The entire experience was just great and not expensive at all.
Great as always !
I had never been to this restaurant and this was a place my mom picked out for my birthday! The apps. we’re amaizng and we’re a great start to the meal. The selection of meats was so cool and delicious. The meat lovers for 6 was definitely a great and fair priced dinner that fed and tatsted great!! I can’t stop thinking about the restaurant i want to go back for every special occasion now! Definitely a great recommendation restaurant.
My impression in here is Gyu-Kaku offers good quality meats, but I have to say these are a lot salty for me.
Our cooktop wasn’t working in spite of multiple attempts to fix it. They eventually moved us, gave us back some time and comped one of the dinners.
Loved everything about this place! Food was great, not too noisy, and had quick service. Definitely see myself visiting other locations.
Loved it! Awesome service! Great food!
We enjoyed our time at Gyu-Kaku. We went to a place in Tokyo that had a charcoal hibachi at the bar. It was similar here, but with gas. Had a very cautious child with us, would not recommend for a regular kiddo. We chose all beef options.
Loved this place. First time here and will definitely return. We went with the ultimate all you can eat and it was awesome. Go for the meats and skip the salads. Any meat that is seasoned is very good. Also their chicken garlic noodles are so good. Service is fast and definitely make reservations.
Awesome spot! Never been before and will be going back for my birthday feast!
This is my favorite restaurant. We get the bistro hirami hangar steak, bi bim bop, chicken garlic noodles, and the nigori sake.
The staff is really friendly and really make it feel like you walked out of Chicago into a popular restaurant in Japan. The food is really tasty, and grilling it yourself makes it fun. Portions are decent for the price, but unless you're there for the lunch specials expect to pay about $30 minimum per person for the most basic dinner.
Grabbed the AYCE for my family and cousins. Our waiter was very nice and was attentive to our needs. Staff visited our table frequently to check up on our meal. Overall great first experience and will be coming back soon!
Awesome gathering with friends. We ordered meat lover for 6 and worth for what we paid. Good meats! Highly recommend
Japanese BBQ is a different experience and a lot of fun. Their menu can appeal to everyone from those wanting BBQ’d meats and seafood to those wanting sushi or noodles. All of the food we tried was great.
Great engagement with the grill for everyone. Can get overwhelming with how quickly the meats come out, but the s’mores were a great ending to things.
Very nice Japanese BBQ! Took off shoes and was so relaxing with Horigotasu-style tables.
Trip to the city with our teens. Delicious, slow paced dinner!
We went to Guy-Kaku to celebrate my son's birthday. The food was great as was the service. Our waiter took his time to explain how to use the center grill. We would definitely recommend it!
Our waiter was less than friendly or helpful. We sat down and asked for the all you can eat menu, which is $50 per person. Before handing us a menu, he stated that we’d not be able to use the full 90minutes, because he had a party coming in after us. We thought that was rude, because we weren’t trying to rush the dinner along....all you can eat or not! We had 7 people at the table and he only took my drink order. He came back three separate times to take drinks, because he’d walk away so quickly we couldn’t order. Finally he brought the menu, one menu for seven people!!! I asked for more, but they never came. Our waters had things floating in them, we asked for new water, never came. Some of our guests wanted forks, it took a few courses for those to come. He’d forget our orders, go missing for long periods of time and return with nothing, so we’d have to order again. I had one great experience at this place with exceptional service, so my fiancé and I wanted to bring our parents and my brother. They were all very underwhelmed. We also only had one grill for 7 people! So unfortunately 2 people were stuck cooking for all of us. I don’t know if I’ll return.
I do love the Gyu and encourage everyone to try this truly authentic Japanese experience. This is no sushi stereotype. This is a real chain from Japan feeding and entertaining the way its done for real. No pomp and circumstance. Meat on grill. Fun by all. Just wish the Happy Hour anytime Gold status VIP didn't disappear. A heads up would have been nice.
Service was outstanding. Great experience grilling fresh at the table. Huge selection to choose from. Whole family enjoyed.
awesome as always perfect service and yummy food will recommend
The food looks pretty good but is extremely low quality. This is more like a Disney restaurant. All show and not much go.
Our favorite spot to eat! Always delicious!
All you can eat premium buffet was excellent!!
Food was delicious. Did a all you can eat. I went with the wife. Only worth it if she can eat as much as you. But I would definitely go again
This is a Japanese/Korean BBQ chain that feels like a local restaurant. Service is outstanding, feels like we were back in Japan the way we were treated - all the right touches. The big deal is cooking your protein and veggies on the gas fired grill in the center of the table. They have regular items - rice and noodle dishes, salads - if you don't want to cook your own, but hey, that's the fun of the place. Everything is fresh, presentation simple and beautiful. It's more fun with a group, although it was just us 2 and worked great.
We are going to find one of the 3 in Florida where we live.
Great experience, fantastic food, a bit noisy. We enjoyed ambiance, which tries to be authentic Japanese. Great opportunity to taste different types of meat. We enjoyed pastries.
Everything was good; the service, the food, the ambiance. The value was not. It's pretty pricey and maybe that's to be expected for a downtown restaurant, but the price and the amount of food did not match.
For the most parts was good. Two things, this time we were seated close to men's restroom, every time restroom door open or close the smells it release out was so bad or I should say it was disgusting.
Server was ok, but she seems like keep forget things. Especially check out time, she just leave check on the table and never came back grab the payment. She pass out table over 3 times and we try to tell her take the payment with her then she can check us out. After more than 10 mins wait we decided take the check and card to the reception desk check ourself out then we can go shopping a little bit.
Overall was ok, food still good. Just I will never ever want to sit any close to the restroom door again.
Great fun. Good and interesting food, very good service. Best of all, quiet enough that we could have a conversation.
This style of yakimono (grilled food) where the grill is in the center of the table and everyone grills their own food is actually from Korean culture. A somewhat similar Japanese preparation is Shabu-Shabu, where the center of the table is a pot of boiling water to which each diner adds raw foods to be parboiled or boiled (and is a very authentic traditional Japanese cooking preparation), but cultural appropriation aside, the food was good, the ambience authentic and the service excellent. I particularly recommend the duck breast and the "Addicting Cabbage Salad", closely followed by the hangar steak with garlic mushrooms and zucchini.
Ons small complaint: I had indicated on the reservation that our guest of honor was recovering from a stroke, but they seated us on the second floor without showing us that they had an elevator (the hostess walked us up the stairs). If one is going to ask about special circumstances and needs, then one should take them into account.
Food is more expensive with smaller portion. It’s unusually to increase price and give smaller portion at the same time.
I woud totally recommend this to everyone. Great price, great food and great service!
It was perfect! The food was great and the drinks were super good. Definitely going back soon!
I love the fish bowl drink. It was huge. There was no wait since we had reservations. The music was cool. And the best part of it all was the food and the service.I would definitely come again.
Coming to this place and BBQ your own food on your own table is a great idea and feeling. I loved it!
I went with a group of friends to Gyu-Kaku after a business conference for our final evening together. It was an amazing experience. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and a wonderful end to our weekend together!
