We had an awesome time at Gus’s BBQ! The food was fantastic & the service was outstanding!
Tables need to be spaced apart more and it took too long to get our bill
Food was good
Love the catfish.
Outstanding service. Fried chicken was dry.
The ribs were excellent. The Southern Fried Chicken was dry.
Great wait staff and bartender and great dinner!
We havent visited Gus’s since 2019 and we were so disappointed with the food! Our cocktails were fantastic, love the vibe inside and service wonderful. But food had gone downhill. Our cornbread and nachos were mediocre , the pulled pork, shrimp and grits just ok and the brisket was embarrassingly bad. Very dry, very tough. We are hoping it was just an off night, will try again.
The food was amazing the service was excellent.
Great food and service. This is a must restaurant to visit in Pasadena
Food is amazing, but old fashion way too sweet. Gin and soda kind a tasteless even with a lime.
Great food, great service. Was able to enjoy a conversation with my date without having to shout.
Our servicer Michael was very tentative to our needs. He made our dinner experience a delight.
I used to like Gus's, but yesterday felt disappointed. The fried chicken was too salty and over-fried (may be cooking oil needed to be filtered or changed new)! The collard greens was way too salty and therefore informed the Manager. Then she told me the Chef agreed too. I sincerely hope that the food quality can be as great as before...
I absolutely would return the Gus's BBQ. We went for breakfast and what a treat. I had the blueberry pancakes, best pancakes I have tasted in a long time. My husband had chicken and waffles, the chicken was delicious and not greasy. My cousin suggested I try the grits. I never had grits before today, but I would surely have them again. I even ordered a side of grits to go.
Our waitress was amazing! I wish I could remember her name. We sat at the first table to the right as you enter the main dining room. The food was great. I’m happy we celebrated my husband‘s birthday there. Let’s not get started on our leftovers that we had for lunch today. So delicious.
Chris was very attentive, we had a great time for my friends birthday
great food and great service! reservations truly help here.
Party of 3 and each of us loved our food.
Best buttermilk pancake in town.
It was perfect.
awesome southern cooking: seafood gumbo, cheese-y grits, catfish, chicken fried steak and gravy
First time back in 2 yrs and it was amazingggg. Highly recommend this place.
Nice warm food and good cocktails on a cold night. No frills. Hot chicken was delicious. Potato salad should be illegal. Probably wouldn’t order the green beans again though.
Been coming to Gus’s Bbq for over 7 years. The service is great. The food is delicious. They have met and exceeded my expectations on every occasion. Last night I celebrate my 36th birthday with great food and excellent service.
Our visit to Gus’s BBQ was to celebrate my birthday, things could’ve been better…first, our waitress was welcoming but she failed to give us refills on our drinks and she forgot (when I asked her) to bring some bbq sauce for our leftovers. There was a “manager figure” roaming around and asking if everything was okay, she was the one that brought me another refill on my ice tea, kudos for her! Also, the meal was ok, I had ordered the rib combo with two meats…green beans were a bit undercooked for my liking and the brisket was a bit dry…I guess I would prefer fattier meat…oh well. My wife’s sausage meal was good…again the beans were undercooked, in our opinion. But to each his/her own, right? All in all, it was just an ok night…but I would still come back…
I've only been here for breakfast and looking forward to having their BBQ. Always great service and the food is WELL above average. I haven't tried everything but I will work my way through the menu eventually. The clincher for me is that this place is across the street from Berry Opera. They have the BEST French pastries in town. I order the pastries a day or two ahead and have a delicious 😋 breakfast with my box of goodies by my side. Perfect weekend indeed.
Not your typical BBQ. Excellent large menu
Many items are special. Skillet cornbread. World class
Choice of BBQ. Memphis or St Kpuis ribs
All sorts meats chicken brisket etc
Creamed corn out of this world. A MUST
Loved the food
I was amazed at the quality of the meal and the variety. Definitely will make this a regular breakfast place.
Great service, always know it will be a fun and filling experience
Love this place , but last night for some reason the ribs were pretty dry.
Great barbecue and smoked meats and chicken. Terrific bar drinks and beautiful ambiance.
Phillip our server was on Point!
Beautiful attitude and personality, offered 5 star service
We had a quiet table in the front room (behind the hostess station. Our waiter, Scott, was attentive and friendly. The kitchen accommodated a small change we requested. The food was delicious.
Maybe Gus’s should do something special for birthday occasions.
Love this place. Always have. Great food and superb service. Extremely careful about all the health protocols.
Everything was great
Loved the food and the service
Made reservations for 6:15 on Sunday. Was seated promptly. Was immediately asked if we wanted a drink from the bar and any appetizers to start. We ordered two drinks and said we wanted to study the menu. She came back with our drinks and asked again about appetizers. We told her that we would pass on the appetizer but were ready to order. I ordered the baby back rib compo with brisket and sausage. She said they were out of baby backs and brisket. Need I remind you that it's 6:15 on a Sunday evening!! I said that I needed a few minutes to see my other options. She came back and I ordered spare ribs and was told they were also out of spare ribs. The impression my wife and I were left with is that instead of telling you right when you are seated that they are out of items that most people come to eat at a BBQ restaurant, they have you order drinks and appetizers knowing that you are less likely to walk out once you find out they are out of the more popular items. The tri-tip that I ultimately decided on was chewy. I find this restaurant noisy and overpriced for what you get. Unfortunately, with Zeke's BBQ in Montrose, which is superior in taste and value, still closed the local BBQ options are limited.
The food was really good.
The food was amazing. It was hard to choose what we wanted off the menu as everything sounded so good. It did not disappoint.
Portions were healthy so we ended up taking home leftovers:)
This was my first visit to Gus. It's a nice, comfortable place and the server was terrific. There was just one major problem: the food ranged from poor to very good, but overall I had to rate it good. Their baby-back ribs were good and meaty, but dull and their sauces didn't help. My sides were mac 'n cheese (very good) and creamed corn (awful). We also ordered their corn bread (fair). They do make a great lemonade. I doubt I will go back.
Waitress was friendly and helpful. Food was great, not a big fan on the bbq sauce choices but other than that great!
Gus’s has great comfort food but we are living in COVID times. Make sure you have a reservation when you dine at Gus’s. Show up at the time of your reservation and not earlier. We arrived 15 minutes earlier than our reservation and had to wait over 20 minutes before we got seated. We can’t blame Gus’s. They were telling people who did not have reservations that they will need to wait. Gus’s cannot seat us right away because the people who had reservations were showing up and needed to be seated first. Eventually, we got our turn and we were able to feast.
I hope things get better soon because I don’t like waiting.
