Gustav's Pub & Grill - Vancouver
The food was great and the staff excellent. It was a bit hard to read the menus though becasue of little light in some areas.
Fabulous wooden interior with ambiant retro German touches and soft lighting. Good food and drinks and prices. Did the one in Vancouver WA in a strip mall so maybe that's why the exterior is so strip mall boring looking instead of German? But the exterior needs to be upgraded to look like the interior. The first one I ate in was the original and that exterior is better and German authenic looking.
Overpriced food that is not good. The mashed potatoes were instant, on a 20.00 meal. The so called 2 chicken breast meal was 1 breast butterflied open. For the price of the foood we expected a lot better. Wish we would have gone to Red Robin
Enjoyed our food totally (party of five) but even better, the service!! Thank you Adrian; best server ever!!!
We enjoyed our meal very much, we particularly enjoyed our server.
The food was good and we enjoyed our meal. The thing that was unpleasant is that we were trying to visit with friends that we hadn't seen in quite a while and the waitress was very intrusive, checking on us way to frequently. They didn't need table, place half empty.
We had a wonderful Father's Day dinner and we were able to bring a store bought cake that they kept in their refrigerator and served for us after our dinner. We were a little bummed that happy hour which is served all day on Sunday's is not offered on any holiday weekend but dinner was still delicious as it always.
Delicious food and a great beer selection! Will definitely return.
Great food and service we will be back. Helpful
Great food & great atmosphere. Still miss the Rheinlander, but glad Gustov's is still here.
We had a wonderful dinner. Great service. Great food. I would recommend.
We have been to Gustov's twice now and have enjoyed the experience. The beer selection is fun with flights you design yourself, and fun cocktails too. The German food selection is very good, lots of authentic choices. We have taken friends who also really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is casual, family friendly dining. Friendly service from the time we stepped in the door, at the table and holding the door for us as we excited with a friendly have a nice rest of your evening. The food really is good and it is difficult to make up my mind what I will try each time. Okay, I absolutely love the Hungarian Chicken Jager, absolutely wonderful over spatzle. I can't bring myself to order anything else. One of our party ordered the sausage selection, picking which 3 sausages he would like from the broad selection. Another of our party had the sauerbraten, fork tender with a delicious sauce. This is going to be one of our go-to places.
We love the Bavarian atmosphere and appreciate the attentive wait staff, who are always eager to help.
The food was too salty but otherwise good and the service was friendly.
I love loved the food, great service, noise level was acceptable.
Always stop at Gustav's during our visits to Vancouver. Yummy food, attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere, accommodating for little ones in high chairs. We will keep coming back.
Fabulous Mother’s Day brunch!
I normally like Gustav’s but I would not recommend their Mother’s Day brunch. The food selection was minimal and didn’t seem to offer anything hat was more kid focused. Also there was only 1 non Pork option. In this day in age with people having a variety of dietary constraints having a limited menu made it difficult for all in my party to find enough to eat. Also the service wasn’t very good. The food ran out regularly and was slow to be refilled. For the price they charged I would have hoped for a much better experience.
Sofia is the best server ever and the Mother’s Day brunch was excellent!
Best brunch I have ever had.
My friends and I very much enjoyed Gustav's. We were celebrating my son's birthday (although we did not mention that -- so many restaurants do an embarassing birthday event whether customers want it or not), and everyone was encouraged to order exactly what they wanted. Everyone praised the food, and the server was very attentive about topping up drinks or bringing us anything else we might need. We went on a Wednesday evening, and there was not a crowd, so noise was not an issue. We had a convival evening, and Gustav's did everything right.
Decent food-fondue was divine! We had a late dinner & it was obvious the staff wanted to go home.
Disappointing for Easter brunch. We were hoping for better German style food. Some dishes were good but most were average or below. Not a good value for the fixed price. Our group was "stuffed" into a small but adequate booth. Given we had a disabled person, it was hard to get in/out of. The other option were tables of 4 with chairs of questionable strength. This was our first experience at this restaurant, and we will not likely return. Sorry.
Great authentic German food at reasonable prices. Good for family or date night
Whitney provides excellent service and the food, drinks and ambiance was excellent!
I went to Gustav's for my brother, Robert's birthday. We started with the fondue and then entrees. Robert had a great time enjoying the German cuisine. The service was excellent. However, the portions were less generous then they have been in the past and therefore the value was not as great as it has been in the past. Overall, a very good evening of fine food & adult beverages. They do have an extensive imported & craft brew list and wine list.
We expected to have food similar to what we have had at Gustav’s in Portland. Were we in for surprise. There was no comparison to the quality or portion size we were served in the past. Portions were small. My mashed potatoes looked and tasted like paste. Our entree was served so quickly we didn’t have time to finish our fondue. I felt like we were in a fast food restaurant. Once served our waitress did not check on us until she delivered the bill. Needless to say, we will never return. Such as shame as I love German food and have such fond memories of taking our family to The Reinlander and Gustav’s. Horst must be turning in his grave.
Pleasantly surprised. Much better than the Portland location. Went w 2 German people and they loved it, as well as the food. Will definitely be back
Beautiful restaurant, great food, very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Perfect place for me to propose to my fiancé at. Beautifully attractive establishment.
This was a great place for a family dinner out. Its not "quiet" so a perfect place to include the kids.
Our meals were excellent, however know that there were only 3 options for children's meals and they were out of the one thing our kids wanted most - Mac & Cheese!! We would definitely visit again but more often without the kids. One thing we were VERY pleased with was the handling of the meal for our child with peanut allergies. His food was brought out separately and by a different person than our server. Quite impressed that they take the allergy issue seriously!
Wonderful evening with friends. Food was great and Desiree is a terrific server...so fun and attentive.
Great service even on a busy night like Valentine’s Day. Fondue was excellent, as were or drinks and schnitzel!
Was very warm but really good food, have been many times and will keep going!
Manager on duty was on his game. Very perceptive to our needs.
Everything was great except the veal seemed kind of tough ! Service is always A1!!
We had reservations and were seated right away. Prompt, courteous service. We usually start with the fondue and a sausage - something we always look forward to.
Our server was outstanding but she was trying to take care of a table for 12 plus several others so was stretched thin. Even with that, she made sure we were happy with our food and drinks. Very attentive in spite of her workload. Food was good, prices are a little high for lunch but tasty and a good range of options.
