Gusto (pronounced Goo-sto) means tasty in Italian. Located in Toronto’s Corktown neighbourhood, Gusto 501 brings together the innovation of sister restaurant Gusto 101 and the soulful hospitality of Janet Zuccarini’s first restaurant, Trattoria Nervosa. Since opening our doors in 2020, Gusto 501 has been serving fresh takes on Italian fare in Toronto’s east end. Designed by award-winning architecture firm PARTISANS, Gusto 501’s space is punctuated by glowing terracotta walls and an oversized “garage door” façade that opens up to reveal a multi-level dining theatre.

Every level of Gusto 501 unfolds into a unique experience. Whatever you're craving, there's always a seat at the table for you - our famiglia.

    This was the fastest meal I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant. Our reservation was for 6:15 PM and we were out by 6:58 PM. There is an air-conditioning problem in this restaurant. For the amount of money that you charge for food this is unacceptable. I ordered two main courses and one bottle of wine and felt completely uncomfortable the entire time I was there because it was uncomfortably warm. This is completely unacceptable.

    Was an off night for them in the sense that it was really busy but disappointing nonetheless. Took 15-20 minutes to get an aperol spritz and a glass of wine which we were not able to enjoy with our meal. Wanted to order more drinks and food at different junctures but wasn’t able to get our servers attention. Ended up cutting dinner shorter than planned.

    Food was delicious. The second floor was way too damn hot. Outdoors was easily 5-10 degrees cooler. Would have stayed and drank longer if not for the heat.

    Olives, pasta and pizza were great. House wine at a buck an ounce is a steal! Love the rosé! Sat on the rooftop patio, nice ambiance for summer. Server was attentive, friendly and efficient.

    Disappointed with our experience. We spent several hundred $$$ hoping for a relaxed dinner with a friend, but felt rushed from the moment we sat down. The server kept reminding us of a 1hr 45min time limit something we weren’t told when booking. We were constantly asked when we’d order or Leave, even while other tables stayed longer undisturbed. Not the kind of service you’d expect at this price point.

    I have eaten a few times at Gusto 501 and I feel compelled to give them some recognition for what has always been an excellent experience. The food is very flavourable, cooked to perfection, and good value including being a decent sized portion. The house wine is a deal at $1 per ounce, and is of good quality. And the servers have always been efficient, unobtrusive and on top of everything. As a bonus the setting is pretty cool - nicely designed, tables are not too crowded, and atmospheric. This is a very good place to enjoy a special night out!
