Gwen is one of very few high-end restaurants that I return to for repeat visits. The food is mouth-watering
and all the wine that I've had there is first-rate. Service is top-notch and very professional as is the
excellent sommelier. I don't live full-time in LA but I try to come to Gwen every time I'm there. I can't wait to go back!
Run of the mill overpriced steakhouse. Nothing special about it. Even a factory like Mastro’s would be a better experience.
AWFUL waiter. Terrible Service. Mediocre food. Restaurant too dark and The management was unwilling to turn up lights. He offered us a flashlight! Though the steak was cooked perfectly, it was unseasoned with thin béarnaise sauce. Very expensive. $340 for three people who ordered one entree, three appetizers, 1 bourbon and 2 beers. We asked for more bread and were told that they only provide 1 serving per table and we couldn’t have any more!! Tartare served with leaves to eat it with but no bread or crackers. Ravioli was a 4 small ravioli portion for $34! Management had an uppity unhelpful attitude. We were seated in a dark section right in front of waiter’s work station. Ugly plates and flatware for such an expensive restaurant. Everyone we talk to was rude and condescending except the darling hostess who was friendly and welcoming. I would never go back.
Our dinner at the Gwen was one of the best meals I've had in ages. The bread and butter service was simply delicious. The lamb appetizer was outstanding. My husband and I ordered the New York Strip, the Short Rib Ravioli, the creamed corn, and the ratatouille. Everything was delicious and the strip was possibly the best piece of meat I've ever tasted. My one complaint was that the serving for the ravioli was VERY small (only 4 pieces for $34).
Fantastic food and fantastic service! Can’t wait to go back.
A great steak and a good red was what we wanted and it was delivered in spades! Very good service staff also made for a relaxing evening.
Bad food. Bad service. Bad drinks. Bad value. Just terrible.
Gwen is pricey but the food is excellent and the service impeccable
Very Nice but VERY expensive.
Brought in a group of 6 for a birthday dinner. The staff was very accommodating and made really great recommendations. The food was amazing and everyone was brought out at the perfect time. Thank you for such a great experience!
We tried the tasting menu and food was just okay. Steak was rubbery/ low quality.
Meat was not properly
The staff is excellent. They made me feel so welcomed and right at home. Special nods to Christian and Danny for their wonderful hospitality.
great place for a special dinner. Also amazing ambiance and decor. Great cocktails. Especially enjoyed the steak!
This was our third time visiting Gwen and didn’t disappoint! Our family was celebrating my birthday and our server not only remembered us from our previous visits but made sure my birthday celebration was special and added personal touches. We can’t wait to come back on our next occasion!
Salad , duck fat potatoes and pork chop were spectacular. The cod was a tiny portion for $38 and totally not worth it. Do not order the fish. A total rip off
Amazing food and service!
Gorgeous setting and phenomenal food! Chef Curtis came over to the table. It’s clear he’s very very involved in overseeing everything and the quality/care shows.
Had a brilliant brunch experience very exciting morning. Curtis and his staff were amazing hosts and we do hope they offer brunch again soon.
Food was amazing, best wagyu fillet mignon I've ever had.
This restaurant is fantastic. The food is amazing, the ambience is warm he is not only knowledgeable, but charming, witty, and attentive. I would definitely return & order the bone-in Ribeye AGAIN!
Everything was absolutely wonderful.
This was my second time at Gwen for dinner. The salad was beautiful and large enough for the three of us before dinner. I had told everyone how large the portions were and the salad didn't disappoint. Then came the main dishes and, although delicious, they were not what I remembered but more an appetizer size. I would go again for the salads, the beans were wonderful and, again, plentiful; but my two large guys left hungry.
We had the most memorable experience at Gwen restaurant on Saturday evening. What better location than Sunset Blvd and arriving at sunset with a view of the Hollywood sign a block away. The decor at Gwen is stunning Art Deco and the lighting from many impressive chandeliers is beautifully dimmed. The service at Gwen is the perfect mix of very friendly and highly professional. Bridget was our server and she was so lovely, knowledgeable and made our night special. Apart from our superb dinner the highlight was meeting Curtis Stone! He surprised us at our table, gave us a tour of his fabulous kitchen and then we had a photo. He was just so lovely! We were totally star struck! Now the food - the most delicious charcuterie board with pickled vegetables, we also added the olives and together with the freshly baked bread was a perfect entree. Next we had the Strip and Hanger steaks with duck fat potatoes and ratatouille sides. The most meltingly tender and perfectly cooked steaks! Take all advice from your waitstaff - they know what they are talking about. We finished with the lemon verbena curd dessert to share. Just delicious. Our wine was perfect with our meal and brought to us by the sommelier. We were treated very special and were so excited to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday at Gwen. It was definitely worth the trip from Brisbane Australia. Thank you Curtis and Bridget x
Great all around dining experience. We sat at the chef's counter and watched as their kitchen worked hard to prepare incredible meals.
Wonderful food. Spotty service but overall good.
Love this place. The ambiance is moody and welcoming, and the service is amazing. I recommend this place if you want to impress your meat and potato friends 😋.
We had our one year anniversary and the staff was very sweet to us about it. We got the corner table and excellent service. Gwen offers an excellent dining experience, and our dinner was over 90 minutes (we had the 5 courses). Truly memorable across the board.
Great food and service. Highly recommend
It was amazing. Gwen is one of the best restaurants in L.A., and my current favorite. The food is great, and it’s simply the best steak I’ve ever had. The wait staff are charming and knowledgeable. I’ve never left unhappy.
This is the most underrated restaurant in Los Angeles. The wagyu filet is unreal. Duck fat potatoes are to die for. Even the bread and butter is just incredible. What are you waiting for?
It was great learning new things about food from our knowledgable and friendly server, the grilled lamb ribs and the 80 day aged rib eye were the best. Beautiful space but we had fun at the chef's counter seeing all the kitchen action. Will definitely be going back.
Terrific wine list with some off-the-beaten path selections from Australia and a strong by the glass offering. The meats are terrific, with a wide selection of cuts and styles. Our Australian Wagyu was perfect, with a light pink inside a seared outside. Delicious.
We had a great time. The food was tremendous. The drinks were also delectable. Our waitress was knowledgeable and fun. We had great service from everyone in the restaurant. We would definitely go back and recommend to others. Bravo Curtis Stone and all who contributed to make our experience incredible.
Loved Gwen! The drinks were unique & well balanced. The food, absolutely delicious! And the service was so friendly and effective! The wine list is amazing, but a little daunting. When we brought that up to our server, she suggested sending the Som over. Once at our table, he asked us some clarifying questions & then when he realized we were open to his guidance, he brought 2 bottles of wine over to the table, presented them & then we choose the one that sounded more like what we were looking for. I thought it was a great way to do it....not to mention, he nailed it. Wine was interesting and paired perfectly with all of our food.
A wonderful evening. I would highly recommend GWEN!
I took my fiance here for his birthday and he totally loved it, the handcrafted cocktails were amazing. We went with the 5 course meal and it didn't disappoint. Portions were good but fulfilling, we brought our own wine to pair with our meal, and although the corkage fee is $50 we didn't mind. If you are an oyster fan, you must try theirs, they were so good we ended up ordering a second half dozen, they were from British Columbia, really tasty! We are definitely coming back on a weekend, we visited on a Monday night so it wasn't crowded at all. Last but not least, service was amazing!!!
I’ve now had the great pleasure of dining at Gwen twice in as many months. This is easily one of the premiere restaurants in Los Angeles if not the country. Gwen is outstanding in every way, yet also relaxed, comfortable and not pretentious in the manner of a number of places in LA. The staff is incredible. Warm, genuine, happy to be there and to take care of you. There are many to mention but Kamden, the manager, and Allen, my waiter both times, are simply the best.
And then the food. I’ve done the tasting menu both times and, believe me, this is the best value in town with the best food you can eat. $85 for 5 amazing courses (not small) as well as the best bread and butter you will ever have in your life. No joke. Last night one of our party was a bread maker (really good bread) and he admitted it was beyond even his. On the tasting menu, you get both items from the menu (perfectly cooked steak and their dazzling side dishes) but you get special items as well that are not on the menu. Both times, for instance, featured a pasta course; each was the best pasta I’ve had in years.
They also don’t rush you unless you have a time constraint. We had lovely relaxed meals of about 3 hours each time and we didn’t want to be anywhere else.
Gwen is special. And a marvelous taste sensation.
The food was good, but the service was beyond terrible. We did not have a reservation and was told there were no tables available despite there being open reservations online. We were told we could sit at the bar. While at the bar we made a reservation online, of which we should not have had to do. Given the poor initial service, I would not recommend this restaurant.
The staff was very attentive and pleasant. Loved that everything was served family style for 6 of us. We shared a 42 oz ribeye and scallops that were delicious. We ordered creamed leaks that were surprisingly good and don't miss the duck fat potatoes, so yummy!
