Overall a great experience. Took my GF here for a dinner date, I also wanted to try Japanese Wagyu without spending $200+ so this place, Gyu-Kaku was the perfect fit. Gyu-Kaku conveniently touches a parking garage for those who have to travel far to get here. The interior is compact in the waiting area and youre relatively close to other guests in the initmate/cozy restaurant setting but by no means did i feel crowded. We went at 630pm on a weeknight and it was quiet, noise wise, definitely quieter than the average setting. Now to the important part... The service was ok. Granted these waiters/waitresses seem to have more responsibilities given the nature of the restaurant, grill swapping and oiling more small trays of food to be brought , so I understand why they might not be as on top of the customers as a normal (foods already made) restaurant. All 3 menus, yes 3, had various different options for every type of Japanese BBQ lover and was easy to navigate. The food was great and the value was unreal, would be a great meal for almost any occasion. You can order a light fare or pig out, whatever floats your boat.

TLDR: Cozy atmosphere, Quiet (when i went at 630 on a weeknight), great food with big variety, great bang for your buck. Highly recommend

A step above a typical Korean BBQ restaurant. The top tier Supreme all you can eat is my favorite choice because you have access to the best cuts of meat. There are a lot of excellent side dishes as well such as the Addicting Spicy Cucumber.

Great experience! Good food! Server Abby was excellent and very accommodating. Here are several things you can improve:
1. We booked an appointment for 8 pm and we still had to wait for 30 mins. The waiting space is also very limited. Most of us had to stand...
2. The sitting space is also very crowded. We had 8 people sharing 1 stove. I sat on the very edge and was not able to cook without me stretching out. I think max is 6 people sharing 1 stove.
3. The biggest mistake was that I asked Christian for water for our group because I didn't see Abby nearby. He helped us out. I was sitting on the edge and I had a bag of stuff and couple jackets put on the extra chair next to me. However, when he was pouring the last cup, he didn't control the ice properly and spilled some on our jacket. I looked at him, thought that he was going to apologize for it and clean it up for me, but he just stared at me back. He put down the cup and left. I had to stand up and clean up myself. Since it was quite dark in the restaurant, I couldn't see how much water was spilled. I thought maybe it just sprinkled on my jacket, but when I was cleaning up, I wiped out the water on my jacket, and realized that my plastic bag was all wet too! He must have dripped when he was filling every single cup! Good that I have enclosed the bag so it didn't go into my bag, otherwise I would be very mad since it was a gift I bought for my friend in the bag. I regretted that I didn't ask Abby for water because i am sure she won't make this kind of mistake. Even she did, I think she will apologize. We still tipped the regular amount since Abby did a great job. But with Christian's attitude, I was glad that he was not our server and I don't think his quality matches the quality of the restaurant.

We waited for more than half an hour for our table. The food was fun but average. Much better bbq elsewhere. This place caters to the Harvard student crowd. Good value overall but I won’t be back

The food here is really GOOD! I celebrated my birthday here with group of 12. I choose the all your can eat menu. The only thing that i am not satisfied is we had 12 people and spent almost 900$ there but the waitress came to our table for almost 10 times to rush us and said there is another group behind us and asked us to leave in 10 minutes. I think when the restaurant saw the reservation with 12 people and celebrating birthday, they need to arrange the time for next reservation properly. We did not talk too much and not enjoy our birthday cake at all because the waitress said we must leave in 5 mins. I think it is rude.

The BBQ was pretty neat and delicious just a bit costly and I can understand why so no complaints there. Would recommend this place to my friends it really nice for a special occasion. One thing is though, our server did spill water on the table and two of our group members. Through the inconvenience we were not offered a new (dry) table until requested and the menus they brought over were the ones that still were wet. No compensation was offered for this inconvenience which felt like they didn’t care that it had even happened.

There was a lot of food and the value was great. You do not even have to get the all you can eat meal because the regular one comes with more than enough for two people. I wrote that we were celebrating a birthday on opentable and they did something special for us. I will be back to try other things.

Gyu-Kaku is small place for groups of people to sit around a grill and cook their own meat. They offer 3 types of buffets, starting at $35 per person for a limited selection (at least 8 different meats), up to $55 per person. There is a time limit of 90 minutes, but we stayed for about 2 hours to finish dessert. Highly recommend making a reservation rather than gambling on waiting for a table.

We love the food and the fact you get to try so many dishes. The waitress was very helpful. Although the first set of dishes you order and the time it takes to get your second set was spread out. We did some waiting here and there. Maybe on purpose to slow you down? The hostess and servers were great.

Consistently not my favorite location. This location might be under-staffed. It can be hard to get a hold of the waiter or other servers passing by. Food was okay. It was ruined by the malfunctioning grill. The flame would often disappear and it was hard to control the temperature. Our table's grill was also too strong on one side and not hot enough heat on the other. It was difficult to work with and the meats quickly became overcooked. Next time I will ask to change tables.

Terrible experience! Shabby and not clean! Servers had our audacity to wear hospital gloves while servicing table. Had a 8:30pm reservation and not sat until 9:15p, then as the server placed the first course on our table she informed that the kitchen was closing. !!!

Despite that we were given a 15% discount I will never ever recommend or go back to that establishment!

Another great find on OpenTable. I was staying in Burlington for business, but so worth the drive. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was extremely friendly and explained their many many options. When I say everything I had was delicious, I mean it! Will be returning or visiting one of their many locations.

I made a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday, and it was definitely the right choice as the restaurant was super crowded when we arrived. We were seated promptly and we decided to get the Premium All You Can Eat menu. Our waiter let us know that, because the kitchen was a little backed up on orders that night, that if we eat quickly, we should order a lot at once so we didn't have to keep waiting for each small order. The All You Can Eat menu had a lot to choose from, even though the Premium level isn't the most expensive All You Can Eat menu, and overall the food was really good quality and our waiter was great.

We put our name on the list. She said an hour to an hour and a half. Over two hours later we were finally seated. They clearly prioritize asain patrons as witnessed by other small groups walking in without a reservation and being seated before us.

I was disappointed every time I was in this one in Harvard Sq. The server had an unfriendly face all the time. She didn't really come to check with us unless we asked other server to bring her. I like the Gyu-Kaku in Brookline, but I need to reserve early to get a seat there. This one in Harvard sq just not runs well.

We went to Gyu-Kaku for my daughter's birthday; she loves Japanese food, and the ambiance here is wonderful!. We would fully recommend this restaurant to anyone; we had my 80 year old mom who is in a wheelchair with us and there was no problem getting her in the restaurant, to a table, and to use the facilities. It was a great night!

It's very good and very worth the drive. It's a little bit on the pricier side, roughly $60-$80 a person depending on if you get drinks or can the ultimate vs. premium all you can eat, but well worth it. Not much street parking but a garage is next door and you can validate the ticket.
