Gustazo Cuban Kitchen & Bar - Cambridge
When visiting this lively neighborhood restaurant, savoring our authentic Cuban fare and listening to our carefully selected compilation of Cuban music, we aim that you our guest, will have a Gustazo!
Top notch food, great cocktails, and great service. Each small plate was better than the next.
Amazing spot in Porter Square! I was very impressed with the service, craft cocktails, and delicious tapas! Definitely recommend the cauliflower, and Jibarito as part of dinner! Can’t wait to go back.
We have followed Gustazo since it first opened in Belmont. Excellent food and service
We were excited to try the Cambridge venue since we have been to the Waltham location and enjoyed it very much. However our food was SOOOO salty. Often inedibly so. Also, portion sizes for the tapas are small for the price, and awash in sauces but without bread being offered to soak up the sauce. (Cuban food without bread? In what world is that?)
Great food, great drinks, staff are polite, effective, and considerate about any errors or delays.
We loved the food and service, but the cocktails didn’t match the level of expectation set by the delicious food. We had to return an extremely spicy Bloody Mary (and we were a group of spicy flavors lovers) and I didn’t finish a cold brew coffee drink of which I can’t even remember the name. Except for the drinks everything else was delicious.
Keep doing what you are doing. I love your menu and bar. Thank you for having GF food!
This was a new culinary experience for me as I had never had Cuban food before. It was innovative with interesting combinations of flavors and textures. Staff were helpful in choosing items from the menu, drinks and wines were complementary to the food. The room had a layed back comfortable vibe, the staff were cordial and efficient. There is a lounge downstairs as well with another bar and some tables too. This is a place that will keep you coming back.
great food, server Sandeep was excellent. Will go back again
The food is interesting and delicious and the small plates are generous. My one complaint is that the room is loud. Seems that with all the elaborate decor and the long build-out some sound baffles could have been strategically placed to deaden the clatter.
This was my second visit to Gustazos. The food was as always great. The drinks like the first time, were decent but not memorable. If I go back I will try wine instead of their signature cocktails.
Unfortunately and unlike the first time that I was in, my party was seated downstairs. The reservation process required a little too much effort for what should be an easy 1-2-3 . This time and knowing how the lower level is, I asked for the upstairs. About 6 hours after leaving a message, I got a call from the staff letting me know that I was all set for my party of four to be seated upstairs. Upon arrival we were seated downstairs even though there were empty tables upstairs. Extremely loud, stuffy and remote that at times we thought the staff forgot about us.
We ordered tapas, as we did the first times. First, the consistency on the portions was not there. Believe me I know what tapas are: I went to college in Spain a country that I visit every year. And please don’t take me wrong , the food was excellent (although I don’t understand why a miniature Cuban sandwich on fried plain rains is called Jibaritos-which is a Puerto Rican term for peasants, Guajiritos would be the Cuban word). Secondly, the arrivals of the tapas was so scattered that we thought we were done when the last one came in about 15 minutes after we were done and we were getting ready to get the check.
The feeling was not great although we all agreed that we will certainly go back because of the quality of the food. The first time we were motivated for desserts -which were also great. Not this time.
I appreciate the cuisine that is close to my background and heritage and I hope to get a better experience next time. Overall Good.
Kitchen was backed up. Waiting for second course was nearly 4O minutes. Manager was called apologizing and offered a free round of drinks. I disaster night for everyone
Everything we ordered was delicious, and there were so many interesting things on the menu, we want to go back and try them all. I loved the Cuban Cigar cocktail, complex and not too sweet. Service was friendly and competent, exactly as it should be. It’s our new favorite restaurant!
Highly creative takes on Cuban and Spanish food. Excellent cocktails, beautiful restaurant. Very good service. Loved it and will be back.
Food is delicious. Waiter gave us great menu suggestions. All around awesome!
Food is excellent and each dish is creative and delicious. The service was slow to start but then was quite wonderful. Portions are perfect for sharing and my fiancé and I had 4 smaller plates which was more than enough.
If you have any trouble with noise I recommend you sit downstairs. Upstairs is so noisy it is impossible to enjoy the experience.
Great food and service.
The food is delicious. It’s a little pricey and when it gets busy (Friday night) the service can be slow. The portions are good for tapas size but the ingredients used and the flavors make up for it...kinda. I’d definitely go back but only as a special occasions spot.
Great small plates!
Although I enjoyed the food very much I was put off by the hostess needing to tell us that the next reservation was at 8pm. We were seated a bit late and left well before 8pm but even more ridiculous was the fact that there were very many open tables so no need to lie about the people that were never coming.
The food was fantastic. The server was well informed. Definitely will return
My wife and I eat out about twice a week. This restaurant was the noisiest we have ever encountered. We could not hear the people sitting accross the table from us. The noise was assaultive and unbearable. The food was tastly but expensive for what we received as the tapas portions were small. I would not go back if the food was free!!!
Excellent vegetarian options! Staff, cocktails and food are all amazing!
This is a very happening place. Food and drinks are great, service is very attentive, atmosphere is extremely lovely and cool. GET a RESERVATION. Expensive but worth it for special occasions.
We have been to Gustazos inCambridge and Waltham several times. It's my new favorite restaurant. The food is always amazing and the staff is warm friendly helpful and prompt. The flavor so are incredible and the value for money is outstanding. Go, but make sure you have a reservation so you won't be disappointed
Loved the maduros and ceviche! Also great: tamales and pork belly. My mojito was the best I’ve ever had and I enjoyed the tres leche cake for dessert. A fun and delicious place to enjoy tapas and cocktails.
Fantastic service, really fun and happy to host you. Food was very good for the most part. The soup/seafood was good but not amazing.
Loved our server Johnny. He was soo sweet and attentive. Food was delicious as well!!
The food is delicious. We shared a variety of tapas and each one was flavorful and distinctive with interesting presentations. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. Overall, we had an enjoyable and fun evening.
Excellent food, professional and welcoming service - will definitely go back.
Food here is amazing! We had two different tapas and wonderful mussels. Everything was delicious! Cocktails are great as well. The servers are friendly. Value for money is outstanding!
This is rapidly becoming my favorite local restaurant! The food is just wonderful -- delicious, creative, beautifully presented. The service is warm and efficient. The room is lovely.
Atmosphere was great except for the warnings we were given several times about the next party arriving at a certain time and how we’d need to leave so they could clear the table in time, etc. Once would have done it. Several times displayed their anxiety in an unprofessional way. We were glad that we were there on the early side as it got very loud towards the end of our dinner. Everything else was lovely.
Best restaurant I’ve been to in years. Amazing food, drinks and service. Excellent all around, can’t wait to go back.
Recommended drink - westerly wind
Recommended food - chicharrones
We enjoyed another outstanding meal at Gustazo's in Cambridge the other night. We are becoming regulars and have introduced several of our friends to this jewel of a restaurant. It has it all: pleasant, friendly atmosphere, excellent servers, superb food and tasty drinks. Plus - a biggie for me: they are excellent at providing gluten free meals and are very careful about avoiding cross-contamination. This is important for those of us with Celiac disease. So, bravo, Gustazo's!
The food, the drinks, the service and ambiance were all great!! The noise level at some point got slightly loud and my friend couldn’t hear me talk. Otherwise I will surely be going back here again. Everything was SO flavor packed and we both were stuffed!
I have been here for dinner 4 times. The previous 3 experiences we ate upstairs and it was great! This time we got seated downstairs and there a very foul scent in the air of basement mixed with bathroom, not very pleasant. Service was okay. I don't think it was our servers fault but our drinks took 13 minutes to get to our table. Our two apps came out before our drinks. The roba vieja which is my favorite dish tasted different. It was more smokey rather than tasting like a smooth tomato and garlic base. Everything else was great.
Haughty hostess made us wait for a table even though they were plenty of open tables. Major attitude problem.
Such a delicious meal, and our server Johnny made it extra special.
Great food but harsh acoustics & high noise level diminished our dining experience.
