Gustazo Cuban Kitchen & Bar - Cambridge
When visiting this lively neighborhood restaurant, savoring our authentic Cuban fare and listening to our carefully selected compilation of Cuban music, we aim that you our guest, will have a Gustazo!
Food, drink and service were all very good (food was excellent). It's not a quiet spot, so hard to have a conversation, but the food is worth it.
All the food was very tasty and well prepared. Service was very quick (if anything, too fast - would have liked a bit more time before the dishes started to appear).
We had a fantastic, interesting meal. Nice change up from typical menus in other restaurants. The food snd cocktails are terrific and the atmosphere is lively and fun
Service is friendly and on point. Portions are generous. They recommend 2-3 dishes pp which would have been way too much food
Would definitely go back
Yes. Very yes. Absolutely yes. Have I typed enough characters yet?
We were seated in a corner so dark we needed our phone light to read the menu. We ordered several tapas and one large pulled pork main. The tapas were far too salty - especially the ceviche. But the pulled pork was outstanding. And the service was fantastic.
Excellent tapas selection, great cocktail menue (and honestly mixed), wine list adequate, good service. Can't comment on main diishes since were quite content with tapas. Will come back again.
Gustazo was great! The food was delicious and we'll definitely go back. However, being Cuban we wished there was live music or better ambiance.
Love the mussels, the ribs, and the deconstructed tamale.
One of our favorite restaurants. We especially lie the atmosphere of the downstairs section of the restaurant.
Celebrating a milestone
Had just come back from the wonderful food in Cuba and was missing it until I found this fabulous delicious place. Yay!
This place is just wonderful! I will be back soon and will tell all my friends and colleagues!
They were great. Had to add a person last minute and they were able to accommodate. They also called me to let me know where I could find parking before the reservation. I’ve never had a restaurant offer that. So service is A+. Plus the food was to die for!
This is now my #1 restaurant in the area. By far, the best menu and good prices for the value. Every single tapas dish was tasty, we ordered more because we all ( my spouse and our 2 teenage boys) enjoyed it so much.
The best was maybe, the dessert crepe. We visit France very year, my wife is from Brittany (so she knows a good crepe & gallette) And even she thought your crepe was très bonne.
Our server was also very good, but a seemed a little overworked, as did other staff we met.
Excellent food, wine & cocktail choices.
Food was excellent. Although, costs added up quickly with tapas. Waiter, Julian, was excellent. Wasn't crazy about seating in lower level.
Great dinner, dishes were all seasoned well and came out with beautiful presentations. Great service
Had noticed this place before but, given the recent write-up in the Boston Globe, thought we'd never get in. But then we found out they are now open for lunch! The space is lovely and really does evoke Havana. The service was attentive; the only reason I withheld a star is that we waited a long time for our lunch, although it wasn't busy that day. However, the hostess had mentioned that they were having a soft opening that week, and I expect things will speed up once they hit their stride. And holy wow, were our sandwiches amazing! First of all, they're huge; you could easily split one and not feel deprived. They were also pressed and toasted to perfection. The Cubano was the best either of us have ever tasted, deeply flavorful, smoky roast pork. The sofrito in my sandwich (can't recall the name, but it's right above the Cubano on the menu) had a vibrant lime backbone that took every mouthful to another level. We don't normally eat much for lunch -- but we devoured both sandwiches avidly. We can't wait to go back for dinner!
We had a fantastic dinner at Gustazo's. The menu is varied and everything we tried
was delicious. Our server was friendly, easy going and helpful with great suggestions.
We will definitely be returning.
My first Gustazos experience was in Waltham, a much smaller and boutique presence than its twin in Cambridge. But as the Waltham branch was temporarily closed, we drove to Cambridge. A disappointment. Waiter admitted the two did not serve the exact same menu. Lamb chops were so undercooked and flabby fatty that we sent it back. Spareribs saved the day but oh then what was the goo on the cauliflower? My friend who has visited Cuba couldn’t even recognize the dish. Then the dessert- bread pudding was cement textured chocolate pudding with a cookie stick in it. No amount of pomegranate garnish was going to save it. The picadillo btw was so imaginative my Cuban expert friend said “ugh”! If you’re going to innovate then at least make the dishes recognizable. Can’t wait for Waltham’s Gustazos to reopen and hopefully with their original chef and staff. Cambridge service was excellent but I don’t think I’ll ever take anyone familiar with Cuban cuisine there.
Wonderful meal and great service. We ordered too much, but that only means wonderful lunch tomorrow :)
I just had the most amazing brunch. Everything was delicious and beautiful. I love what they've done with the old Elephant Walk space. One pleasant surprise was how many appealing vegetarian options they have : not something I associate with Cuban cuisine. Definitely one to check out!
Excellent food and excellent service.
Incredible food. Don't miss the rib and octopus small plate and pork large plate. Can't wait to go back. My new favorite restaurant in boston
It was a bit noisy, but that lessened as the evening went along. Other than that, everything was great! We had a wide variety of tapas that were all delicious. Great sauces, really creative and out of the ordinary. Highly recommend!
We were a few minutes late so they put us in the dungeon downstairs....they also didnt indicate to open tables that we even showed up and couldnt figure how to use the open table credit..other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play....
The food, the room, the service -- it's all outstanding! We love this place!! Better food than in the Waltham location.
Delicious tapas and drinks! Could not stop eating until I could eat no more.
A beautiful restaurant and wonderful menu! Everything we had was fantastic! Definitely a great place to go with a big group so you can try a lot of the small plates. I highly recommend the empanadas and the corn fritters, but everything we tried was delicious.
After a recent visit to Miami, we had a desire for some authentic Cuban food. We remembered a good place in Waltham called Gustazo and we were thrilled to see they also have a new place in Cambridge- with a parking lot. Big plus. Empanadas , cerviche, croquettes and roast pork were all amazing. They are moving to a new location in Waltham and are looking forward to a visit there as well.
food was much better than waltham location. i hope it stays at the same level (i loved the waltham the first two times i went but the last few times were not so great...)
i am not a vegetarian but found all the vegetarian dishes amazing!
Food's a bit rich and a bit sweet, but boy is it yummy!
A little too noisy, they need to install some soft surfaces. Otherwise, wonderful as always. Service is terrific, attentive without being intrusive. Everything we ate was delicious, some things more than others. Drinks are good and strong. Altogether, my favorite local place these days.
The new brunch menu is excellent! We will definitely be back.
Literally everything about my experience was perfect - the food, the atmosphere, the service. The drinks were strong, delicious, and top notch - a rarity. I’m not easily impressed and Gustazo totally blew me away. I cannot wait to visit again!
The food, the service, and the ambience were impeccable! I had mistakenly made a reservation for Sunday, the hostess was kind enough to have us seated on a busy Saturday! Thank you again for a wonderful evening! We will be back soon.
My wife and I went to dinner here for date night. It was our first time at this location; we went to the Waltham location over the summer. We loved it! The food was amazing and the service was likewise amazing. We live less than 2 miles and can’t believe we hadn’t been there before!
Terrific experience from beginning to end. Our waitress was knowledgeable, ready with great recommendations on food and wine and could not have been sweeter. Every item we ordered was terrific, the avocado and quinoa salad absolutely amazing and I have definitely never said that about quinoa salad. 😀. Mussels and ceviche just as good! The only downside was our table was right near the door and even with the vestibule when it opened it was chilly, but it was crazy cold so that was totally out of their control. Can’t wait to go back!
The plates are small but each is a gem! We shared four plates for two of us and particularly loved the bacon-wrapped maduros. Save room for the churros for dessert.
