Service started out slow, especially the bar orders, but once we ordered food it came out in a timely manner. It was a fun place! Our kids loved it! And the desserts were so fun! Will definitely go back!

Our grill was not hot for most of the meal. Our service was slow. The Men's restroom was not very clean. We have been to this restaurant many times before. This was the first disappointing experience.

We went here for a girls night, and had a great time. The service was extremely fast tonight, usually it can be a little slow. We had a great time.

Food was great, service lacked. Hope well enough I go back, that changes. Love the restaurant, the food, the atmosphere, I just wish that the service was better. They really lacked and getting any type of alcoholic beverage out, seemed like they were short-staffed, but it wasn't very busy.

The Inter-active dining experience by cooking your own meat was so much fun. Great to have a leisurely dinner and talk with people. Drinks were also delicious.

The menu has nice variety of food to choose from. The food was excellent. Each meat that we ordered has its own distinct flavor. Has a nice selection of desserts. The service was quick and professional. It was a very nice first dining experience at Gyu Kanu.

We made reservation and arrived on time. But still waited for 20 minutes. One group with same size that just walked in later than us but get their table earlier. What is the meaning for reservation?!

It really didn't help having reservations through open table because despite us being on time, we weren't seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time because "the table for us had people that were sitting there for 3 1/2 hours" according to them. I'm not sure why that's our problem? We were also repeatedly ignored by the hostess when we tried to ask when we'd be seated. When we were finally seated and had been there for about 45 minutes, we all started feeling the pressure from the staff that we should quickly pay and leave. They were trying to turn around the tables and we felt very rushed and not relaxed there. Will not be going back!

For some reason this gyu kaku makes it mandatory to make a reservation beforehand or else you will wait forever. So the second time we made a reservation and arrived and the restaurant was not even half full and they told us we had to wait again for 15 minutes. Seems very disorganized and staff at the front is not very friendly. This is my least favorite location. Pasadena's is much nicer than here.

I was super disappointed with the service and how rude and quick they are to get you in and out. I felt rushed the whole time from the moment I walked in. We were still grilling our meat and the waiter came over asking if we wanted our dessert but we hadn't even finished our meal yet. Then the way the waiter removes things off the table is very rude he kept reaching in front of me as I'm trying to eat without saying "excuse me" or "are you done with that plate" he just assumed and snatched it away. My overall experience was not the best and I will not be returning.

Service was mediocre. Our grill was hearing in one area, the waitress replaced the coals with one falling in our food. So, we couldn't eat all of our food together resulting in loss of appetite. What we did eat was good.

Variety food choices, delicious BBQ food, and service! We were in a date night and it was a fun ambience. It was crowded too. Even though we had reservations, we still had to wait another half an hour after our reservation time to get our table since the restaurant was very busy. Overall, it was a good experience.

Ate at the one in Pasadena years ago and I thought it was delicious. Thought we try this location since it's closer to us now that we live in the OC. Staff was friendly but the food was just not that great. We like the novelty of cooking out on food but the food was just ok. The appetizers weren't fresh and seemed like it sat under a heat lamp for a while. Wouldn't go back or recommend this location.

James did a wonderful job of making sure our food and drink needs were met. He was gracious, friendly, highly-motivated and just all-around excellent at his job. He helped make our dining experience a fantastic one. Looking forward to returning to Gyu Kaku Brea.

High quality meats combined with the cook it yourself BBQ makes for good eats and entertainment amongst friends. Excellent conversation starter. Happy hour with a few premium items on the side insured that the entire table was well stuffed by the end of the meal, but somehow you will manage to enjoy the smores anyway.

Heard that the all-you-can-eat menu was extended until 2/28/17 so I made reservations to come here on Friday 1/6/17. But it turns out that the Brea location is THE ONLY location that does not have the all-you-can-eat menu everyday and that it's only Monday-Thursday. Because of this, we decided to not dine here because we've been wanting to try the all-you-can eat menu ever since we heard about it. Seems like this location always puts their own limits and stipulations for Gyu-Kaku promotions compared to all other Gyu-Kaku locations. I will make sure to never come to this location again and visit any of the other locations instead.

Horrible experience they tried to cancel our reservation 10 minutes before when we were parking and we told them they were there and they said they would keep our reservation but when we were there 5 minutes before they gave away our table 50 minutes later they sat us down.

Made a reservation in advance and came expecting to eat the AYCE promotion, but was told it wasn't available on holidays. Was told this restriction was mentioned in an email newsletter (???).

It would have been nice to list this restriction on the actual promo instead of on some obscure email newsletter (???).

I guess it was my fault to assume a promo running from Nov 1-Jan 5 would have date restrictions.

Only reason I came was for the AYCE, so I guess there's really nothing else to say here. Service was good at least.

Despite making a reservation and confirming multiple times, it took us over half an hour to be seated and only because we asked the hosts repeatedly while our whole party crowded into the entryway to wait. Once seated service was very spotty. Will not return to this location (other Gyu Kaku locations have been better).

First, I called to tell them we were 5 mins late. Said they didn't have my reservation at all. Then when I complained I had made it on Open Table they magically found it. It's also really irritating to make a reservation for a table for your birthday and have to have EVERYONE in your party there before you're seated. I could understand 50% of the party, but 100%? My brother's babysitter was late and so the whole dinner was delayed by 45 minutes. Meanwhile the staff was not friendly whatsoever. Then we ordered drinks at the bar while we waited and didn't get them until we had already ordered our food at the table 10 mins later. You would think they would keep the drinks flowing but they were slow to come back and get more orders. It's been a problem everytime we've been there. They need a better bar staff. More drinks = more money = buying more food. Lastly, I asked if they made mudslides since I saw all the ingredients on the bar shelf. The server didn't know what that was so she had the bartender come over, then he said ya it's a shot...at this point I was like, whatever. Then 5 mins later the server comes over and says that it's only a drink and it's $7. In my head I was like, duh I know that. When they brought it out it was in a small tumbler and half full. No bueno. However, their food is always so good that we'll be back. Just gotta step up their service in some areas

Our server Taylor has really excellent service all night, I would like to send Our thanks to her, but Dave who is receptionist has really bad attitude. We had 7 pm reservation and arrived on time. Atfer we checked in, he told us the table will be ready soon, so I went to restroom first. After I came back, I saw my friend still waited there, and the table was given to the other two people who after us. So, I asked Dave why three times, unfortunately he didn't give us any reason. We could see Dave just pretended nothing happened. Anyway, this was my first time to go their brea store, and I won't go anymore if Dave is still there.

Went here for the AYCE promotion. Great food, but definitely not AYCE. We were told we had 90 minutes and last call would come at 75 minutes. Last call came at 60 minutes... When we pointed this out to our server, she said "but it takes the kitchen time to make the order"... OK, we don't mind waiting, but make last call at 75 minutes... NOPE. Portions were VERY small. We were limited in portions then after about 20 minutes we were further limited. I literally told our server I would like to order the same amount as we did previously and she flat out said the kitchen doesn't like that. OK... Whatever. Definitely not coming back for AYCE, especially since it cost $40. If you want ACYE Korean BBQ, just go to Mr. BBQ or Gen where they don't limit you and don't rush you out the door.

My husband and I always enjoy eating at the Brea Gyu Kaku. The ramen is absolutely delicious. The meats are fantastic, too. The Gyu Kaku salad is refreshing, and I love the iced green tea. What makes the experience a great one = the service. During this visit, we were taken care of by Taylor; she did a fabulous job! Thank you, Taylor! We're looking forward to seeing you (and Dave) the next time we visit:)
