Very poor service at this location. Seems to be a trend on the last few visits. The Pico location staff is much more attentive and friendly.
Food was okay, meats were great, the spicy tuna on crispy rice can be taken out of the menu. I went with just one friend and we were charged double. Had to go back and get refunded which they took some time to do and good thing we kept the receipt. Server was nice but could have. But the experience was not that great overall.
This place used to be great. However upon our visit yesterday, we quickly realized everything was amiss.
We walked in and there was a line to check in. A cluster of people waiting and no one at the front. The host eventually moseyed over with no sense of urgency (and with his mask barely over his mouth, leaving his entire nose outside the mask?!), and finally sat the first party waiting. Then we waited 12 minutes (we timed it) before he even acknowledged us or came back to the host stand! It was insane and e ethane behind us waiting couldn’t believe it either. Someone behind us actually walked over to him and tried to get him to come back to the host stand and help us all.
We got seated and the menus were sticky, the table was tricky, and all 3 sauce bottles were sticky. That’s gross, Covid or no Covid. They were out of several things we ordered, including basics like green onions and shishito peppers.
Our server was nice and the food was fine but not greats it’s sad to see how it’s gone downhill. If the host had taken some pride in his job or cared at all, it would’ve helped. But being out of a ton of menu items and basic ingredients wasn’t good and overall it was a real disappointment.
This is the worst Gyu-Kaku I have ever been to!! I saw staff members barely wearing their masks (showing their entire nose and upper lip) which is extemely uncomfortable to see given that masks are required for dining in. They were also not very friendly. Food came out SO SLOWLY and our server was terrible with actually clearing our plates/bowls when they were empty. Sukiyaki bowl had barely ANY meat and when food was brought by. The music was too loud for the nature of the dining experience, where it’s already loud to be seated so close to many other tables AND have to grill your own food, and this made it difficult to hear our servers when they would ask us questions or explain which meats they were bringing by. Seating was uncomfortable, due to the set-up of the tables and seats (cannot stretch out legs). Our server was clearly eager to send us out, would never dine here again.
Fun to cook together!
The hostess would not seat us even though 4 of 6 were there.. then she complained we were blocking the aisle.. finally seated us.
Our bill was incorrect by $100 and it took several attempts at correcting it. We had been billed for items already included in set menu options. It was very annoying.
Horrible host with the red hair overall the service was amazing
Worse than I remember it before COVID.
Food quality was poor, there was a long wait although we had a reservation, and the place was too noisy.
Took my boyfriend for his birthday. The food was quick to cook, fresh, and there was plenty to get full and take extra home. The ambiance was nice with the lighting dimmed mid meal making each table feel private. The music was a bit loud but okay. Overall we had a great time. Our server was also great. I highly recommend.
We learned there is new management. They are either getting used to the menu or changing up some of the recipes, some of the food tasted different. There was more lighting throughout the space which was nice.
We are never disappointed in Gyu- Kaku. Great food for a great price. The only negative is that they frequently are out of green tea ice cream.
Very fun place to celebrate our three year anniversary. Shout out to Gisela!
Great service. Delicious food😊
I love Gyu-Kaku and the food is always amazing. However, my experience in this location was horrible. Yesterday (10/01/2021), we had reservation at 12:30pm, got a table right away since it was not busy yet. We ordered lunch specials (miso soup, salad, rice and 3 kind of meats). We got our soup at 1:10pm, after a while our salad and 6 kind of meats finally arrived. I had to turn on the stove myself since our server (David) was MIA. We didn’t get some rice so we had to ask the food runner to get it (she was very nice). Our drinks were empty and we had to ask the host to call our server. Unfortunately, there was a bug inside my drink and it was hard to find our server so we had to ask the host to get another one. Our server was finally back from MIA after we almost finished our food. We wanted to get dessert but since he was nowhere to be found we decided to ask for our check. Host and food runner gave us outstanding service but our server was terrible. We came out from the restaurant unhappy.
the host wanted me to wait outside and we did 2 min later a group of people with no reservation came in and got seated right away. went in 7 min later and the host never acknowledged our reservation the first time since he asked again if I had a reservation to which I answered yes then asked if we wanted to be seated. I mean why would you ask that? Next our server only came to us if we waved our hand never checked on us and our meat took for ever to get to our table never changed the grill overall our service was horrible and our portions of food was mediocre never coming back
Great food serivce. The server was attentive, engaging and pleasant. Of course as always the food was great.
Worst service I’ve ever experienced. Do not dine here!!!
Lot's of fun to be had! Seems to be more open since last time I visited, with less decor.
The place could do with a deep clean and sprucing up. It feels runs down. The service and food is good, but in that area for that price it needs to step up the cleanliness and ambiance.
All marinated dishes are very sweet. But I like it.
Food is yummy with a lot of variety. Friendly staff and great service. Awesome points system and frequent promos.
The server that assisted us, I believe his name was Tanapat, was absolutely astounding. I couldn't have asked for a better worker to assist us throughout the time of our dining. We asked for recommendations and we absolutely loved them. The food was very good and impressed us.
Tried the create your own combo. I tried different sides. Not too bad. Would try again.
My server Saruul was okay (she didn't offer me any water) - but the individual assisting was great, super helpful and engaged thank you Xavier you're the BEST!
Fun for all
Our server was really on top of our table , every time we need something she was there and even tho I would ask for stuff she knew I already needed sometimes. She’s the best ! The worse thing is that I don’t remember her name she was an Asian skinny short nice young girl ! Love her
Went in for my dinner birthday, really great quality meat and food. Really love it! I came with my parents and they are really picky with food because they’re great cooks but they loved this place! Service was great! I had a group singing happy bday for me it was hella fun’ and the value of food we ordered is amazing! Def gonna come back! Tasty food 👍🏼👌🏼
I love gyu Kaku the avocado salad is my favorite thing. The prices are more than reasonable. It’s all you can eat Japanese bbq (you choose your price point for the meats you get unlimited)
Our server Sam was fantastic! Did a great job taking care of us and handling all our requests. He check in on us frequently and was very friendly.
Always have a great time when I come to Beverly. The service was good, our waitress Hi-Meah was very sweet and took care of us. We got the $55 happy hour menu and all dishes were satisfying. Great thing about this restaurant, it has rewards, and I used mine to get a vanilla ice cream.
Amazing time as always.
Our sake never arrived and service was slow.
Food was decent and fair price.
Service was flawless!!! THANK YOU
It was my son’s birthday
Our waiter Josh was so disappointing, he forgot to place half our order! Then said the kitchen is slow! Our drinks took forever, when we ordered another drink he told us “They’re out of white Sangria!
Our waiter had more excuses for his lame service than I’ve ever heard!
We canceled our forgotten food orders, that he forgot place an hour earlier & left the restaurant.
VERY DISAPPOINTING for my out of town guests.
All in all it was good. When we first arrived it took about 3 minutes before someone greeted us. This was around 4:45pm. When we were done with our main meal, it took a few minutes to flag someone down to order dessert. We were undercharged. They forgot to charge us for a plum wine and 36oz beer.
