Guu Tramasa will keep the concept of “For your daily re-charging spot” of all Guu Izakaya and introduce Osaka street food to Vancouver locals.

Osaka is the second largest city in Japan after Tokyo. During the Edo period (1603-1867), Osaka was known as the “kitchen of the nation” and the center of commerce in Japan, where rice and other specialty products were traded. With this background, Osaka’s unique culinary culture has developed, and the region is still crowded with tourists from Japan and abroad, who enjoy both traditional dishes and inexpensive street food.

The two staff members who manage Tramasa are originally from Osaka, which led to the creation of Guu Toramasa based on the theme of Osaka’s food culture.

This is one of our favourite places to eat in Vancouver. We have been going to several of the Guu restaurants for probably 30 years, after our first trip to Japan. Guu Toramasa and Guu Original are our go to locations. Masa, one of the head chefs Toramasa, was originally at Guu Original and has introduced more items to this menu. Plus, Toramasa can accommodate larger parties.

Had a great dinner with friends from out of town. Everything we ordered was delicious and the staff were very attentive. The bill was a bit hefty, but worth it!

Great service, delicious food. The $18 for 3 dishes of appetizer is great value. There is a 2-hour seating limit on a Friday evening and they told us beforehand and gave us polite reminders which were respectful. I mentioned it was my friend's birthday and they kindly came out and sang a birthday song for us which was so thoughtful. My friend and I enjoyed the meal and service very much that night!

Seafood was well done. Would order again Grilled skuid Yellow tail capcio Items that wasn't for me Bolognese udon odd combination could be preferenxe Fried tofu should be taken off the menu Oknomoyaki too saucy and mushy Service was really awesome. Attentive and helpful.

What a fantastic restaurant that offers some of our favourite dishes from Osaka. The service was great and it was a really good vibe. Food quality was superb and there was a large drink selection. Definitely recommended!

Our go to Izakaya venue in the downtown core. Great food and prices. Service is also top notch.
