Being fully vaccinated, we wanted to go somewhere that we have been craving but unable to go during the pandemic. We went here to celebrate my partner's birthday. Having a newborn and other obligations, we had to make a late reservation. Immediately after being seated, we were pressured to order immediately and not have enough time to thoroughly go through the menu. Additionally half the party had never been to this restaurant and I have a food allergy so this experience was very anxiety inducing. Furthermore, we were informed the kitchen was closed but the bar and desserts are available. When we were ready to order a couple of drinks (approx 2 min difference), we were told the bar was closed but they could pull strings to get us drinks (not mixed drinks either). Do not go to this location within an hour of closing if you do not want to experience anxiety or to feel like you need to make immediate decisions.
I have never had this experience at the other Gyu-Kaku's I've experienced across the country.
So GOOD! This is a really fun place to eat and the food is amazing! We had 3 people in our party. We ordered the meat lovers dinner for 2 plus some extra sides and meat. The spicy cucumbers and the garlic fried rice were our favorites. The zucchini and Kobe short ribs were also good. The meat is extremely tender and everything cooks quickly. I like that you can cook it however you like it - rare or well done. I wasn’t crazy about the jalapeño shrimp - it was just too spicy for us, but everything else was delicious. The only disappointment was that they ran out of shishito peppers by the time we ordered. The quantity of each meat is very small but we were all full by the time we were done eating. The s’mores for dessert are a nice touch! Will definitely go back!
It was great experience customer service was amazing
Excellent and well priced Japanese BBQ. Great flavors and variety of appetizers, vegetables and meats
All the meats were fantastic. The corn is also amazing. All the other food items we ordered were good also. Don’t have anything bad to say about the experience except having to wait to order more items because the server didn’t come around too often. Other than that, the bus boys kept your water full and the prebussing was pretty good
There was a point of annoyance that we couldn’t be seated until the entire party was present but considering that it’s times dining, I understood. The waiter gave a solid recommendation on what we should order as a party of 4 and the service was on point! Great food and great dining experience.
Food is bomb, i come here with my roommate once a month
Great! Awesome! Food was tasty
great food, friendly service, staff wears facemasks. What more could you ask for?
Bad service. After waiting for the server for 15-20 minutes during a ayce meal, I just flagged down another server who said the original server is too busy.
High quality food, awesome atmosphere. Felt rushed by the staff because our reservation was at 9:30. Will go earlier next time. Delicious!!
Great food & waiter
It was great. We felt really rushed. They kept being out food and reminding us we had 90min. They were looking at their watches. We left 30 min. early and 90 min is enough time to eat, but the service made everything fill rushed.
The set course meal was great. For the first timer, it was a perfect selection of items.
I’d rather visit during the week when the unlimited special is available but sooooooooo good either way.
Great place to dine. You cook your own meat! Awesome experience--going back soon!
Our overall experience was very good. The food and meat selection are of very good quality. The only gripe I have is they insist on a time limit but the service is slow and doesn't allow you to follow this time limit. We spent a lot of time waiting to be served or helped.
The AYCE option is not available between Thursday and Saturday, so that should be noted. We ordered a la carte and were not disappointed. Will definitely be back.
I visited this restaurant for my niece 18th Birthday dinner. This was my first time having Koran BBQ it was really good. I definitely will come again.
Food was great! The server really tried her best but the bar was way behind on every order. I do belive it would have been way better if drinks were served as ordered. Besides that everything was great.
Dough was our server he was very helpful in explaining everything to us. The food and steak marinade was on point and the Yuzu sake was delightful. Def coming back
Food was delicious, really fun dining experience and followed covid protocols
Great choice and wonderful food. Wish is was all-you-can-eat like Okinawa for the price.
Staff was very polite and helpful. There was a lot of great food! Unfortunately, there was a time limit of 1:30hr. But we would visit again.
I am upset I loved the experience I had on Thursday. I sat down was given the happy hour cocktail menu on Thursday paid half for my drinks at the table. I go back today Wednesday for Happy and food with a date and was embarrassed by the manager and waitress. I ordered drinks two rounds, and was told they are not part of happy hour. I explained to the manager I had the same deal 5 days prior Thursday. Luckily I came home and found the receipt in my jean pocket from Thursday. I wish this place was consistent with their bar pricing. How dear the manager make up up some story about you can only order drinks from the bar before you sit down at the table. If that was the case my drinks on Thursday should have been $12. I ordered 4 drinks paid $26. In VA you can't sit at the bar during covid19, and they only have 2 tables around the bar that were taken most of the night. Can't sit in the patio because it was raining, sleet, and snowing poor customer service! I was trying to propose to my girlfriend and you ruined the experience over a happy hour drink special. I did see your sign posted in the bathroom, but again that was not the experience you offered me the prior Thursday.
So much fun. Definitely worth the value. Service is great too! They do a good job with taking covid precautions
My favorite spot overall
The service was A1. First time going and the staff explained all details. We had an amazing time.
Enjoyed the happy hour! The quality of meat is so good. Gonna come again.
It’s was a bit pricey and the meats could have been of better quality. Looked as if they had served us thawed, refrozen and then thawed again meats. At 15$ per ounce of the so-called better cuts of meats, the quality could’ve and should’ve been much better.
I’ve visited Gyu Kaku 3 times over the last month and a have and it was a really good dining experience each time. The beef sukiyaki bibimbap is my favorite. The hostess takes your temp upon entry and everything is clean and socially distance.
The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. Absolutely incredible. My husband and I cannot wait to go back and try more! You HAVE to eat here.
Awesome restaurant and will definitely visit again.
The food and service were great. Not a single complaint. We had a lot of fun!
for those who have never been, once you try it, you will start planning your next trip there. i take all my out of towner friends here and when they come back this is the place they crave.
The staff was very attentive and Took great care to ensure a sanitary environment for the diners. The food quality was excellent and the portions were generous.
Went here for the first time over the weekend. It was a fun dining experience with some really tasty food. We did one of the menu combinations (meat lovers) and added the cucumbers and the garlic mushrooms. Cucumber appetizer was great, mushrooms were ok - just not quite what we were thinking. The various meats were really good and the two of us weren't able to finish it all. We also added the sorbet (basically sorbet ice cubes) at the end and they were a great, refreshing end to the meal along with the s'mores that were included.
Always enjoy Gyu Kaku!
waitress kept reaching over the food
Overall was great!
The place was really great and the food was delicious and so was the house sake. Can't wait to go back.
