First time back in 2 yrs and it was amazingggg. Highly recommend this place.
Nice warm food and good cocktails on a cold night. No frills. Hot chicken was delicious. Potato salad should be illegal. Probably wouldn’t order the green beans again though.
Been coming to Gus’s Bbq for over 7 years. The service is great. The food is delicious. They have met and exceeded my expectations on every occasion. Last night I celebrate my 36th birthday with great food and excellent service.
Our visit to Gus’s BBQ was to celebrate my birthday, things could’ve been better…first, our waitress was welcoming but she failed to give us refills on our drinks and she forgot (when I asked her) to bring some bbq sauce for our leftovers. There was a “manager figure” roaming around and asking if everything was okay, she was the one that brought me another refill on my ice tea, kudos for her! Also, the meal was ok, I had ordered the rib combo with two meats…green beans were a bit undercooked for my liking and the brisket was a bit dry…I guess I would prefer fattier meat…oh well. My wife’s sausage meal was good…again the beans were undercooked, in our opinion. But to each his/her own, right? All in all, it was just an ok night…but I would still come back…
I've only been here for breakfast and looking forward to having their BBQ. Always great service and the food is WELL above average. I haven't tried everything but I will work my way through the menu eventually. The clincher for me is that this place is across the street from Berry Opera. They have the BEST French pastries in town. I order the pastries a day or two ahead and have a delicious 😋 breakfast with my box of goodies by my side. Perfect weekend indeed.
Not your typical BBQ. Excellent large menu
Many items are special. Skillet cornbread. World class
Choice of BBQ. Memphis or St Kpuis ribs
All sorts meats chicken brisket etc
Creamed corn out of this world. A MUST
Loved the food
I was amazed at the quality of the meal and the variety. Definitely will make this a regular breakfast place.
Great service, always know it will be a fun and filling experience
Love this place , but last night for some reason the ribs were pretty dry.
Great barbecue and smoked meats and chicken. Terrific bar drinks and beautiful ambiance.
Phillip our server was on Point!
Beautiful attitude and personality, offered 5 star service
We had a quiet table in the front room (behind the hostess station. Our waiter, Scott, was attentive and friendly. The kitchen accommodated a small change we requested. The food was delicious.
Maybe Gus’s should do something special for birthday occasions.
Love this place. Always have. Great food and superb service. Extremely careful about all the health protocols.
Everything was great
Loved the food and the service
Made reservations for 6:15 on Sunday. Was seated promptly. Was immediately asked if we wanted a drink from the bar and any appetizers to start. We ordered two drinks and said we wanted to study the menu. She came back with our drinks and asked again about appetizers. We told her that we would pass on the appetizer but were ready to order. I ordered the baby back rib compo with brisket and sausage. She said they were out of baby backs and brisket. Need I remind you that it's 6:15 on a Sunday evening!! I said that I needed a few minutes to see my other options. She came back and I ordered spare ribs and was told they were also out of spare ribs. The impression my wife and I were left with is that instead of telling you right when you are seated that they are out of items that most people come to eat at a BBQ restaurant, they have you order drinks and appetizers knowing that you are less likely to walk out once you find out they are out of the more popular items. The tri-tip that I ultimately decided on was chewy. I find this restaurant noisy and overpriced for what you get. Unfortunately, with Zeke's BBQ in Montrose, which is superior in taste and value, still closed the local BBQ options are limited.
The food was really good.
The food was amazing. It was hard to choose what we wanted off the menu as everything sounded so good. It did not disappoint.
Portions were healthy so we ended up taking home leftovers:)
This was my first visit to Gus. It's a nice, comfortable place and the server was terrific. There was just one major problem: the food ranged from poor to very good, but overall I had to rate it good. Their baby-back ribs were good and meaty, but dull and their sauces didn't help. My sides were mac 'n cheese (very good) and creamed corn (awful). We also ordered their corn bread (fair). They do make a great lemonade. I doubt I will go back.
Waitress was friendly and helpful. Food was great, not a big fan on the bbq sauce choices but other than that great!
Gus’s has great comfort food but we are living in COVID times. Make sure you have a reservation when you dine at Gus’s. Show up at the time of your reservation and not earlier. We arrived 15 minutes earlier than our reservation and had to wait over 20 minutes before we got seated. We can’t blame Gus’s. They were telling people who did not have reservations that they will need to wait. Gus’s cannot seat us right away because the people who had reservations were showing up and needed to be seated first. Eventually, we got our turn and we were able to feast.
I hope things get better soon because I don’t like waiting.
Great service, food was amazing!
My daughter and I shared the tri-tip and pulled pork. We loved them both. Very tender, juicy and not laden with too much sauce. When we're ever in Pasadena again, we will definitely go there for another delicious dinner!
Service wasn't great, but the food is always yummy!
It had been a year or more since I had eaten at Gus's. I had forgotten how incredibly delicious their food is. I loved the cornbread, ribs, chicken, creamed corn and baked beans. It will not be another year before I return. In fact I plan on returning every week or so.
I enjoy the So. Pasadena location and the Porter Ranch location.
Please ask management to build a location in either San Clemente or San Juan Capistrano!
The onion strings and the sauce that comes with them are outstanding. The portions are large, nevertheless the prices are reasonable. Chances are that you will be bringing food home. The fried chicken is flattened and the crust is light, but with a nice crunch.
Great menu selection, service was prompt and my family and I really enjoyed our meals.
Disaster. Ran out of brisket. Baby backs. St. Louis ribs at eight pm. Put in closet back room. Didn’t honor reservation for main dining room. Been going there for years. Portions small. A joke
great food! creative menu! not a long wait to get in. excellent customer focus
Love this place
This was our first visit to Gus's after years of driving by. We really enjoyed it. Service was friendly, fun and excellent. And the food was very tasty too. Thanks to everyone at Gus's!
They had us when we saw Iron Cast Corn Bread on their menu. Everything in our meals were excellent. Definitely, addictive !!!
Fried chicken meal was excellent: crisp outside while the meat inside remained juicy. Every side was delicious: greens, potato salad, baked beans were all flavorful.
Love this place. Always enjoy coming to this restaurant!
Met a friend for lunch and dined curbside. My steak salad was good, although overdressed (asked waiter for dressing on the side but, well, that isn't what happened). Props to the bartender for creating a sparkling wine cocktail (cucumber, celery, something spicy) which was delish. Didn't rush us which was nice since my friend got lost and was a 1/2 hour late.
Very tasty BBQ with a varied menu for all tastes. The Onion Strings were particularly good. Service was top notch.
Delicious food, clean restaurant, attentive servers,... what more do you need?
Great location, service, food. Just loud/noisy and the space between 4top tables was a bit tight for walking and Server access.
