's ridiculous. I came with an appetite and left still hungry.

Outside of that, the flavors was so damn tasty. I had the shrimp dumplings and wings for an appetizer, sirloin steak, garlic chicken, salmon, asparagus, broccoli, and chicken noodles for an entree, all for 2. My mind and taste buds were blown on how tasty it was.

If you like Korean bbq-style dining, you’ll love this restaurant! Just remember to make reservations in advance to avoid a 1-2hr wait. The entire staff was friendly, from the hostesses to the servers, and extremely efficient without making you feel rushed. Friendly service isn’t something I normally expect from an authentic Asian restaurant. The prices were beyond reasonable as well, especially for this side of town. I ordered a beer which was $5 and one of the preset dinners which was priced at under $70 for two people and included all of the following: miso soup, salad, fried potstickers, bibimbop, 6 different cuts of beef and a choice of ice cream or s’mores for dessert. Our server timed the delivery perfectly. We never had too much or too little food on the table at any time. Everything tasted great from the flavorful miso soup to the perfectly marinated slices of beef. We ate as much as we could and still had a ton of leftovers that we brought home for lunch the next day. I will definitely be back to try the seafood options next time (squid, scallops, shrimp, etc.).
