Great food and beer
Great recommendations from the server.
We visit Gustavs almost every January to celebrate my husbands birthday. On the reservation request, I checked the box for Birthday. Unfortunately we were seated in the bar and the ambiance was not as special as the regular dining room. I was expecting some singing and the birthday Apple Strudel. We only got the dessert. Our waiter was fantastic and he delivered the beers and dinners perfectly.
Food as delicious as always! Request for quiet corner filled. Helped going before the dinner rush began.
Food was great. Service was good. I would have preferred a table vs a booth only because I tend to sink into those booths because I am so short. But overall it was an enjoyable experience.
Food was awesome. Service a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Noise not too bad. I could easily talk with anyone in my party of 6.
Enjoyable and festive Christmas Eve dinner. Food and service excellent!
I really used to enjoy this restaurant but quality and service is lacking at this point.
Server was slow and not very attentive. Food was OK but packed some flavour.
We will be looking elsewhere for German food in the area.
I did not read close enough. My suggested tip was based on meal, plus gift certificates, and a drink I did not order. The tip I left was too high for what we got. Cannot go back on drink I did not order and the tip being calculated on full bill not just the meal, cause I did not figure it out till I got home. I have always liked them but this visit to this location has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Great German food, amazing lamb.
The most outstanding part was our server. She was so personable and attentive. Food was good. Table and seating was spacious.
Granted, it was Thanksgiving, BUT disappointing. They ran out of prime rib hours before our reservation
so two of us ordered turkey breast dinner and one the fondue with bratwurst. All of it very bland (even
the cranberry sauce!), except for the brats. Caesar salad was good and fresh, alas no anchovies in house.
Considering the crush staff were all cheerful, competent, and speedy. Unfortunately despite having a nice corner booth in back. noise level atrocious... even for the deaf.
Prime rib great, we didn't get any bread/rolls, no salad. Had to ask for silverware and napkin . For the price... no
Oh and with reservations we had to wait an hour to be seated. No were to sit and not much room for standing, very poorly organized . Disappointed
We went on Thanksgiving so very busy yet service was good and the staff seemed to keep their wits about them despite super packed and some impatience customers. The food was very tasty.
OVERBOOKED for Thanksgiving!!! Just what you would expect when you don’t have enough tables, bartenders, and supplies in general due to poor planning by management.
Went here for Thanksgiving and what a great experience! Started off rough with a near 20 minute wait past our reserved time, but once we got to our table it was a holiday miracle! Our server Mariana was a holiday gift! Friendly, professional, prompt and attentive! She made us feel welcome, apologized for the initial wait and touched base with us frequently never alluding to the fact that they were so busy. Then our meal was what turns out is a Thanksgiving tradition of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry dressing and gravy with pork roast and roasted brussel sprouts and chutney and sausage and sauerkraut AND pumpkin pie and whipped cream for under $26.!!! My friend and I have been out to a LOT of restaurants over the years on this day, and I have never had the amount of food at this incredible price and prepared and plated so well and TASTE GREAT! I warned him that we may very well be back next year!
This was a great Thanksgiving dining experience. Everyone was gracious, friendly, and responsive. The food? Fantastic. Turkey breast tender and moist, the dressing was perfect as far as I am concerned. I love brussels sprouts and these didn't disappoint--I think they were grilled or sauteed, but whatever the method, they were cooked to perfection--not overdone or underdone. Yay Gustav's! My partner had the pumpkin pie, which was the only thing I wasn't crazy about. A little too stiff and spicy, not soft and custardy they way I like it. Oh well, everything else was a home run, and I'll be back next year for sure.
We had the fondue & the Thanksgiving feast & it was wonderful. We will be back to try a club sandwich and fries and of course more fondue!!
Thanksgiving meal. Limited choices but something for everyone. Such a great place. Good food, good service, good atmosphere.
Having being the 1st time not preparing and eating Thanksgiving dinner at home, I was a bit nervous going out to dinner on Thanksgiving. That being said, my mom and I enjoyed their Thanksgiving feast and had an excellent meal and experience. When making the reservation, I told them that my mom walked with a cane and had difficulty walking through crowds. To my wonderful surprise, they seated my mom and I at the 1st booth in the Pub. It was great! Our waitress was extremely punctual, professional and personable. I have a feeling that this will be our new tradition.
Thanksgiving dinner with friends. Great food and drink!
Exactly as I expected. Wonderful fondue and schnitzel. Delicious creme Brule
It was our first time dining at Gustav’s and it was great!! It was recommended by a friend and we decided to try it out. The food was excellent and the service was great.
Fantastic food and above excellent server! We had a wonderful night for our girls night out.
We were celebrating a birthday. They stuck us in a back corner where there was another birthday happening....That was not the problem. There was five of us and we were in a booth....it was a little strange and cramped - . But overall the food the yummy and the service was good.
It’s become our date night spot... my husband is German and loves the food - Regards to the kitchen. Super nice and attentive staff from hosts to servers. Will be returning as often as possible!!!
Consistently great food and service. Never disappointing. Thank you!
Never disappoints. I love their chicken schnitzel and fondue!
The food was great the service was incredibly slow. It took over 10 minutes for our waiter to come by after we sat down. From the time that we sat down to getting our food was nearly 1 hour.
We love Gustav’s. We always loved The Rheinlander, and have now adopted Gustav’s as our new favorite. Great staff and great food! We just got back from Germany and Gustav’s is every bit as good (we actually like Gustav’s better).
Overall excellent experience. Hadn’t been in awhile and liked the new menu.
The biggest complaint is the speed to which you receive your food. We had not completed our appetizer when our first course came (soup) and just began eating the soup when our meal arrived. I appreciate getting food quickly, but it is not a speed competition. The food was average in flavor as is expected at this restaurant.
Great restaurant. Service was excellent. Very busy so I was glad we made the reservation.
Schnitzels were excellent which is reason we go. Salads drenched in dressing so ask for on the side if not your thing. service was slow but friendly, unresponsive to un-eaten salads and comments about a well drink that tasted like water (supposed to be pineapple juice and vodka only) but in fairness, we did drink it all before complaining.
Moderately priced restaurant for mediocre food. Probably better for a quick lunch than for dinner. Good beer and strudel.
Wonderful birthday dinner. Had a reservation for six and increased that to nine a couple hours prior. With no hassle. They were accommodating with space and even gave us a table where the kids could be themselves. The manager sang a unique Birthday some to our two birthday people! Lively time and I highly recommend having your own experience.
We came for my daughter's birthday and I had even asked the host about a birthday dessert for her so they KNEW it was her birthday. I had never had the pesto fondue and asked if I could try a small sample to see if I wanted to order that for our appetizer. The waiter said "it's just pesto mixed with the cheese"and so no, I did not order it because I had no idea what it would taste like! There is no appetizer that has an assortment of dippers (ie sausauge, potato cakes, bread, pretzels). We were completely done with our food for at least 20 minutes before I was able to get the waiter's attention to get my daughter's birthday dessert. Then it took another 20 minutes to get it to the table, at which time she had gotten up to use the restroom so he took it back and waited for her to return. Then ANOTHER 20 minutes to get the check. I had no intention of spending more than 2.5 hours having dinner and a small plate of strudel. It was a Thursday so it was NOT that busy. I think most of my frustration was with the waiter but my shepherd's pie tasted like it came from a can. The other's all had burgers so not really a way to mess that up. I have always made my kids their birthday dinner so I thought this would be a huge treat. To me it was more than $100 that could have made her burgers at home.
The restaurant status and level has declined dramatically. Guests were impolitely noisy and not considerate of other guests. Kids screaming loudly without any restriction from parents. One guest popped an inflated object making a loud noise and scaring the other guests and employees. Our neighbor guests were badly behaved and loud. Food was only O.K. Cheese fondue was cold, salty and the bread was stale. Hostesses made so many mistakes and forgot a few items we ordered. Not a good place to eat or served.
Good food, very good service (not obtrusive but there when needed)
