It was our first time there. We were excited for our Japanese bbq experience. The meats were tender and flavorful. But it was clouded by their horrible customer service. We were a party of 7 we asked for a variety of their all you can eat menu however they only brought few different meats. Towards the middle of our meal they finally brought two veggies and rice and that was because we kept reminding them them that we needed rice with our food. They never even brought us soup.
Also the drinks are washed down with sugar. That was nasty.
Towards the end of our meal they brought us more meat but we were all ready full . Well turns out that what ever you don’t finish THEY WILL CHARGE YOU A LA CART for each dish. We roughly spent about 500 and they still felt the need to make our first experience a horrible one by adding an additional price for each plate. We explained we
didn’t ask for the additional plates and we tried our best to eat it and the waiter said “well you didn’t! and you must pay and I have pictures of the food you didn’t eat.”
So unfriendly and rude. We will not come back again. And i would not recommend the place to anyone.
Bad customer service dampened our dining experience there.
We had the lunch special, and it was a great deal. The portions were generous, and everything was delicious! Highly recommended!
My boyfriend and I went there for the first time. Great experience, however, it was extremely packed and it took them 15 min to come to the table and serve us. Other than that, everything was great and I’d love to go another time. I’d recommend them to anyone!
The server was new and had not spent time to learn the dishes on the menu. Second, some popular items, like the sliced onions ws not on the menu.

We and our friends celebrated our birthday and we had a wonderful time. The food, service, and overal vibe were great. The meat was really good quality and the service was good too.
Everything was great except they forgot one of the meats but we were still full as can be and they took it off our bill. It’s a tight space. Any party over 4 definitely needs to have 2 grills. Still very good though.
Good food. Service was attentive at times; less so other times. Really enjoyed the experience and cooking own food at the table. Will definitely come back. Favorites this trip were the yaki-shabu beef (preferred the miso marinate over the sweet soy) and shrimp garlic. Thirteen year old daughter called the shrimp "magical" :)
We love this restaurant. It took 10 minutes after being seated to be greeted. Then we literally only saw our server when he delivered food (once as other people brought food). Usually they explain the meats, but nothing. Disappointing on Mother’s Day.

We've been here before and loved it. The food is still good, but make sure you give yourself plenty of time. Our reservation was at 8:15 and we arrived right at 8. We understood there was a wait (we were early) and were seated at 8:17.
A few minutes later, or waiter came up to get our drink orders and abruptly said, "the kitchen closes in 15 minutes so you need to make decisions quickly." While I can appreciate seeing expectations, the whole meal was just rushed. We had to ask twice for a couple of things ordered (soup and appetizers came after BBQ items).
For the food, however, their meat quality is very good and their marinades are tasty. If just have liked a bit of time to really enjoy it.
They were very accommodating, extending our 90 minute limite to 2 hours because of the slow kitchen

We had a reservation on 4/28 at 7:30PM for my brother’s birthday. We were looking forward to dining at Gyu-Kaku again since we have not been able to for over a year due to the pandemic. We arrived 5 min before our reservation time and was told our table was getting prepared.
As we stood there waiting, someone from our party went to the bathroom and saw the table that was supposedly getting ready for us on the way there. No one was getting it ready and it stayed unclean for the 25 minutes we waited with no updates.
The lack of customer service at Gyu-Kaku was pretty appalling as no one was at the host desk nor gave us any updates as to when we’d be seated. I’m not sure what the point of a reservation would be if we werent seated over 20+ minutes after our reservation time. The restaurant closes at 9PM and we were still standing around after 7:50PM.
Most people know that it takes time to order rounds of food and then to cook it. There was no way we were going to wait any longer to even be seated to just barely have time to order and eat. By this time we decided to leave and go to Tokyo One down the street. We have visited Gyu-Kaku many times before and will not reconsider this location again after making a birthday dinner very difficult.
I hope this night was a weird one off for them, because our reservation was not honored at all and no one was courteous enough to let us know what was going on.

service was prompt, but we quickly ran out of table space and there was little clearing of unused dishes/containers. as such, we felt crowded and rushed. appreciated the quick attention to bringing food to the table, but would prefer that things be brought out at slower pace. it felt like a scramble.

We are definitely frequent fliers to this place . We love the atmosphere the food and service are excellent. We even tried the one in Honolulu and the quality was very consistent!

Great food as always, it was a pleasure bringing our friends out of town to enjoy a feast such as this.

First time experience was great! The quality of the food was amazing. Will go back again.
Frequently does not honor opentable reservation. I have to call to be sure they will not turn us away. Today they can only give a 5:30 time only. Today the meat was mangled and mushy, ground up and it became disintegrated and fell through grates and clumped up and stuck and was burned during cooking. When we asked the server they said all the meat was that way. We only ordered half the food due to this and ended up eating a second meal elsewhere as a result. No discount was offered even though we informed the meat was not good.
We were so excited to take my father in law to this place since he was visiting, unfortunately service was not up to par. We have been here many times and even throughout COVID, but service tonight sucked. It took our server about 20 minutes to even greet us and give us drinks. From sitting to getting food it took 1 hr and 10 minutes, but that was only a side dish of cucumber. We still waited a bit for the rest of the food. I will say after getting the first dish, having to complain to another waitress did help- but I really did not want to do that. As a frequent customer I just expected more, especially making an hour drive just to come here (so overall 2 hours)

Restaurant was a little more occupied than I’d like during the pandemic and service was a little slow. But I love the cook at your table concept so I don’t mind waiting a bit. Tip: ask for more sauces than provided for more flavor.

We had the happy hour special dinner for 2 for $50. This was a pretty good deal, which came with multiple meat selections, 5 beef, 1 chicken and 1 pork. Along with a bunch of veggies, soup and salad. Lots of foo, delicious, although some of the meats were a bit challenging to eat without a knife and fork and a few of the beef courses were a bit gristly. Had a good experience otherwise.
We live in LA and visit the Beverly Hills location at least 3 times a month. With the pandemic it’s been impossible to go in LA due to quarantine. However, this location is open so we made a reservation for 8pm. We had a short wait of about 10 minutes only to be told that the all you can eat menu was over at 8. We were devastated but the hostess made an exception but our 90 minutes time limit would only be 60. Although we wish we would have been told that at the time the reservation was made via open table, we were sup appreciative and the experience was even better than the Beverly Hills location. Can’t wait to come back to this location!
