Gustazo Cuban Restaurant & Cafe
Signature dishes include Slow Roasted Pork, Enchilado de Mariscos, Empanadas, Camarones al Ajillo and the luxurious Cuban flan.
We requested a table away from the door but sadly did not get it, and it was a bitter cold evening, even though we made reservation 2 days prior. Everything else was wonderful! service & authentic food was too notch!!
Great food, lovely waitress!
Lovely and delicious food! The curtained vestibule made for a draft-free dinner on a cold night.
Great restaurant. Consistent quality. Tight space, so difficult for people with ambulatory disabilities. Could use better curtains to keep out the cold. Would recommend and return, however.
The food is incredible. The salmon I had was one of the best I've ever tasted.
Always busy and food is really good. Can't wait till Cambridge location opens!
Fantastic food and cocktails. Always order special menu offerings!
For my first time there the place was outstanding! Met all my expectations. Thank you Mike
Gustazo is my new go-to restaurant; food is consistently fabulous.
Always a great meal. Excellent choices. Prompt service.
Always delicious! Guztazo's treatment of Cuban cuisine never disappoints.
The food, which was great, was ruined by incompetent service. Unfortunately, for the second time this restaurant disappoints. We were careful to describe the sequence of dishes we wanted: this appetizer, then these small plates as entrees, and so on. The unctuous server smiled and agreed to everything. But as soon as the appetizer was served, a deluge of our later plates arrived -- save one. Which was OK, because the black bean hummus was quite delicious, and the empanadas were very tasty, and the beet salad was surprisingly good. But where oh where was our final dish?
Everything was cleared away by other staff, but our server not to be found. After an awkward 15 minutes, he finally appeared and assured us the final dish was "right on its way." 10 minutes later it arrived. Tasty enough, but the 25-minute wait for the final dish -- and no query whether we wanted more drinks -- made what was supposed to be a romantic meal turn into a mystery of "will it ever arrive?"
Sorry, Gustazo. At these prices you have to have great service, or you have nothing at all.
I've been to Gustazo many times. A favorite place. But it does get awfully loud in there.
This was my 3rd or 4th visit to this restaurant. On every prior visit, the food was outstanding, and completely delicious. This trip was rather boring, with nothing really sticking out as being outstanding. They have changed some of their dishes, and while nothing we ordered was necessarily bad, it was just rather unmemorable. Sadly, it's making me rethinking making the trek all the way to Waltham to visit this restaurant. I will try to their new location in Cambridge when it opens. Hoping that will restore my faith in what was once a restaurant that I raved about.
One of my favorite restaurants! Food is consistently delicious.
We ordered the small plates in this busy restaurant on a cold winter night. The small plates were delicious and were delivered as they were ready in the kitchen. I loved the empanadas, flavorful and filled with spiced beef. Our favorite was the camarillos al ajillo, hot and delicious. We soaked up the delicious sauce with toasted bread. The roasted cauliflower and manchego cheese, pistachios and onion was something I'd never had before and loved it. The cauliflower was very savory and the cheese was deliciously melted. The pistachios added depth and crunch. The remolacha roasted beet salad was a nice Cuban twist on beet salad and featured oranges and lots of greens. Its bright flavor was welcome on a cold night.
Consistently fantastic on all fronts.
I was hooked on the empanadas from day one, and my only regret is that I can't try everything.
The food is good, but too grease and in the expensive side
A lovely, warm and slightly elegant atmosphere. Very good service, and delicious creative tapas.
Atmosphere was pleasant and service was excellent. The brunch food included deliciously seasoned egg dishes and crepes.
We had sangria and mojitos which were very good. We also had the flan and churros which were both delicious.
This is definitely a spot worth checking out in Waltham. The atmosphere is very cool, and certainly very unique to the restaurant. The food was incredible; I'll be going back just to be able to try more things from the menu!
Gustazo also did a terrific job of accommodating us when we were running late for our reservation. This was a very thoughtful touch. Speaking of; make a reservation! It's clearly a popular spot.
Gustazo is a small, quaint restaurant with great food and friendly staff. I've been here a couple times and have yet to be disappointed
Paella was too salty. Appetizers of bean hummus and fried potatoes very good.
One of Waltham's gems. The small plates are terrific; hard to pick a favorite. And churros and chocolate can't be beat.
Absolutely fantastic, quaint, and genuine spot for incredibly authentic Cuban cuisine that's prepared with the freshest and most succulent ingredients and presented on colorful and unique flatware. Almost feels like you've been transported to Cuba!
This is the second time I go to this location and both times I have been turned away. The first time I had to speak to a manager to get seated, this time around after we got turned away at 1:30pm letting us know they could not seat a party of 5 because all the tables where reserved and we would have to wait over an hour to be seated. We walked away and as I did I was able to reserve a table thru open table for 2:15pm. How is that possible when I was just told they had no availability???. This place is wrong for turning customers away and this was the second time they did it to me. I returned because I found the food to be super tasty, but they lack in customer service and that needs tons of improvement. I ordered the pincho plate and the server told me they no longer have this plate. I asked him since when?. He said about 6 months ago. Why do you still have it on the menu? It's time to update the menu and stop turning customers away.
Came for brunch. Drinks and food were terrific
I have been to Gustazo's 3 or 4 times and each time the wait staff is fantastic, the food delicious and the price is right for the meal you receive. I would recommend this to everyone who loves Cuban food or even if you just want to try it. treat yourself and try Gustazo in Waltham
Inconsistent with meal. Had this 2time before different every time. This time disappointing. 2 shrimp, 2 small scallops 2 small squid, too many small mussels. In coconut sauce this time too salty.
Went with two friends and had seven apps and one dessert. Memorable interesting food- pork belly, yuca fries, cauliflower, empanadas, great and pretty good were beet salad and octopus, only fair was halibut ceviche. Tres leche pretty Good too. Excellent mojitos. Atmosphere lively and colorful. Good waiter and service quick. Too many apps out at once.
Incredible food. Space is small, so can get quite loud during dinner hours with lively conversation
The food is incredible. It tastes great, and arrives at your table looking like a piece of art. Service does slow a little bit when they are busy, but otherwise has always been excellent. If you go during core dinner hours you should get a reservation. Lunch has a great selection of sandwiches. For dinner you can get full meals or get things tapas style. I recommend going tapas style. Desserts, coffee, or a hot chocolate are also great. This is a place I return to again and again due to it's quality.
We've been to Gustazo's several times and it never disappoints. The menu is nicely varied, service is friendly and good, and the food is delicious!
We came here for my birthday. Service was great and everything we ordered was delicious. We got the chicharrones and queso frito tapas and the paella (dinner special), which had shrimp, mussels, clams, chorizo, and chicken. Things are on the pricier side, but the food was good, so it's worth it for special occasions.
The black bean soup although authentic was a little salty, the Cuban too much mustard and not thin like a Cuban. The steak sandwich was a mess to hold or eat. The chicharrones were superb.
We have been customers of Gustazo’s since they were in Belmont. Authentic Cuban cuisine elevated. I lived in Miami for 25 years and Gustazo’s is the real thing!
Good food again. Fun menu. Have been there 3 times for lunch but would love to try dinner. Small place, reservations are a good idea!
I love this restaurant, the food is delicious, imaginative and interesting. Good variety, plenty of spice and good flavors and vegan/vegetarian friendly. It is small and a bit hustle bustle but the servers are spot on with being observant but not obtrusive and getting the food out promptly. It gives the feeling of being in a popular neighborhood restaurant in Havana - or at least my vision of that. I have been there 3 times in the last 2 months, focused on the Tapas and had new dishes each time. Beyond the Tapas, the churros and tres leche were delicious and the wine list has some nice choices too.
Excellent service and food
