Beside it was a bit fresh in the Restaurant, everything was very good.
This was my second time there and it was outstanding as was the first. Highly recommend for Carnivores!
Incredible waiter, delicious food. Great table as well. The only negative was that we were chilled most of our meal. Overall a top notch experience.
The service and food was spectacular. We celebrated our four year anniversary.
Highly recommend Gwen for any occasion.
Make sure you know you will be a paying a few bucks before you go otherwise worth every dollar.
The food s amazing!! Truly one of the best steak places I've ever been to.
I've been quite often and adore it. The waiters -- some are great, som not so much, which is usual for anywhere these days. Even the not so much are better than most.
This is very expensive but worth it.
Excellent food, Service and ambiance. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful, as always!
Great NYE dinner experience. That Wagyu was to die for! Highly recommended
One of the loveliest restaurant spaces in Los Angeles. The food is creative, thoughtfully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The service is excellent. It is not inexpensive, but for any special occasion, it’s my first choice.
Great experience. Food and service was great as usual. The lamb ribs, oysters, steak, and blackberry frangipane were the highlights.
A pleasant Christmas meal offering for the holiday season. Very memorable food
It's fine. There are better steak places in LA but this one has a nice Bearnaise sauce .
Not really. Expensive and lttle effort to justify the expense.
Fantastic first visit! We wanted to try something new and it was great. Beautiful inside. Great vibe. The attention to details from choice of glassware all the way through to the restrooms was phenomenal. Food great. Pork chop was unbelievable, short rib ravioli was great would be a nice starter. Lamb porterhouse was delish. Do NOT skip dessert. Will definitely return.
Food and service was excellent 10/10
We went to Gwen for the first time on our anniversary last year and were completely blown away by everything. Quality, Taste, Presentation, Atmosphere, Service - everything! The meat (and everything else) is among the most flavorful and tender we've ever tasted and the staff is so warm and inviting, and conscientious. We went again this year for our anniversary (a new tradition?!) with high expectations, and they were surpassed! We tried-out the Chef's Counter this time instead of standard seating to see if the experience would be different. Both years we ordered the "Taste of Gwen" 5-course meal (a great value!) and while the food was excellent, there didn't seem to be anything more special or different about the Chef's Counter in comparison to standard seating. We've been to other restaurants that offer a Chef's Counter experience (at a prix fixe rate) and the courses were very custom-created for us and served to us direct from the kitchen across the counter. So I was probably hoping for something along those lines, which the Chef's Counter seating at Gwen does not provide. It was fun and entertaining to watch everyone working with such precision and efficiency in the kitchen and to see all the cuts of meat being grilled on the open charcoal fire, but we decided that the Chef's Counter seating is not a 'must' - unless you just really enjoy watching professionals at work in a kitchen.
We will certainly be back to Gwen in the future for their excellent hospitality and phenomenal cuisine!
Service, food and experience were all over the top!! We did the 5 Course tasting menu and it was pure joy. Can’t say enough about how much I love the restaurant and the happiness that emanates from my being when celebrating at Gwen!
Disappointing experience. This was our second visit to GWEN because we loved it so much the first time. This time not so great. We were seated at the far end of the restaurant on the corner of the kitchen counter. It was cold and lacked any atmosphere in this area. The wait staff did not deliver my cocktail. It was delivered to the wrong party.
A serious contender for steak - and Steakhouse - of the year. Now if we can only get the butcher shop to deliver . . .
Tasty food, but service was subpar. We were seated 20 minutes past our reservation and it seemed as if the host had forgotten we were there. Once seated the server was rigid, he basically told us how the evening would go with no room for how we wanted our experience to go. Once we ordered, the server rarely checked in on us unless it was to deliver food.
Best meal ever!
Amazing food, great service,I'll definatly go back
Exceptional food and service.
It is outstanding food and service at a price consistent with outstanding food and service.
There is just no way around it: if you want this quality of food and this quality of service, it is expensive. Just is, unfortunately, since it means it can only be afforded a few times a year.
Host nice pleasant gentleman
Bartender male not very friendly very cold told him that it was my first time he couldn’t care less
Female bartender very nice ...
Waiter good enough
Surprised we ask for a little birthday candle and they said we don’t use candles here ... answering in a way like we were asking them for something not very glamorous... it’s a steak house in Hollywood....
I could go back just because the food ....
They can improve a bit the service... we have a lot of restaurants closing around... we need more customers we need more business... let’s make our guess feel welcome !!!
Nice appertizers. Main course not so good we had 80day ribeye and kurobuta pork chop.
Our dinner was good, but for the price we expected mind blowing which is was not. Seemed magnificently over priced.
Food’s absolutely incredible!
We are here before and loved it. This time was very disappointing. The steak was very fatty. The cauliflower had a gross thick sauce on it. On a positive note the waiter and Somalier were excellent.
Restaurant is fabulous. I love the art deco style and architecture. We went for Thanksgiving dinner and it was so delicious. There’s not a thing I would change except I think the stuffing and cranberry sauce should have been given to each of the diners rather than shared. My only critique. I loved how they brought me out a beautiful and soft cashmere shawl so I didn’t have to wear my jacket in the dining room which was on the cool side. Staff was very accommodating polite and willing to meet every need. Would love to come back here next year for Thanksgiving again.
We had lunch on Thanksgiving, so it was set menu. Food quality good and service attentive. We would have appreciated a bit more time in between courses.
Excellent all around. Great service, food and drinks.
The food and service was outstanding. The food was a bit pricey, but we knew that when we made the reservation. Our waitress was outstanding and she made the experience very pleasant. Our only complaint is the significant mark up on the wine. We are not opposed to healthy margins for restaurants, but the multiple on the bottle we ordered was beyond any reasonableness. If we are back in LA, we would eat there again, just want order any wine.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s my favorite restaurant in LA. The Blackmore strip is to die for (arguably the best steak in town - and I’ve been to CUT) and service is second to none. Have been at least a dozen times and will be back again.
The selection of beef is unbelievable. Their wine selection from California and France was very good. The service and atmosphere was perfect for a nice romantic evening. We had the Wagyu Strip Steak cooked perfectly Medium Rare. We also had the Duck Fat cooked potatoes, Both dishes were perfect and very flavorful. Can hardly wait to go again.
Atmosphere was great but all the food was very salty. We both ordered steaks Medium-Rare and one was rare and the other medium. It was also my wife's birthday sand I asked for something to be done when I made the reservation, like bring a desert, but nothing happened :(
Great food, drinks and excellent service. We had a great time and would highly recommend this place for a nice evening out.
I'm relieved that a restaurant that specializes in the artistry of aging, preparing and masterfully grilling meat can thrive in Hollywood. Gwen a one-of-a-kind restaurant for those who appreciate the special attention to the handling and preparation of meat that you would expect of a world renowned sushi restaurant in their handling of fish. Gwen's attention to detail also translates to they exceptional salads. Granted, I've only eaten there once, but boy did it leave a lasting impression. I'll be back when my body is ready again for loads of high-end red meat and salads.
Wanted to order dessert but didn't see our waiter or anyone whos eye we could catch for the about 45 minutes. Was kind of unbeliuevable.
