What a great experience! Packages were available to help us select a nice spread of meal options. The staff supports any questions, food comes out fast - it was all amazing.
Been to the Gyu-Kaku in Flushing, NY so when we saw there was one in Chicago we were excited to go. The service was great, the staff was super nice, and the food was amazing. Love this restaurant
Having tried Korean bbq in Taiwan and Hibachi in Tokyo. This was new. To sit and cook small bits of food and talk - it’s great. The bistro steak, belly pork, spicy shrimp and salmon great taste. We had octopus and gyoza as starters. Nice change from so so food.
Great restaurant! Loved the food. Might not want to get a reservation at 9 because last call is 9:15.
Really great food and a fun way to eat dinner. It took over an hour to get our check but they were super busy so it was understandable. I would definitely eat here again
Unfortunately I became extremely sick after eating here but I blame myself as you cook all food yourself. Service was great! The place is a bit outdated for being in river north. Definitely needs a makeover
Food was good. Service wasn’t the best. They didn’t ask us for refills on our drinks. We ran out of something to drink before the meal was over. Felt rushed out of there since they were closing up for the night.
Just a place to get a quality meal with a lot of choices. Great value in the heart of downtown Chicago. Love going there.
Got lunch special sets with 3 meats each for the two of us. Great value. Comes with soup salad and rice. Kids meal is a good portion too!
An exceptional experience with delicious food that doesn’t leave your pockets empty. Easily one of the best places we ate while in the States. Great selection of beers, of Japanese food (that is not tepanyaki or sushi) and of steaks. We really really enjoyed it
Amazing food and dedicated service! Definitely recommend checking this place out!
Great experience! Food was amazing, my wife and I went during happy hour for my birthday and value for all the food you get is amazing.
Sticky table , booth not do clean but service was amazing
Super fun, the rib eye was BOMBER
Great Korean BBQ. Super fun to dine at. I would highly recommend it! The food was great. There was a bit of a wait even after making reservations so I would highly recommend making a reservation.
I’m Shocked this was rated as highly. The dinner for 4 had the most tough fatty low grade meats I’ve ever had anywhere . Had to spit out much of it . To pay over $120 for this awful food makes me very angry . I barely ate anything . The soup was Beth salty . The only decent item was the salad . Hard to mess that up . I expected this to be similar to the high quality meats that Benihana has served us, but it’s nowhere near that. I will definitely not be dining here again.
The food and staff was amazing. Great event with kids. Mine are 6 and 9 years old and had a blast
Great food and service! Love this place! Recommend getting one of the packages which have a little bit of everything.
Overall the food was good. Not until we finished to eat did we realize that the order was incomplete, in addition to this we were over charged, thankfully we noticed it.
I had a lunch with my friend. Lunch special was a very good deal and service was excellent.
Very good, they need better bar variety
We got the all you can eat menu and it was phenomenal! We already tried most of the menu items a la carte so knows exactly what to order and how to grill efficiently. Items arrives fast and our servers are so helpful! Highly recommend if you already know how to grill using their system.
This place is good for any occasion. My husband and i just went for a new experience, but there were people there for different reasons. There’s really no dress code, but I wouldn’t show up looking unpleasant.
It was great for lunch. This was the first time we had cooked our food at our private grill at a restaurant.
Marked special occasion when making the reservation but nothing was acknowledged. From the moment we sat down we were rushed. Courses kept coming out on top of each other to the point where we had no room on the table. Been several times to this and other locations, and service was unacceptable this time. No offer of coffee. We are midway through dinner when they dropped off our dessert on the table and check.
The food was great. The place was small, but comfortable.
nice place for the price！PS I was thinking about all you can eat but this one is not.
Fun place to eat and good value for tatsy food.
The food was good as always.
Used to be a great place for a unique experience. First time back since the pandemic. In one word the place now SUCKS.
We had all you can eat. But the server charged us extra on ice cream and it was supposed to be free item on the menu!!!!
This place was amazing! First time coming to a real Korean/Japanese bbq place. Servers had great recommendations and service was great. The meat and vegetables were high quality and were prepared delightfully! Great place for first-timers.
I never like writing a negative review but this one is a must to do. We have gone to this particular restaurant multiple times and never experienced the ridiculousness of what transpired. We were there on Monday, January 21 to celebrate a birthday. The downstairs was inoperable and thus everyone had to be upstairs - okay. Then it took 45 minutes to get drinks to the table and just prior to the last drink arriving we asked what was taking so long only to be told that the server was mixing the drink (martini) - which was his veery first. That drink went back upon arrival and then a wine was ordered in which was almost undrinkable - that went back and finally settled on just getting hot sake. If you can't have decent wine or a bartender then strongly suggest to EVERYONE to just get the sake - nothing to screw up.
I had spoken with the manager and while we were talking he said okay I understand (never apologizing) and that he would take care of the drinks. He did stop by the table a little later to ensure everyone was good - we expressed our displeasure at the service thus far and he then stated he would take care of some of the food. We were not looking for free stuff but it has to do with what transpired at the end of the meal.
At the end of the dinner (in which the birthday girl was served a very small scoop of ice cream with fudge (really in a Japanese restaurant) - we looked at the check and then asked the waiter to go and talk to the manager (remember the drinks and food comments above). Another manager stopped by and said that he knew nothing about it and that the other manager was gone - so he was going to leave the check as is (in his words). NOT ACCEPTABLE and we requested he go call the other manager as that was not the discussion we had. They ended up taking some of the drinks off but that's it. NOT APOLOGETIC AT ALL ABOUT THE MIX UP - which again is unacceptable in a service based industry.
Not sure if we will ever go back. No recommendation until better
Really tired of the some days you can get all you can eat others you cant, then we order the mountain special of beef at 4:30 and are told they only have 5 for the day and we can’t get it…been going for years and probably will not be going back
Be aware lunch combo when you want to select Kalbi meat.
There were Kalbi and Prime Kalbi.
For prime one you have to pay $5 more.
So 2 prime Kalbi costs $22.50,not $12.50.
Easily can be confused because there is Kalbi meat without extra charge.
Their lunch menu is misleading you if you have a low eyesight.
Be careful when you select meats for your lunch combo.
I celebrated my graduation with my family, and the three of us were STUFFED splitting the 2 person happy hour deal. Quality and value are definitely there :)
The good: We chose the all you can eat option only available on weeknight but you have to ask for the menu. The food quality was good and tasty. The not so good: On arriving, the place is disheveled, outdated mask and body temperature requirements, multiple signs warning of pickpockets, and the seats were sticky at my table. It took about 30 minutes to get service due to a shift change but once we got our waiter he was really good. No Asahi beer due to broken system but the Kirin was cold. The place needs a good cleaning.
It was awesome
Steak was delicious, garlic noodles were great, vegetables were underwhelming. Enjoyed our experience, but the place could use some sprucing up.
