Atmosphere was great but all the food was very salty. We both ordered steaks Medium-Rare and one was rare and the other medium. It was also my wife's birthday sand I asked for something to be done when I made the reservation, like bring a desert, but nothing happened :(
Great food, drinks and excellent service. We had a great time and would highly recommend this place for a nice evening out.
I'm relieved that a restaurant that specializes in the artistry of aging, preparing and masterfully grilling meat can thrive in Hollywood. Gwen a one-of-a-kind restaurant for those who appreciate the special attention to the handling and preparation of meat that you would expect of a world renowned sushi restaurant in their handling of fish. Gwen's attention to detail also translates to they exceptional salads. Granted, I've only eaten there once, but boy did it leave a lasting impression. I'll be back when my body is ready again for loads of high-end red meat and salads.
Wanted to order dessert but didn't see our waiter or anyone whos eye we could catch for the about 45 minutes. Was kind of unbeliuevable.
Fantastic 80 day aged ribeye topped of a beautiful set of starters after a cocktail in the lounge.
Kitchen was amazing with all of the wood fire and deco of the restaurant was beautiful. A great dinner!
Amazing place and food. I only marked them down as the waiter completely forgot my wine order.
The perfect place for a romantic date.
We had our anniversary dinner, the seive, food, atmosphere.. all good! The amount of food was not huge, which we liked. Their bread is super good too.
The food quality has gone down. I ate here once before I remember the food being so good. This time the octopus carpaccio did not have much taste to it. The salad was good but not great. The New York steak was OK but nothing to write home about considering how much you were paying. Even the duck fat fries was not as good as I remembered. What happened??
The staff was informed and attentive. The food was incredible. Highly recommend going with “A Taste of Gwen” for first time dining. Beautiful space.
Excellent service and delicious food! All around great experience
I love this restaurant. Everything is excellent every time I go!
Wonderful and meticulous service. Delicious food and wonderful wine. The cooking is superb. This is definitely at the higher end of restaurants, but it is worth every penny! Highly recommend! Thank you for making our anniversary a memorable one!
A really delicious meal, memorable. This and Maude may be the two best restaurants in LA. Service was great, funny and kind. Only complaint is the room which somehow feels too informal for the level of food and price. The two rows of banquets just don’t work. Otherwise, a great meal.
The wine experience was poor. By the glass out of Corvin was not fairly priced for what was served. If you are charging that much, just pour it. Dictating to customers the appropriate temperature for red meat is pretentious and a touch off-putting. Staff is wonderfully engaging. Great place, just needs a fine tune.
Perfect cooked steak. A bit loud ...
Overall very good
The meat is really exceptional !! The potatoes with a special vinegar were great too.... Too bad the price, or I ll have make it my personal kitchen .....
Ottimi piatti ma la temperatura del locale ha rovinato il tutto: sembrava di stare in una cella frigorifera.
Thank you for making our anniversary dinner extra special
Pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the interior of this place is. The food was great and the staff made dining a well remembered experience.
Overpriced but good. Not outstanding, just good. There are way better high end places for less money around LA if you are looking fo good meat
Sat at the counter. Food was excellent but portions small and price high.
We did the 5 course prefix dinner
charcuterie and then a seared trout followed by a mushroom risotto, and a New York strip and then a flourless chocolate cake
They set us up with a nice glass of champagne complementary,, The food service just gonna set the food down and leave, they asked if we would kindly move from our table to the patio for our dessert, to make room for other diners, but they comped us on the Spanish dessert wine.
85 per person hundred dollar bottle of wine, plus tip
Speedy, attractive Restaurant,
very good quality steak, but ultimately misses the mark.
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Great for a special occasion.
The best steak I've ever had
My wife and I finally made it to Gwen for dinner last week. It was a long-standing bucket list item as we are big fans of Curtis Stone (unfortunately he was not there that night!).
We had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table. It was a little disconcerting to see our bar companions leave as they had been waiting too long for their food.
However we had an excellent meal from the a la carte menu. Bone-in ribeye was exceptional!
As most dishes and sides are large enough to share the overall cost was not as high as we had expected!
Service was efficient if not particularly friendly and overall we were happy with our meal and would certainly visit again next time we are in LA.
We went to Gwen for my wife’s birthday. OH MY GOSH. Everything was fantastic. From the stecca bread and hand-churned butter, to the hangar steak and meatball sandwich, to the roasted cauliflower and duck fat fried potatoes, to the lemon and chocolate rhubarb desserts, everything was outstanding. The only criticism I had was that the meatball sandwich was far too generous; we had to take two thirds to go.
The service was also outstanding, and I highly recommend sitting at the chef’s counter. It’s both entertaining and fascinating to watch them work.
Great Drinks, amazing food and outstanding service. Give the “taste of Gwen” a try.
Its fine, didn’t love the place, and didn’t hate it. The table next to us complained about how long the food was taking. They ended up getting all these little extras, from appetizers to desserts, as a way to make up for it. Mind you, servers let patrons know ahead of time that all steaks will take 45 minutes to one hour before the food arrives. And, upon making our RSVP, I made it clear we were there celebrating a bday. What did I get? Nothing! Not even a happy bday, so, yes, I’m a little bitter. Service was fine, not super attentive, but not bad. The food was flavorful and delicious. But, with so many other great restaurants out there (eg Bestia, Alexander Steakhouse, Nobu, The Factory Kitchen, Cut) Gwen wasn’t anything special. So, if you’re reading this and deciding between this place and another, I say you pass on Gwen.
Food was good - not amazing. Finding hair in two separate dishes and waiting for extended periods between courses put a damper on things.
Gwen is one of very few high-end restaurants that I return to for repeat visits. The food is mouth-watering
and all the wine that I've had there is first-rate. Service is top-notch and very professional as is the
excellent sommelier. I don't live full-time in LA but I try to come to Gwen every time I'm there. I can't wait to go back!
Run of the mill overpriced steakhouse. Nothing special about it. Even a factory like Mastro’s would be a better experience.
AWFUL waiter. Terrible Service. Mediocre food. Restaurant too dark and The management was unwilling to turn up lights. He offered us a flashlight! Though the steak was cooked perfectly, it was unseasoned with thin béarnaise sauce. Very expensive. $340 for three people who ordered one entree, three appetizers, 1 bourbon and 2 beers. We asked for more bread and were told that they only provide 1 serving per table and we couldn’t have any more!! Tartare served with leaves to eat it with but no bread or crackers. Ravioli was a 4 small ravioli portion for $34! Management had an uppity unhelpful attitude. We were seated in a dark section right in front of waiter’s work station. Ugly plates and flatware for such an expensive restaurant. Everyone we talk to was rude and condescending except the darling hostess who was friendly and welcoming. I would never go back.
Our dinner at the Gwen was one of the best meals I've had in ages. The bread and butter service was simply delicious. The lamb appetizer was outstanding. My husband and I ordered the New York Strip, the Short Rib Ravioli, the creamed corn, and the ratatouille. Everything was delicious and the strip was possibly the best piece of meat I've ever tasted. My one complaint was that the serving for the ravioli was VERY small (only 4 pieces for $34).
Fantastic food and fantastic service! Can’t wait to go back.
A great steak and a good red was what we wanted and it was delivered in spades! Very good service staff also made for a relaxing evening.
Bad food. Bad service. Bad drinks. Bad value. Just terrible.
Gwen is pricey but the food is excellent and the service impeccable
Very Nice but VERY expensive.
Brought in a group of 6 for a birthday dinner. The staff was very accommodating and made really great recommendations. The food was amazing and everyone was brought out at the perfect time. Thank you for such a great experience!
