Gyu-Kaku - Chicago, IL | West Loop
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
The meat quality not as good as before.. I had stomach sick after dinner..
The food was outstanding. The service was extraordinary. My husband and su can’t wait to eat there again.
Our waiter was our biggest issue.... The food wasn't as good as it always is. We've been here many many times and it has NEVER this bad. Highly disappointed
Brunch deal for two is amazing. Plenty of appetizers and meats for the price and just the right amount to fill us up. Service was great too—mindful and attentive.
Food was amazing and service was extraordinary will definitely go back
My friend and I had a great time. The two guys that served us were super friendly and helpful. I love the vibe. Everyone's all smiles. Even though it's a little expensive, I would definitely come here again!
Great food as always, attentive staff
Always a great experience at Gyu-kaku. Everything tastes amazing. Liked the music selection.
Excellent! Really good and attentive service by Nathan. Good food and a wonderful experience on the whole.
Great experience. Found this place when searching Korean BBQ. Learned that there is a slight difference in the marinating methods. Went on a Wednesday around 5:30PM. I had a RSVP and there was no wait. Great service, nice selection of meats. The server even brought out ice cream to help celebrate my husband's birthday. I will return!
The meat quality is worse and worse each time. They used to be great quality and right thickness. All you need is to count according to their guideline for grilling perfection. But, it's not anymore.... And, the music is just too old to play in such modern restaurant.
This location seems a little disappointed compared to the downtown location. Server miss a couple thing on my order. We come to dine in the happy hours and the food quantity seems less compare to regular price menu which most of them discount for only $1-$2 different in regular price. We are not sure if we suppose to get less food at happy hours price but I thought the purpose is to attract more customer in off peak time. The additive cabbage salad is a total disappointment, I would recommend the spicy cabbage salad but this location quantity is almost half of what downtown location offer for the same price. I would not come back to this location.
I arrived 10 minutes late and tried to call the restaurant twice to tell them. They never picked up. We got there 10 minutes late and they said their policy was to give up our table. Everything other than the hostess, Victoria, was great.
She then marked me as a no show on open table after I specifically told her we were there.
The service was amazing for a busy Friday night. Brought friends who had never been and they loved it. Food was delicious as always. Such a fun experience!
Meal was great! Service was also very good and waiter was knowledgeable.
Great spot to celebrate a birthday. The servers were very friendly and made the first time Asian bbq experience really fun. They also brought out a complimentary birthday dessert, which is rare these days.
Great place! I enjoyed cooking the meat in front of me, it was a great dining experience.
First time having the all you can eat option. Fantastic experience!
Great food, great service, fun environment!
Had an amazing meal here! The service was excellent! Our waiter, I think his name was Maurice? was very attentive, and super friendly! Only criticism was that we couldn’t keep up with the cook times they suggested! Wish there was like a cheat sheet or something posted at the table! Also, we didn’t get the special cut of beef in the special sauce for the last dish of our set dinner. My friend was very disappointed Bc that was her fave! But the waiter offered us skirt steak in the same sauce and ice cream to make up for it! Overall, highly recommended!!!
The food and service are great.
I take my girlfriend out to Gyu quite often, i would say we’ve been there about 15+ times. Never how ever at 9:45. I saw that Gyu took reservations that late. How ever when i walked in i didn’t expect to see the empty tables with the grills taken out. So they had to re assemble to grill in front of us. I was then told i need to order all my meat now if i wanna do the grill experience. i then over ordered which i don’t care. After i started to get my food. finding a server was impossible. we had a total of 3 different servers. I had to wait 10 plus minutes to get my grill cover changed. then employees started to clean up around me. flip up chairs. start sweeping dust and debris all around my table. Then an employee took my sauces because they had to go in the fridge i was told. MID MEAL! i was waiting for a server for the check. i got the check. then couldn’t pay for it. so i had to walk up to worker who was cleaning and pay him out of cash like i was at a diner where u walk up and pay after u eat.
ill probably be back but never at that time. you shouldn’t provide that time slot if the experience is not like the other times provides
The food and service were top notch. The air conditioner was not on which made for a miserable dining experience. We left early because of the unbearable heat.
We caught them on a bad night. No A/C, which resulted in fruit flies dive-bombing our table. Couple that with a Chicago summer over a oven in the middle of the table and it was a hot one to say the least. Wish we could’ve removed those variables as that may have resulted in a higher rating. That said, the amount of food we got was very generous but the quality was average. Good cocktails and our waiter was very attentive.
Came here for a double date night to celebrate with our friends and were super excited. After sitting down we realized we had all been there before. We got seated outside and ordered some package for the 4 of us with drinks. Our waitress did not pay attention to us and multiple times we had to wave another waiter over to fill the water under our grill cause the oil was burning under it. When they brought out our food they forgot the order of shrimp and when we mentioned it to our waitress she said "No I think you have it"... we didn't. When she got it and brought it to us no apology. Then the final straw was that when we got our bill everything was double charged on our receipt. When we mentioned it to her, again no apology or anything.
Overall we had a great meal but the service definitely left room to be desired.
My favorite place to eat when I’m in the city
Food is excellent, just a little expensive. You can save money by going during happy hour. The cocktails are good. Atmosphere is fun a d friendly.
Ann was so nice and helpful. She explained the menus to my family and I. She helped us decide what to choose. All excellent choices. Thanks again Ann. Definitely recommended. Good food and vibes all around.
It was a great experience, good service and good food.
It was good
Very nice! First time going. The food was interesting. The rice was plain needed more flavor. Very nice ambiance. Overall great experience.
Fun and different, this is a great place for a cozy group of four to experience together.
Great food, friendly service. Highly recommend it!
Highly recommend this place. The food was great!! And a great experience!!
Great food. Great service. Best beef in town.
It was too hot inside the restaurant. Would have been 5 stars all around if they had AC.
Beyond satisfied with the service and food. The ambiance was great and sake drink was delicious! Great for a date night!
Fantastic food, better service!
Love this place! Parking is tough and I would highly recommend reservations. Especially on the weekend!
Great experience every time . One of my favorite spots to frequent.
