Beautiful setting for a beautiful meal! Great service and food.
We had a tremendous meal and dining experience. Loved the food, staff and ambiance.
Awesome restaurant food was amazing and the service was on point. Great for a date night
Loved the meats here. Definitely worth giving them a try.
Good value for the quality of food and service.
It’s a special occasion place that you can have any night , it impresses any cynics or psychos!
Will be back for sure!
A truly incredible experience from the service, ambiance, and most notably the food. 10/10
Though most patrons dress very casually, this is definitely a great special occasion restaurant. The architecture and atmosphere are lovely. Our server was great too...the perfect mix of attentive and hands-off. My gripe is that the food did not make an impression on me, except that I left the restaurant feeling that the kitchen needs to take it up a notch.
Their rubs and marinades are delicious but the proteins themselves (we ordered pork, octopus and tuna crudo) were surprisingly bland. The octopus was tough and chewy, and the pork was not the least bit flavorful or tender (firm bordering on tough, and only slightly juicy).
The pork chop was garnished with large table grapes on the vine, which was not visually appetizing...nor did the grapes (with large seeds) add much to the dish. The chop was virtually hidden under the even larger cluster of grapes so I figured if they are giving this much emphasis to the grapes, they will surely pack and amazing "concord" punch. But alas, they were just tepid ol' table grapes. Along similar lines, for a July dinner, purple grapes on an entree read distinctly Autumn...especially now when peaches, plums and nectarines are at their peak...and perfect with pork.
The side salad of shaved raw fennel was a snooze. The side of wax beans and haricots verts was equally dull. The standouts were the bread, potatoes and garden salad...which basically tells you that this meat-centric restaurant has veered off track.
This is a bother shop steak house and they had no steaks available. The menu is very small and there are no steak options besides 2. The wine list is also very very small. Not many options for anything. Look at the menu before you go to make sure you like something. They had a dry aging refrigerator full of meat in front of us but told us they had no steaks ?? Just odd.
Another great dinner, thank you to all the servers, Somm Andrew, FOH, BOH staff. Gwen always provides excellent service and food quality, very consistent! Looking forward to our next visit. 80 day dry aged Ribeye, plus Blackmore - can't go wrong when ordering these dishes. Need to order early as they mentioned that numbers are limited.
Thank you, A+! We'll see you all soon.
This restaurant is a European experience with American fare. The service was excellent and attentive. All aspects of the food service were amazing.
We wanted to try a Mich
The perfect food and ambiance for a fun night out with friends. The restaurant staff were very welcoming and attentive! The bread was amazing!
For a restaurant with a butcher shop up front, they had a very limited steak selection. There were only two non-Wagyu cuts available. They also didn't have soft drinks. I've dined all over the world and never been to a restaurant that didn't serve soft drinks. While the Wagyu filet was delicious, it, along with all the Wagyu offerings, were way overpriced. I like spending money on nice things, but there's a thin line between value and crazy that was definitely crossed.
This restaurant is beautiful and the service was on point. I thought we had decided on everything we wanted to order until the waiter showed us the special Wagu steak menu. Both the Wagu New York Strip and Filet were tender and flavorful. This was definitely a special place to dine.
It was truly a special experience! The service was so personable and the food was unmatched. Thank you to the whole staff!!!
From ambiance to menu, to the quality of food and service, this was an excellent dining experience.
Great restaurant that was a ton of fun. They live up to being a legit steakhouse. Somme and waiter were both dope dudes.
Food was amazing and service was incredible. Great place for a special occasion!
Hands down and quite simply the best restaurant in Los Angeles. The food is transcendent and the wait staff are pitch perfect. If you have the money, eat here every single day for the rest of your life. I know I would if I could.
Great food and excellent service
what a treat!!! truly enjoyed ourselves. our server Nick was just wonderful. every dish was delicious and the bread was to die for. highly recommend.
Great service! Great food! Will go back again and again!
Sitting at the chefs counter and it was a blast. The quality of the meat is superb. The charcuterie platter is the best I’ve ever had in restaurants. The wagyu carpaccio full of umami flavors.
Thanks to everyone in the kitchen as well as their service team for a truly awesome evening!
This was our first real dinner since moving to LA last August due to the pandemic. The food was exceptional and the bread was otherworldly.
Service was also exemplary but I ordered an ice tea well before dinner came and despite asking several additional times, it finally arrived right before dessert.
And given they charge $6 for a small glass, I would have expected it to be free since I went my entire dinner without it.
Desserts were a little disappointing and all had alcohol in them.
The steaks were fabulous but quite pricey.
The appetizers were absolute favorites.
First time. The entire meal and service were exquisite.
Best steak in LA. The overall meal was stunning and Gwen is one of the best places to eat in LA. The great wine list, but make use of the sommelier.
Took my fiance for his birthday--the food is expensive but it easily lives up to the price. A meal we won't forget!
Superb food & service. 80-day aged steak a must try!
Went in with a group of 4, everyone enjoyed the excellent food & service. Ordered the bone-in Blackmore ribeye and it came out perfect as always! Paired well with '95 Rhone wines. Other menu items ordered - yellowtail crudo, house charcuterie plate, grilled octopus, cuttlefish-ink tagliatelle, and Berkshire chops. Many thanks to our awesome server Austin, Somm Andrew, manager Mark and the rest of the FOH and BOH staff. We highly recommend going to Gwen, looking forward to the reopening of Maude (hopefully soon), but the Pie Room is definitely a must-try spot as well. Already planning our next visit, thanks to the team at Gwen!
Just do it. It’s a great experience and the food is fantastic.
Brilliant in every aspect. I think it was probably the best steak I’ve ever had also. Staff were fantastic.
So glad to see Gwen back in business! Our server was knowledgeable and a joy. The food was amazing and the dessert was perfection!
3 days after doors reopening and we are back for more .. love the ambiance of this place , starting with the walk through the butcher shop store front into the restaurant and a world of fine dining that is unique in this part of town .
Starters for me were the fresh oysters and for my lady love the yellowtail crudo, both were fresh light and tasted of the sea and a perfect setup for the main attraction for which we chose the 16oz boneless wagyu ribeye .. buttery melt in the mouth beefy goodness as close to steak heaven as I think I will ever get , eaten plenty of steaks in my life and this is the best to date , getting to choose your blade from a box of customed bone handled steak knives is a bit of fun as well
Finished with the Pavlova which as an Aussie was not your traditional Pav but that is quickly forgotten once you dive in to the beautifully presented plate that is both a visual and dining pleasure .. picture perfect Pav
once again an amazing dining experience from start to finish worth every $$ and with on site Valet parking available it ticks all the boxes for a perfect date night , or if your out to impress or celebrate a special occasion
Overall awesome! Great hospitality, customer service, food and drinks, staff, cooks, chefs, and sommelier! Highly recommend
2nd day of full reopening, up to speed with no issues with service and food quality. Will try the 80-day or older dry aged steak at our next visit. Blackmore wagyu A must-order. Thanks to our server Jacob and Somm Andrew!
Our anniversary dinner at Gwen was amazing. Everything from
the bread to the Ribeye was truly remarkable
Service was good humored and fun. Food was delicious and thoughtful. Our late dinner was unhurried and memorable. Thanks for a great night.
