Gyu-Kaku - Vancouver, BC | Broadway
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh, high-quality meats!
As we do get very busy during peak hours and we do require reservations for maximum 2 hours dining time only. We are sorry for the inconveniences and we thank you for your cooperation.
For all reservations we do hold a 15 minute grace period for the reserved table, if the party is late after the 15min, the reservation will be cancelled.
Again, we thank you for booking your reservation with Gyu-Kaku and we look forward in seeing you soon!
Nice place to hang out with friends
Always pretty nice to go during lunch hour. Less people, less noise, same great service and awesome food. Better than the DT location in terms of environment. Recently, the great promos are hard to resist.
We all loved everything, meats, veggies even the bill.
Food and service was excellent. We dined to celebrate our daughter ‘s birthday. The service was excellent as was the food. You’d be surprised how quickly you fill up. Recommend anyone who wants to have a food adventure!
Overall is pretty good except at the end we been rush to leave because customers is waiting.😞
Overall, enjoyable experience, good food as always and the service was very good.
Hopefully Vancouver will soon have a Japanese style yakiniku restaurant that actually has good quality meat to match its prices! At $140 for 2 adults and 2 young kids (barely ate anything), I expected much better quality at these prices. The hanger steak was mediocre, tenderloin was tough - (probably stewing beef!), and the kalbi short rib is boneless (wth???) There were plenty of staff (that were constantly yelling “welcome” in Japanese) but somehow very difficult to flag someone down to order food etc. I guess it’s easy to slack standards when you’re the only game in town, hopefully these guys will bring up their standards once Vancouver has a better yakiniku option!
Went at lunchtime and tried the Happy Hour set for 2 with sides of Tuna Tataki and Kara-age. Reliably good! Our server was a trainee, so we being regulars had to prompt him about some things like refilling tea and changing the grill -- haha!
mmm... I liked meats at Gyu-kaku... However, unfortunately the meat quality went downhill...
Also i couldn’t have Horumon which is my favorite meat!!!
beef tongue isn't really fresh
3rd time attending this location. However, this time, Service was rushed, even though we jad a reservation and having a 2 hour limit. the server brought the bill and visa machine same time as the dessert and asked for payment. We said not uet voma back when.we are done eating. In general the servixe was poor and i will probably not return.
Service was really good and food was delicious
This is my favorite restaurant since i lived in US. Unfortunately i had terrible service 2 days ago. The server didnt know how to serve drink properly. I had sapporo beer ,the glass beer has holder but the server hold the top of the glass with his fingers ! That is DISGUSTING ! He didnt even give a straw . He served drink and just walk away and he act didnt care to my table. He looks lazy to work. tipping in this restaurant is obligation so even I tip $1 doesnt deserve that server service quality !!! I would not come to this restaurant if that server doesnt improve his service quality .
Fun experience, but portion sizes were small for the price.
Great food as always.
Dining time at this location is two hours and we accidentally exceeded that time. The reservation needing our table had arrived and needed that specific table as that area was for large groups (we were only 2 patrons). The staff worked hard to find and clear a replacement table for us so we could finish our beer without rushing. At that time they were exceptionally kind and grateful for our moving and it was a favour for us! Simon is an excellent server and was very pleasant and engaging.
good food and a good time. my go-to place when I crave bbq meat!
Rice was undercooked and very soggy. The server kept forgetting to bring us rice, water and food. Had to ask quite a few times and he got flustered by us kept reminding him.
Food was great! We may have ordered too much haha. But half of the meat was served about 15-20 min after we finished the first half of the meat and got full from waiting, so that was unfortunate.
Happy hour is very good pricing, quick service, food is good quality. The rewards program has a decent rate of return as well. Best part is the grill venting doesn't leave any fumes on your clothes! Would definitely come back again.
Food is consistent with the downtown location. Bench seats near entrance are only divided by a screen, so you can hear your next seat neighbor discipline their kids. It’d be nice if there’s more privacy and have the table/seats separated
Service was very slow for 1 person in our party. He got his food 1h later
Great food and attentive service. The experience was fun for the whole family.
Delicious food and good services. Definitely will come again.
I prefer the downtown location but the Broadway Gyu-Kaku has great service and food as well.
Great place for friend gathering.
Parking right at the back but quite expensive. Street parking available but with time restrictions.
Went during happy hour, didn't really find any difference.
Beef tongue was spectacular :Q
Will go again.
Good to have point program but my friend lost all points in her account for no reason
6 of us went for my 33rd birthday and just had the best time! We ordered the meal for 4 people plus a few super happy hour salads and were pleased and overwhelmed with all the delicious items!! Totally recommend for all!
I’ve been to Gyu-Kaku numerous times and have always broughts visiting friends from out of town here. However, the last few times, the service and quality seems to have gone down. This last visit, as we were still eating and conversing, our server had the audacity to tell us that we have a 2 hour limit for our meal/visit. This was at approximately 7:45 pm (reservation was for 6:15 pm). Other than a buffet situation (which this was not), I find it wholly inappropriate and absolutely wrong to say such a thing to your paying customers. Especially when they are there to celebrate a birthday.
We were completely taken aback by such a comment and will never return or tell our friends to come to this establishment. It’s completely unheard of to put a limit on people’s meals - when it’s not a buffet situation. Comes off as the establishment has more pursuit for money vs a happy customer experience.
Clean that up and have servers who smile a bit more vs looking grumpy!
Food was great and staff were friendly! The food for the price was worth it. Will definitely come back.
Fun good food a bit pricy. I would go back for sure.
Nice lunch menu with lots of options. Love their garlic beef noodle and BBQ meat options!
Quick and well organized service. Wanna come back again for sure.
We were there for Super Happy Hours so it was great! Service is good too most of the time. Definitely recommend Super Happy Hours!
Our server (Steven) was very attentive as one of our friends had gluten allergy. He carefully explained to us what sauces had gluten and which ones best to avoid. He even opened up new sauces for dipping in case of cross contamination.
Food was great but definitely recommend smaller groups of 4 for BBQ as everyone was crowded around one BBQ grill
You do need reservation, very busy place good food , great service.
Happy hour is great and service is very quick! I'm veggie and still enjoy the experience, just order off the menu rather than the grill.
Service was great as always. Really like the staff here. Usually i enjoy coming in. But the beef dish today was pretty much inedible. So tough it was like chewing jerky even though it was sliced so thinly. Was not very enjoyable. Somehow it really was a turn off and i doubt i will be back again anytime soon.
great fun but hard when 3 people are all trying to cook at the same time--better for 2 people. Drinks were weak but food was awesome!
