We ordered 2 steaks, they were so over cooked and tastes old. I asked for new ones, they said they were sold out. They said they would refund me and provide us with another option. The other options were smaller portions of something else, and they made us pay for them after serving us overcooked and old food. They were more expensive then the steaks. I would have preferred to just order the steaks again and for them to be cooked properly and taste normal and not old. Instead I still had to pay for something I didn’t want that was half the portion size and even more expensive than what I had originally ordered because they were sold out of the steak.

We only ever tried the lunch menu before but the dinner one is just as good! The agedashi tofu with kale tempura and truffle oil was the perfect starter. I ordered chef’s choice oden as well which was warm and refreshing for a rainy night! The staff were great as always. Very energetic and helpful

My group and I came in for lunch because we heard excellent reviews about the service and bento boxes. The staff and quality of food went beyond our expectations! We’re already planning our next visit. Hopefully dinner!

The server keeps rushing us the whole dining time - take plates right away and drop the bill with the cc terminal....and they called to confirm the reservation while I’m at work - 2 pm, I replied : yes, we will be there and I can’t talk now. they keep repeating the dining time is 2 hours and we will be sitting in the bar, —- YES I KNOW! I was told when I made the reservation! She still keep trying to say something!Come on!! Don’t think will go back anytime soon!

Good place to go with friends and coworkers. we went for lunch, they have good selection for lunch menu, AND if you did preorder at least 30min in advance, you will get 10% off.
Waitresses were friendly, polite and nice. They’re aware to our needs (ex: pour more tea and when to deliver our preorder food, since one of my friend was late a bit)
Btw, their chirashi combo was good and Portion was good for the value

in summary, it’s good! i will come back again for sure.

note: you need to take stairs to go up, it’s kinda having meal at rooftop feeling :)

Enjoyable and fun.

Food was delicious and although I've seen other reviews mentioning small portions, I thought the portions were adequate. My dinner companion and I each ordered 2 dishes and shared and we were pleasantly satisfied.
I highly recommend the cauliflower karaage and the beef tongue! We will definitely be back.

Excellent place for eats. Perhaps tricky to find but not impossible.

Restaurant was not ready for our reservation. Waited another half hour or longer. Service was mediocre.

Tasty and unique items on the menu. Bento boxes are very good.

For the past decade or so, this has been my go to place for food, beers, birthdays, dates, friends, etc. The ambiance is always amazing, the customer service is great. I can always expect the beers, the food and the customer service to be the same or even better. Highly recommend this restaurant for any and all occassions!

My friend and I tried the dine out menu. I personally find the portions small and some do not taste great compared to the price. However, it was a good experience and I know Guu Gardens has lots of great foods from the regular menu.

Everything was so delicious and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and prepared with care! I love this place.

The dine out menu was fabulous, me and my friends got all 9 kinds to try. We loved the elk meat and saba salad especially. I would definitely recommend! Guu Garden is always a blast of flavors!

Solid experience for a repeat guest. It was quite busy as it was Dine Out. The food was on point, with great value highlighting their delicious menu. Only thing to note was the service... they seemed a bit overwhelmed with the volume. Couldn't clear the dishes fast enough as the kitchen was pumping out the dishes. Overall, pleased as usual.

Overall it was an okay experience. Some of the dishes were not very good. In particular the karaage vegetables with some sort of bitter and very salty dip. The servers also kept forgetting what they served and kept asking us, or we had to remind them we were missing dishes.

Found by accident on a rainy day. Great little authentic Japanese home style restaurant with the traditional dishes. The staff are friendly and helpful. We’ve gone back multiple times now and it’s consistently great.

Great food, super friendly service, and fun atmosphere. Some of the dishes are outstanding like the duck breast, short ribs, green beans....Prices are very reasonable and food is made for sharing.

Came for a dinner. Got a table for two in a corner, which is not the most comfortable. Service was otherwise good except that they forgot about one of our orders and we got served that dish considerably late. Restaurant was quite noisy. Food was good. But for the kanto dashi, I would have liked more detail about this dish or advice when ordering, because I ordered it with a few ingredients and it came with almost an empty bowl. It's because I don't know how the dish usually turns out but I would have liked the server to point out that to me instead of letting me find out after ordering. Food is a little pricey for what you get.

For the quality of food but too noisy and waitress not helpul.

Food was nothing special. Heard good things but overall disappointed in the food. Kimchi bibimbap, cauliflower, short ribs, chicken knees were just okay. Unagi Nuki-Sushi was the most disappointing and had an unusual flavour with soggy rice. Best dish was the green bean tempura.

Food was wonderful but the ridiculous theatrical yelling by the staff was beyond annoying. They were all equipped with iPads for the orders so there was absolutely no reason to scream them to the kitchen. I assume this was to make the place seem “authentic “. It failed. It just meant conversation with your table mates was challenging

Guu has amazing comfort food and drinks, would recommend the green bean fries and the Saba shima sushi!

This was an excellent venue for our birthday party. The staff were very accomodating with our requests and the food presentation was superb. They capture Izakaya ambience perfectly.

Been there for years as my workplace is a couple blocks away. I have eaten everything on the menu but I always go back to the two bento boxes for lunch. The food quality is always the #1 reason why I return. Excellent service and peaceful setting in the midst of a very busy part of downtown.

However I noticed this time the portion of the meal has gotten 10% smaller. I understand it has to do with rent increase and/or overhead...still feel sad about it.

Anyway...pls go and support them...just don't expect huge portion if you haven't been there for a while.

The server who helped us was so considerate and helpful! Alot of the menu was in japanese and no pictures, so it was difficult for us to choose what to have being our first time. But the server recommended to is some of his favourites and he was so patient with letting us go through the menu. He did not show any attitude or irritation considering how annoying we must have been.
