Gyu-Kaku - Bellevue
Gyu-Kaku, meaning "Horn of the Bull" in Japanese provides the authentic Japanese Yakiniku (barbeque) dining experience where customers share premium cooked meats over a flaming charcoal grill while sipping on Japanese Sake, Shochu and frosty cold beers. Gyu-Kaku offers a wide range of meats including the bestseller Harami Skirt Steak in Miso marinade, Certified Angus Kalbi Short Rib in Tare Soy marinade. Other popular items include pork, lamb, duck & chicken, Shrimp Garlic & a variety of vegetables.
Food was great!
The meat quality degraded a lot recently. We ordered Kobe styled Kalbi that used to be good on every order though expensive. Now it can be chewy if it happens to be from a so called “bad luck” occasional bag of meet. The secret pot is also very chewy. We are willing to pay big buck for good quality not chewy. We feedback to the manager He said the will check kitchen. But nothing happened no follow ups.
I had a good experience with my group here. I made a reservation online and also called into the restaurant to request an increase in the amount of people. I do recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is fairly small. Our table was in the very back and comfortable fit 10 people, but with a little more squeezing in, you can fit 12.
The server was friendly and made sure that we were enjoying our food. He also made suggestions on the amount of food we ordered. All the servers seemed to be attentive to the tables as they would come around to remove any empty plates/bowls, and refill water fairly quickly.
The only deficits I would say is the order that the food came out. So we ordered a bunch of sides with our meat selection. The sides came to the table well before the meat selection started arriving to us. We waited for some meat plates to arrive in order to eat it with our sides. Wish they intermixed the meat selection with the side selection, like two sides and two meat plates, and then another two sides/two meats.
But overall, good quality meats, tasty sides! Loved the garlic noodles and garlic fried rice.
Expected it to be like the other California chains with all
You can eat option only to find out they didn’t offer it when I got to the restaurant.
The first time we came here was flawless but the second time we got seated in a boot w a broken window it was very cold took 10 mins to get greatted and our food was rushed i dint feel the same good service as the first time i hope the next time we get a better experience
Gyu Kaku has always been a favorite restaurant of mine in California, and now that they are in Bellevue I get to enjoy it in Washington as well. The meats are always prepared so great and tender (Bistro Hangar Steak / Harami Skirt / Spicy Pork) and sides could not be better (GARLIC NOODLES!). I am amazed at the consistent delivery of this restaurant no matter where in the world you visit. The ambiance is very welcoming, everyone having fun grilling their meat or eating their prepared food. Service is wonderful and I've never left disappointed at all. Wonderful Chain, and this location is a great example for anyone interested in Japanese BBQ.
Good food and service. Little bit noisy though but overall is a good experience
First time visit this restaurant Ordered the Gyu Kaku set, server seem to be in rush all the time had to asked several time ice tea refills
After asking for the check Son notice we were missing the mushrooms dish, informed the server all he said was “ u didn’t get it ? Sorry “ and walked away
We paid for something we didn’t get all we got was that comment.
We’ve been to this restaurant a few times already. Great food and friendly service.
Make sure you set a reservation because it seems like the wait is long if you don't. I highly recommend doing the pre-set BBQ meals if it's your first time. I personally enjoyed the meatlovers set. The taiyaki is a great dessert.
Good quality meat and seafood. Quick and efficiant service. Tasty flavors. A bit overlit, but not a big deal. Decent value. Come after 8:3o pm for happy hour pricing, which we happen to do luckily. I would come here again. My girlfriend really enjoyed it!
First time here, we will be back !!!
Food is really good but a little bit pricy too.
Better make the appointment before you go-
It was really good food and the service was great. Highly likely to go back.
i love gyu kaku! we live far and it was totally worth the hour drive up north. the meat quality is amazing, so tender and juicy! sooo much better than kbbq. lol. the appetizer salad was amazing. we went on a double date and got the samurai? (whatever was recommended for 4 people) we also added pork belly, the appetizer poke nachos and beef tongue. no complaints about anything. it was all. so. tasty. can’t wait to go there again! :)
Food is great. Service is wonderful. Definitely will come again.
The food was delicious and our waitress was nice, even though she didn't check on us regularly. The biggest bummer was I made the reservation through OpenTable, as the restaurant said to do when we called there with a question, and noted we were coming there to celebrate our kiddo's 14th birthday, but even with a reservation we were seated 20 minutes or so after our reservation time (which we checked in 10 minutes before it) and they never mentioned anything about her birthday. Plus it took way too long to get cashed out; ended up doing it with another server. We may go back some day, but not anytime soon as we drove 2 hours to eat there from Olympia.
One of the 2 Authentic Japanese BBQ restaurants in Bellevue. The price is a little high and the meat could be softer, but I got to give overall 5 stars for cost performance and for their awesome sauce. Keep up the restaurant and stay open, and more openings needed in North end.
Nu lunch menu on Valentine's day? Not everyone celebrates the holiday!
Great service only issue was the restaurant was extremely cold. It was snowing outside but there was no heat in the restaurant at all.
It was cute
Excellent service and great quality for food. It is a little pricey if you don't have points accumulated but you are paying for what you get. I still go to Gyu Kaku at different States till this day!
Love the grills and meat quality. The ventilation system is good, so our clothes afterwards were not as smelly as patronizing other bbq place. Spicy tofu soup is not as good as other Korean places.
It is s great place to check the variety of meat in variety of different marinades. Excellent quality of meat & taste!!!
Great place for good food, leisurely meal since you cook some ingredients at you table.
Love the Gyu Kaku concept of cooking your own meat on the intable grill. you order the meat you wish and get a nice salad, Soup, and appetizer to start your meal. Then you cook your selected meat cishes.
My second time in 10 days. Loved it. Food was good but service seemed stressed, pressed for time.
great lunch/brunch deal compare to dinner! Make reservations for weekend brunch as it can be a wait. the food is fresh and of good quality. the portions are great for the price. Service is decent. Not a place for a quick lunch. Good place to come in groups or single
Great food, amazing experience! I recommend you and your family/friends give it a try!
There was an employee who was super chatty. He did not understand my boyfriend and I were having a private time. We both were sorry annoyed at some point.
What an awesome experience! It is an expensive meal compared to an all you can eat bbq, but the food was cooked really good and you can taste the quality of the food. It is family and kid friendly. My son really enjoyed the s’more! We will surely come back.
meat quality is okay. rice is super wet/mushy, though. hard to eat.
My husband and I love this place after visiting for two times. We recommend people make reservation ahead of time so they don't have to wait. This restaurant has good service and food, especially the marinated beef and beef sukiyaki bibimbap
Great food and great service! Fun experience that never gets old. Prices are set right for the amount of food. Only complaint would be appetizers and main food was not paced. Other than that, a great experience and will be back.
Great dining experience- made reservations ahead of time and was seated quickly after all in party arrived. Got the lunch menu with the 3 meat option. Overall value for lunch is pretty good for quality. Service was attentive as well. Overall another good meal here!
Although good, the food here is too expensive relative to other franchise locations, and the restaurant is constantly far too loud even when relatively empty.
Came here for our eight year old's birthday. She chose the restaurant and made the reservation herself because she loves this place. Staff came out and did the birthday song for her.
We usually get the meat lovers set and the different marinades and textures make it a very enjoyable and delicious experience.
We are happy with the meal, food was great, service good but slow. Servers were polite and working hard but food came very slow after we ordered. This happens every time we go there.
