Gyu-Kaku - Bellevue, WA
Gyu-Kaku, meaning "Horn of the Bull" in Japanese provides the authentic Japanese Yakiniku (barbeque) dining experience where customers share premium cooked meats over a flaming charcoal grill while sipping on Japanese Sake, Shochu and frosty cold beers. Gyu-Kaku offers a wide range of meats including the bestseller Harami Skirt Steak in Miso marinade, Certified Angus Kalbi Short Rib in Tare Soy marinade. Other popular items include pork, lamb, duck & chicken, Shrimp Garlic & a variety of vegetables.
I personally only write reviews for amazing restaurant and this place is one of them. The food is literally amazing, the juicy, perfectly cut, Japanese style meats. Cooked on a grill with the 3 sauce options of Sweet Soy Sauce, Spicy & Ponzu. Not only is the food great and savory. The staff and workers are fantastic as-well! I was personally welcomed by the manager and as seated, was treated as if I was one of the most important customers. I was even told to personally call her if I needed anything. As a former server I liked to notice other servers/waiters to see if they’re working hard. And of course that’s exactly what I saw. All the workers rushing to make sure the customers get their food, asking if their food is okay, and also making sure they were okay with everything. 5 * recommendation. Plus the Matcha Ice cream dessert hits good.
Food and service was good, but the place feels sticky. Please wipe down the condiments on the table. Super sticky and gross. I could have stuck it to the wall. Ew. I want to eat in a place that feels clean..
Ordered the Gyu-Kaku (2-person BBQ) - came with a few different kinds of beef that we bbq'd...all were excellent. Also came with sukiyaki rice - also excellent. The only thing that was so-so was the chicken (too dry). Will definitely return!
We had a reservation at 7:45pm and were asked to wait 10 minutes before being seated which wasn’t so bad. It didn’t feel that long of a wait and they were sooo busy. Before we knew it the hostess was leading us to our table and our server was already greeting us. The food came out in a timely manner. The only thing was my server forgot my drink but after asking about it he got it right away so no biggie. Love this place and will definitely be back soon.
Staff very pleasant, helpful! Great food
We have been here a couple of times and most of the time, we enjoyed our visit. The food is delicious and can be a great deal (when visiting on happy hour time frame). Most of the food and service have been top-notch but yesterday, their service fell short. We had so many waiters/waitresses at our table but when we went to pay, we couldn’t find anyone to help us with our bill.
It was Our first time ,we never eat at japans BBQ before and thought it will be like Koreans BBQ .
We did reservations and came on time the service was ok ,he didn’t ask us if we know how it work and what is the right portions for two people.
The size of the meat dish was small, very small .
We order 3 meat dish 2 veg,2 rice 1 salad ,1 cheese wonton Dish .
And I’m sorry but it was a joke ,my son and I where still hungry after all of that and it cost me $60.
Not Worth it.
If you want to eat good You need to take the combo dinner for 2 or More,Maybe more .
Everything was great - service and taste, except for the reduced amount of meat per order compared to the past. Only 4 or 5 slices per plate, with only 2 big slices and the rest tiny!
Quick service and nice food but meat was little bit sweet.
A wonderful experience, can't wait to do it again. The food was flavorful and fun to cook and eat.
Some of the best service I’ve had! Will definitely be coming back, food was amazing and staff was super friendly:)
The food and service were wonderful. We ordered the meal for 4 - Samurai - which was very tasty. We particularly enjoyed the variety of meats and veggies that were included. The rice had some yummy crispy sweet onions and spices on the bottom - a great surprise! The salad was complex and tasty. The meats... well, there was something for everyone and plenty for all. SMORES for dessert!!!! One of my families favorites so we were pleasantly surprised by this one. I highly recommend!
The booths doe... Please consider changing them out.
very good place to hang out with friends
I had made a reservation but apparently there was a particular table that they were waiting to clear before seating us. The people had paid, but apparently weren’t leaving, and instead of offering us another table, they continued to seat others. They finally sat us at a larger than planned table 25 minutes after our reservation time when we complained. Other than their planning issues, the meal was very good.
Love this restaurant and we had a wonderufl meal. Came early so we could purchase happy hour but took the Graduation special and it was great. As always great food and service. Thanks
This place never disappoints! Excellent food and service!
Food was great.
Service was great. Friendly and attentive staff.
A little cramped; needs larger tables.
Atmosphere left something to be desired. For a pricey and unique experience-someplace I'd only go for special occasions- I expected something a bit more atmospheric. Felt very much like your average mid-range ramen shop. Hardly ruined the overall experience.
Deliciously self grilled food and quick service. =) It's a very rushed experience. We were looking for something quick before a movie and we even felt rushed.
Wonderful experience. Only drawback is it’s a noisy when it’s full.
It was amazing! Great food and a great value with the brunch special. Our new favorite local restaurant!
Great food and service as always! Nothing was disappointing.
Wonderful service, yummy food. Took a friend for her first time and it will be come a weekly gathering.
It was quite good.
Didn't care for the bench seating.
We wanted something different and tasty for our birthday weekend. Thank you for making it such an a great evening. Everything was exceptional. Definitely will return soon. Thank you!
This was the first time me and my husband had ever been here. We made a reservation and even though we were a few minutes late the same was so friendly and seated us right away. The server we had was great and if we had been there before and the was NO so he explains everything we needed to know. The food was awesome adding that sweet soy sauce was like OMG, so good. The value of the food was great and yes we will go back again.
Front desk people are not very professional, smoking outside and busy chat chat.
Always yummy! Best to have reservations
Guy Kaku has been my go-to bbq place for a long time now. The meats are great, price is reasonable, and they have a Mother’s Day special so that’s even better.
Their service can vary from time to time because there’s a lot of changes in the staff, but today it was awesome.
I would recommend everyone to try it out if you are interested in Japanese Barbecue.
The food was very good today! I hope it is consistent all the time though.
Nice experience! Brunch menu was good! Service could be more attentive.
We were a table for two that was able to be seated within 10min of our reservation. Cuts of meat were very good with great marinade. Customer service was friendly and great. Would definitely go back.
Great food. Happy hour is a great value. Our waiter was fantastic.
We had the brunch grill set, $19.95, that includes two protein options (totalling 10oz), rice, salad, miso soup, and a choice of dessert or soda. Everything was super fresh and tasty! I had the bistro hangar steak & garlic shrimp - SO yummy. The meat was super tender and shrimp was very fresh. There's also three different dipping sauces - sweet soy sauce, spicy, & ponzu - all were great. I'm excited to go back and try the other meat options! It truly is a meat lover's dream. I would recommend making a reservation as there was a wait shortly after 12pm. I can imagine crowds only growing as time goes on because they are fairly new to the area.
Inside the restaurant is clean. It provides quality BBQ menu items and non BBQ menu items are also good at a reasonable price.
Make reservations before coming in. I saw lots of people that came in on a busy weekend night and didn’t want to wait. Food was delicious! My kids enjoyed cooking and loved the environment. Our waiter was super nice and friendly. They have happy hour!!! Which was super awesome. We will definitely be back here again
Felt rushed and not very enjoyable for a special night out. I have been to this restarant in Honolulu and vancouver. I would not go again in Washington. Dinner for 2 was about $110 with sake. Would rather spent it somewhere else.
Food was good, but rushed, came out too quick even after we asked to slow down service. We stayed in Redmond for the night and came here via uber. Were seated on time, just not that awesome of an experience
My server Ivan was very friendly and outgoing! He's great!
Great food and service. We love this place and we look forward to our next visit.
