Dine out menu was extremely disappointing
Freezing cold on the patio. With a lot of cold dishes on the dine out menu. Took a long time for tea to arrive and hot water refills. Very cold by the end of dinner.
We ordered 5 small dishes and every one was prepared thoughtfully and at such high quality!
The dineout menu was terrible. The dishes were all bland or actively tasted awful. The hot dishes were lukewarm.
Dine out menu was a waste of money, nothing worth eating because it didn’t even taste Japanese

The experience was excellent. I booked for a late evening dinner and readily confirmed, however the government announced operating restrictions and we were promptly informed of the fact. I received a call from Yoko explaining the situation and were still offered an option to book an earlier schedule. Ordering was a breeze through a QR Code on the table. Payment was via my Apple Pay including the tip. We were served promptly and the service was friendly and attentive. Every now and then our servers had to move around briskly to serve other diners, but we were not short of their kind attention. The food servings were just right in apportionment, but what got me were the flavors. I do keto and since it was New Year’s Eve anyway, I had mentally prepared myself to have some carbs and undergo the keto flu the next day. I have no regrets whatsoever! My favorites were the eel rice porridge (put that wasabi ball into the broth and get your mind blown with the explosion of spicy flavors and sensations. The other dish I had was their beef; it’s hard to describe but it was succulent and flavorful.

The food wasn't very good. Comparing to other Guu restaurants, I think their chef needs some improvement.
Our table was at the Tatami area, the setting was nice and very private with the privacy screen between each tatami.

Nothing I just miss Japanese Service, hopefully pandemic goes away and bring back Japanese staff.
I love the food here, tho I just hate their online ordering system. They do not give you a choice to use the system or not and are forced to tip on the service you didn't receive before getting your food.
It also takes away from my dinner to be on my phone with my friends for the first 20 minutes of our meal while looking at our phones. I don't think I'll be back due to this.
Online app system failed and caused a half hour wait before realizing orders were never received. Apologies came profusely with good food, but the experience was ruined
This is my first time bringing my mom here and it is her new favorite restaurant. The covid measures are just amazing and its great to find a place where i feel safe bringing my mom. Not to mention the food was so good and service was on point. Just a note that their ordering system is all automated through your smartphone and its pay as you go - which is fine once you get the hang of it but may be harder for some older/less techy folk.
they only have one waitress serving the whole restaurant, food is wait too slow and also need to pay the bill at the begining, feel like a fast food more than a restaurant.

Non existent service why charge a tip
First time to this location Food and service is always great everywhere but I am not a fan of the mobile ordering and having to pay when you submit your order as we often keep eating and adding more items. Also the app / site crashed and lost everything and we had to start again.
My date was deeply warmed not only by the wonderful variety of hot plates, lofty patio and good conversation but by the perfectly placed fire stones on our table. Highly recommend for those dating easily frozen fräuen.
Food came early and tasted good.
The food was decent but not up to the hype from my co-workers pre-Covid. The patio was nice and quiet but they could definitely spruce it up and make the ambience better on the patio and upgrade the tables and chairs.
Great food and nice to see them adapting to the pandemic not only with spacing but digital menu and ordering, it brings an end to trying to flag your server for attention.

The service has changed a bit as we need to order online now but even so, there is still customer interaction and the servers are prompt to deliver food and drinks with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. They have adapted properly with covid restrictions and has kept everything clean despite being busy as well. Always a great time here!
This definitely isn't my first time dining at Guu Garden (or any of the other several locations, for that matter). COVID-19 is challenging for all businesses and there's going to be some weird practices put in place as everything is figured out.
So for starters: Guu needs to change their ordering system. I totally get and respect if they want to move to online menus. Even online ordering can be okay. However, as others have noted, the concept of paying AND tipping for table service before anything is actually served to you is not a good system. To top it off, our card was charged successfully but the order didn't go through. They promptly refunded one upon the second successful submission but we had to flag someone down to do this. Plus, as others have noted, once they drop your food off - they never bother to even check in on you until they clear the plates. So, the service wasn't bad, it was just minimal and it's difficult for us to judge the level we'll tip prior to the service taking place?
The food is still great. It's a limited menu right now but you can still get most of the favourites and full bar service. Plus, the patio is open and I always forget how large and quaint the patio is.
Overall, still a good spot but it would be improved again if they make some tweaks to their COVID ordering system.

We ordered 2 steaks, they were so over cooked and tastes old. I asked for new ones, they said they were sold out. They said they would refund me and provide us with another option. The other options were smaller portions of something else, and they made us pay for them after serving us overcooked and old food. They were more expensive then the steaks. I would have preferred to just order the steaks again and for them to be cooked properly and taste normal and not old. Instead I still had to pay for something I didn’t want that was half the portion size and even more expensive than what I had originally ordered because they were sold out of the steak.
We only ever tried the lunch menu before but the dinner one is just as good! The agedashi tofu with kale tempura and truffle oil was the perfect starter. I ordered chef’s choice oden as well which was warm and refreshing for a rainy night! The staff were great as always. Very energetic and helpful
My group and I came in for lunch because we heard excellent reviews about the service and bento boxes. The staff and quality of food went beyond our expectations! We’re already planning our next visit. Hopefully dinner!
