This restaurant was a delicious date night. My boyfriend and I stopped here for appetizers, wine, & s’mores after ice skating in Maggie Daley and it was perfect. Great prices and a great atmosphere, with even better food.

This was my first time there and the staff didn’t do a great job explaining the menu. Other than that it was fun and entertaining cooking eating and talking.

Food was absolutely delicious and a very unique dining experience where you cook your own meat. So fun for an anniversary.

If you like Korean bbq-style dining, you’ll love this restaurant! Just remember to make reservations in advance to avoid a 1-2hr wait. The entire staff was friendly, from the hostesses to the servers, and extremely efficient without making you feel rushed. Friendly service isn’t something I normally expect from an authentic Asian restaurant. The prices were beyond reasonable as well, especially for this side of town. I ordered a beer which was $5 and one of the preset dinners which was priced at under $70 for two people and included all of the following: miso soup, salad, fried potstickers, bibimbop, 6 different cuts of beef and a choice of ice cream or s’mores for dessert. Our server timed the delivery perfectly. We never had too much or too little food on the table at any time. Everything tasted great from the flavorful miso soup to the perfectly marinated slices of beef. We ate as much as we could and still had a ton of leftovers that we brought home for lunch the next day. I will definitely be back to try the seafood options next time (squid, scallops, shrimp, etc.).

Tasty. Had never been before, but was pleasantly surprised. Lots of good options, and like the Korean BBQ style cook at your table part too!

The food is great, this is my fifth time visiting here. However, I never had this bad of the service, she did not bring the correct food and insist she brought everything we ordered. A lot of the food that has been charged on our check is incorrect.

This place is always very crowded but we had a large booth and service was quick. Food was delicious as always and fairly priced.

It is a very famous Japanese restaurant. Last time when I was at Tokyo, I have not made a reservation so I didn't have the chance to taste it. So luckily, I feel happy when I go to Gyu-Kaku at Chicago. Things are delicate and tasty here. There are a lot Asians eating here so it is definitely recommended.

The Gyu-Kaku provided good food; beef and other things were impressive. HOWEVER, the front desk staff did a terrible job. We arrived early, so we did not have seats immediately. That was okay, but we wait until about half hour later than reserved time. They did have seats available, but they treated us same as those without reservation. I mean I did not have idea for why do they accept reservations.

This was the first time I visited there since they added all you can eat. I am not a fan since I can’t order certain items unless I can do all you can eat. I wish they will bring the full menu back to people who are not ordering all you can eat.

Busy! Make sure you have a reservation. Good food that you have cook. For the price, I'd prefer someone else cook, but can see the social, uniqueness to the experience. Note: don't waste your money on the sake flight. Two of the three were gross.

We drove 5 hours for this, it is worth it, $50/person, not bad for a variety of meet and vegetable selection, includes good appetizers. One thing I don’t like is the mochi ice cream, not a big different from a supermarket, not tasty.

I'm Japanese.
I sometimes went to gyuukaku in Japan.
I think Japan's gyuukaku are better than American gyuukaku, but it's very good.
There are many menus , and good service!!

This place was amazing! First time at a Japanese BBQ place and it was very fun. Our server Xavier was very welcoming and explained how everything worked well. All of the staff were friendly as well! This is a great place to go with a group of friends or family. Highly recommended.

We've been to Gyu-Kaku 3 times; once in NY and twice in Streeterville. Both times in Chicago, we had a reservation through Open Table. Both times, we waited more than a half hour to be seated. After a half-hour, I went to speak with the manager who found us seating on the 3rd floor. Once seated, the service is excellent and the food is quite good. We ordered the Shogun- prix fixed menu for 4 guests twice. The food comes very quickly; almost too quickly for the amount of food on the Shogun in order to truly dine rather than rush such delicious food. We will come back. When we return, we would order a la carte as there was actually too much food for us. Wait staff are attentive and pleasant.

Overall it was a great experience (as it always is). The service was a bit slow and they brought out the wrong order multiple times, however. I don't know if they were understaffed or just very busy. It normally isn't that bad. Our out of town guests were very disappointed.
