Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh, high-quality meats!
As we do get very busy during peak hours and we do require reservations for maximum 2 hours dining time only. We are sorry for the inconveniences and we thank you for your cooperation.
For all reservations we do hold a 15 minute grace period for the reserved table, if the party is late after the 15min, the reservation will be cancelled.
Again, we thank you for booking your reservation with Gyu-Kaku and we look forward in seeing you soon!
Good, efficient service.
Ok food and good service
Came 15 minutes early for reso and was seated 5 mins later than reservation time. Food came quick and servers werr available to fill water or clean up plates often.
So good! Great staff! Only giving 4 stars because they ran out of kimchi and don’t serve the cheese wontons........
Would give 5/5 if they had an all you can eat. Awesome place
Meat is quite low quality, unfortunately. But still keeps the charm of the infamous Japanese yakiniku gyukaku.
All Day Monday Happy Hour - my friends and I definitely enjoyed th BBQ experience and the service was great.
We had a great time. The premium meat dinner for two was amazing and plentiful. Had to get a doggy bag.
Happy hour, book ahead or you'll most likely have to wait!
Friendly staff, quality food, we all enjoy our meal.
Great server we had today. He was very friendly and enthusiastic, would definitely recommend coming back
Food was pretty good. We went during Happy hour and we got great value in food. My only problem with prices was plum wine, it was sooo expensive. Takara Umeshu was 50 dollars a bottle which is easily 3 times the price in a liquor store.
Server was so slow. They didn’t do eye contact with me when I was looking for server.
Well priced food items with summer seasonal specials. Great value.
The food was great, however we were given burnt fried garlic and charge $1 for it. The fried garlic at the Richmond location is never burnt and we are never charged for it.
Some meats and the salad were too salty. Please reduce sodium level
Happy Hour All Day Monday
BBQ Meats are $7 - $8 per dish. All the raw meat portion and the quality are good.
Always a great experience but had a server (Jennifer) who was absolutely amazing and went so above to make sure our dining experience was great excellent. All the staff at this location are lovely, can’t wait to come back
Food is amazing, great value and great service. Would highly recommend.
Really great place to eat! Service is on point, music and atmosphere was great!
Tasty, but little bit pricey. Good to go during happy hour.
Servers check the tables a few times, very good service, but they are too busy to be called.
Reliably good! Celebratory gathering for our young athlete's recent success. A protein feed and grilling fun for him, too!
Fast accommodation and cheerful staff! Parking is convenient. The restaurant was also clean and food is great as always!
Very good food.
It would be helpful if they allowed reservations for parties larger than 6. We had to make 2 separate reservations then request that the tables were close together. That caused a delay and staff had to scramble. We appreciated their effort but it would not have been an issue if they allowed reservations for larger parties.
It was much better than the last time I visited. I wish I was served with wet towel (oshibori) or more napkins.
Great restaurant to have a casual meal!
It was my birthday . We didn’t see a server for roughly 20minutes after we got sat. I am a manager of a restaurant and am not over exaggerating the time. The food is delicious and the price is great though. Just very poor unpersonalized service.
Super happy hour is the best - make sure to make a reso!!
I visit Gyu-Kaku regularly! Always great service and food, one of the best gems in the city. Whenever I have a friend from out of town I always suggest they check out this place
I went to the restaurant to make a reservation for 19 people 2 days before; however, the front desk waitress informed that they don't take reservation for a large group and asked us to go to downtown or Richmond location. We went to this place as we just work right beside the restaurant. We finally made couples reservations. When we went there, they finally could put us together but not informing us there is gratitude fee involved upfront. While we were having the lunch, we knew the restaurant was busy but we asked couples waitresses to help our group to just only take one picture, it took at least 20 mins and all waitresses saying they were busy and be right back to help us. If you will have a large group to go, please don't go to this location.
Nice place to hang out with friends
Always pretty nice to go during lunch hour. Less people, less noise, same great service and awesome food. Better than the DT location in terms of environment. Recently, the great promos are hard to resist.
We all loved everything, meats, veggies even the bill.
Food and service was excellent. We dined to celebrate our daughter ‘s birthday. The service was excellent as was the food. You’d be surprised how quickly you fill up. Recommend anyone who wants to have a food adventure!
Overall is pretty good except at the end we been rush to leave because customers is waiting.😞
Overall, enjoyable experience, good food as always and the service was very good.
Hopefully Vancouver will soon have a Japanese style yakiniku restaurant that actually has good quality meat to match its prices! At $140 for 2 adults and 2 young kids (barely ate anything), I expected much better quality at these prices. The hanger steak was mediocre, tenderloin was tough - (probably stewing beef!), and the kalbi short rib is boneless (wth???) There were plenty of staff (that were constantly yelling “welcome” in Japanese) but somehow very difficult to flag someone down to order food etc. I guess it’s easy to slack standards when you’re the only game in town, hopefully these guys will bring up their standards once Vancouver has a better yakiniku option!
Went at lunchtime and tried the Happy Hour set for 2 with sides of Tuna Tataki and Kara-age. Reliably good! Our server was a trainee, so we being regulars had to prompt him about some things like refilling tea and changing the grill -- haha!
