The food looks pretty good but is extremely low quality. This is more like a Disney restaurant. All show and not much go.
Food was delicious. Did a all you can eat. I went with the wife. Only worth it if she can eat as much as you. But I would definitely go again
This is a Japanese/Korean BBQ chain that feels like a local restaurant. Service is outstanding, feels like we were back in Japan the way we were treated - all the right touches. The big deal is cooking your protein and veggies on the gas fired grill in the center of the table. They have regular items - rice and noodle dishes, salads - if you don't want to cook your own, but hey, that's the fun of the place. Everything is fresh, presentation simple and beautiful. It's more fun with a group, although it was just us 2 and worked great.
We are going to find one of the 3 in Florida where we live.
Great experience, fantastic food, a bit noisy. We enjoyed ambiance, which tries to be authentic Japanese. Great opportunity to taste different types of meat. We enjoyed pastries.
Everything was good; the service, the food, the ambiance. The value was not. It's pretty pricey and maybe that's to be expected for a downtown restaurant, but the price and the amount of food did not match.
For the most parts was good. Two things, this time we were seated close to men's restroom, every time restroom door open or close the smells it release out was so bad or I should say it was disgusting.
Server was ok, but she seems like keep forget things. Especially check out time, she just leave check on the table and never came back grab the payment. She pass out table over 3 times and we try to tell her take the payment with her then she can check us out. After more than 10 mins wait we decided take the check and card to the reception desk check ourself out then we can go shopping a little bit.
Overall was ok, food still good. Just I will never ever want to sit any close to the restroom door again.
Great fun. Good and interesting food, very good service. Best of all, quiet enough that we could have a conversation.
This style of yakimono (grilled food) where the grill is in the center of the table and everyone grills their own food is actually from Korean culture. A somewhat similar Japanese preparation is Shabu-Shabu, where the center of the table is a pot of boiling water to which each diner adds raw foods to be parboiled or boiled (and is a very authentic traditional Japanese cooking preparation), but cultural appropriation aside, the food was good, the ambience authentic and the service excellent. I particularly recommend the duck breast and the "Addicting Cabbage Salad", closely followed by the hangar steak with garlic mushrooms and zucchini.
Ons small complaint: I had indicated on the reservation that our guest of honor was recovering from a stroke, but they seated us on the second floor without showing us that they had an elevator (the hostess walked us up the stairs). If one is going to ask about special circumstances and needs, then one should take them into account.
Food is more expensive with smaller portion. It’s unusually to increase price and give smaller portion at the same time.
I woud totally recommend this to everyone. Great price, great food and great service!
It was perfect! The food was great and the drinks were super good. Definitely going back soon!
I love the fish bowl drink. It was huge. There was no wait since we had reservations. The music was cool. And the best part of it all was the food and the service.I would definitely come again.
Coming to this place and BBQ your own food on your own table is a great idea and feeling. I loved it!
I went with a group of friends to Gyu-Kaku after a business conference for our final evening together. It was an amazing experience. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and a wonderful end to our weekend together!
i first went there for my birthday january 19 2018 a party of 10. had a great time loved it, my sister who had came to celebrate my birthday liked it and wanted to bring the kids, so i booked another reservation for her, which was a party of ten, it was the same great, will be dining there again
Very nice place but people talk too loud. Foods are good, and I love the all you can eat buffet
I love this place. Will return many times in the future.
Every time we are in Chicago we have to come here. It’s absolutely delicious. The premium all you can eat options are fantastic. Everything on the menu is great! Especially the beef tongue!!!
Tasty but a little bit over seasoned. The virgin drink is great!
this place is amazing, great service, great food, and great experience, i'll be going back again!
Went here for my boyfriends birthday. Awesome place. Amazing food. Love how you can cook your own food at your table, to your liking! Affordable prices and just an over all awesome experience. 10/10 will definitely go again!
Great food and great service!
We went for Valentine’s Day. The menu they put together was very filling and delicious. A little bit expensive but it was a different experience and very worthy.
Healthy food and fun to cook it yourself. Been many times and never disappoints!
Had a great experience with great food and service to match!
Very accommodating. Great experience. Food and drinks were excellent!
What an awesome spot in Chicago! Didnt realize my wife and I also went to the same chain while in Kyoto. It was (understandably) much different out there but still amazing to have one (2 actually) in our home town. We will be back.
Love this franchise. Have eaten in Orlando too.
Just a wonderful experience, more like an adventure. Great food selection, fantastic service, quite semi-secluded booth. Great senior discount, recommend the Ultimate on the all you can eat menu. Hope to visit again soon.
It used to be better that this. I'm regular customer here, I dine once or twice a month. The portion I got today is less than usual and price is increased. I dont mind price increasing, but the restaurant should not do both price increasing and giving smaller portion. It does not make sense to me. It's not value my money anymore.
Food great as always. Got a special care from manager and staff. Thank you so much
Great quality meat! Nice service!
Food, and drinks were awesome as usual. I had a great waitress. It was quiet, cozy and a very comfortable environment.
I stop at Gyu-Kaku everytime I visit Chicago. The food is high quality, the atmosphere is wonderful, and it is fun to cook your own food. I even brought my parents who almost exclusively eat American food, and they loved it!
Excellent food and service! I highly recommend this place.
Excellent food and service, our waiter was very thorough helping us navigate the menu after we mentioned it was our first time there. Plethora of food to choose from it would be impossible to not find anything you like. The Japanese beer was great and capping off your meal with a s'more is never a bad idea!
The food and the service were really great! We loved getting to choose our meats & sides and being able to cook right at the table. We had a fantastic time! Cannot wait until our next visit!
Absolutely wonderful restaurant, great cuisine, great service. Went there on Wednesday evening, the place was a hotspot! Definitely would recommend if you are visiting Chicago for the first time.
Fantastic dining experience
great place for friends party
