We went at 5:00 on a Sunday, so we knew that it was honestly early for dinner and late for lunch, so there weren't many people there. The food was excellent, very good service. I can see that on an evening in the summer, this place should be packed. Large bar, lots of seating. For those who don't know, it's the old Gunther Brewery & that means exposed brick, cement floors, wood beams, Edison lights etc. So it would be good for nearly any type of event. The ONLY thing that was disappointing was that on Sunday night, they don't serve the steak. They only have 1 steak option & my husband wasn't interested in the other beef option (a burger). He enjoyed his alternate food choice, but it didn't moo.
Wonderful ambiance and service, food was good but the pretentiousness of refusing to leave cheese off a dish due to alergry eliminates this spot for bringing guests.
After reading several reviews and friends enjoying dinner at Gunther, I was very excited to go for date night. I'm not sure if it was just a bad night for the restaurant but our food took forever to come out, as well as drinks, so much so that I had to cancel my second one because I had already finished my meal and was disappointed and ready to just go home. I left feeling unsatisfied, and my other half left still hungry.. and yes.. he ordered an appetizer and so did I, if thats what you want to call it. We will certainly not be back.
Chicken was dry and with a oily taste.
This was our third visit and we can't wait to go back. Gunther & Co. offers amazing, inventive food with consistently excellent service. They've been very accommodating to our large parties. All in a beautiful setting!
The restaurant atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. Entrees were excellent especially the pork dish. Service was friendly and helpful. The only complaint was the pork and shrimp steamed dumplings which were overdone and dry. We would return again to try other dishes.
Overall, our party did not like the food. I had a flatbread that just wasn't good. 2 ladies had a salad with chicken and vegetables on it and they also didn't care for their food. The same group had been for restaurant week last year and we enjoyed our meals. Not sure what happened this time.
As always, a great meal in a beautiful place. Everyone in our party was delighted with the evening.
This was our first visit to Gunther & Co. We we very impressed. The atmosphere is great, the cocktails and food were excellent. We will definitely be back!
Terrific experience eating at Gunther for the second time. There is a great weekend brunch menu, creative cocktails, a wide range of good beer, and diverse wine. Excellent food prepared thoughtfully and creatively. Both the ambience and decor of the main dining room are very creative - open, lofted, and airy while still conveying a cosy feel at each table. A fantastic restaurant and well worth the ride up I-95 from Washington.
the restaurant was amazing from start to finish...
to walk in and see a bar like that with the surrounding space was so inviting and cool.
I want to return and just sit at the bar and have a drink and some of your yummy apps!
Gunther's was one of the best new restaurants I've been to in a long time. The menu, though not expansive, was creative. I chose a Berkshire pork chop and it was exceptional. Tasty and juicy. The restaurant has a great selection of appetizers. We split some raw oysters and some grilled octopus. Both great. We lucked out on wine. It was wine night with 50% off bottles of wine $80 and under.
Oh, the bar has an incredible selection of bourbons. Check this place out.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time....exceptional.
This was my second visit to the restaurant and I was very pleased on both occasions. My meal was delicious. The service was impeccable and my cocktail was superb. Both of my companions were also very happy with their meals. The wine list is excellent. The one difficulty we had was there need to be more restrooms. All three of us had to wait to use the facilities. Overall I would gleefully recommended Gunther & Co. to friends and co-workers. I will be back myself shortly. Thank you.
Always excellent for brunch! The lemon ricotta doughnuts area a must. We really need to try dinner some time. We prefer to sit in the bar area, which is cozier & quieter than the main restaurant area.
As always Gunther and Co delivered! This was our first time for brunch although we have been there for dinner several times. Cam with friends who didn’t know each other and who had never been to Gunther. Stayed over 2 hours just enjoying the food each other and the ambience. Food was great, from the sparkling fresh oysters to the delicious shashuka, fried oyster fried oyster tacos and an amazing burger. Services was a always welcoming and attentive without being cloying. Our friends were all impressed!
Just about everything was perfect with our experience. Four of the party of 6 had never been before. There was really only 1 hiccup. One person asked if the burger could be served without bacon and without the egg on top. She was initially told the chef would not alter any of his dishes at all! Without arguing my friend said then that she would just have an espresso (or something) while the rest of us ate. The waitress was distressed and asked what could she possibly do to keep the diner happy. In the end the burger was served without both bacon and egg. It just seemed like an odd response when asking to leave something off a dish.
It’s was our 3rd time here and we love how they change up the menu changes. Our waiter suggested an amazing cured fish appetizer that was terrific. Save room for dessert! One of our favorite places to dine at. If you have opportunity- sit at the chefs table.
It was a delightful experience as always. We love dining there!
The food was outstanding as was the service. The coed bathrooms however left much to be desired. They were filthy & strange.
Absolutely wonderful, loved the food and the service.
Always good. Re-purposed industrial building, free parking, great variety of fresh oysters.
Great for foodies. Cool space. Beautifully crafted cocktails.
Loved the Thai Butternet Squash soup! The apple beet salad with shrimp was very good. Has a very nice lunch. Haven’t been to Canton in a long time. Very easy to park and felt safe in the area. Nice restaurant with lots of natural light.
1st Time At Gunther and co. Excellent service and food. Easy convenient parking. Complimentary birthday dessert very nice surprise. Extensive menu options and specials.
A stripped down processing plant decor upon entrance, which leads via their brick hallway to the larger dining area. Lunch is often just the front/raw bar area. Attentive staff and a very visually pleasing experience. The bathroom sink is shared, the stalls are separated. Would return for dinner on a second occasion, esp. for the upstairs second floor by the living wall.
Came here for dinner while visiting B’more Inner Harbor from out of state. It was the Sunday night of President’s weekend and fairly quiet. We ate off the Sunday kitchen menu (staff is given free rein to create the menu of the day). I had the spinach salad w apples, toasted filberts and champagne vinaigrette for a starter and sweet potato farrotto for my main course. Both were delicious. The overall vibe was very nice. We enjoyed our meal and would recommend to others.
Really like the space. 1st time and we’ll be back!
Great experience, solid food.
An excellent meal. Food and drinks were great. Only minor glitch was our server had many specials and a "first time to Gunther" presentation that did occupy a lot of his time at other tables.
Great meal and service. We booked a "bar" table and it is a completely different room in the restaurant from the tall ceilings and giant plant wall. It was cozy and more casual, but a great experience.
Great food and unique cocktails. They even had 2 newly added mocktails! Which was great since one person in our party doesn’t drink so it provided an option other than soda or water.
We recently dined for the 1st time at Gunther & Co. and were very satisfied to say the least. Lets start with city parking...not a problem at all. The restaurant is spacious and tables have lots of space in between. The bar and restaurant are in separate spaces, which makes for two very different vibes, depending on what you are looking for. Interior architecture & decor is industrial, but cozy. Our server was the perfect balance between proffesional & friendly and she was well-versed on the menu and evening's specials. The hand-crafted cocktails were exceptional and the beer & wine list had something for everyone. Every aspect of our meal was fantastic, from the raw bar, the regular dinner offerings, and the specials that day. Fresh ingredients, creativity, and presentation were spot-on. Also, if cost is an issue, Gunther & Co. is an incredible value for the ambiance, quality of food, and level of service we received. We will definitely go back.
OMG! F*#% That was good! Most amazing scallops I’ve ever had! And I’ve had some good scallops! Forgot to take pics before but clearly it was good - no doggy bag... I always, always have a doggie bag! 😢 And the service is outstanding! No weird interruptions, always there when you need something- they know the food and the drinks!!!! I love when a sever can make a reliable suggestion and give good feedback when asked questions! Tom was our server and he was perfect! We will be back!
Awesome as always! Amazing vegan options.
We went for an early Valentine's day dinner. The atmosphere is nice and the food was good, with a few hiccups. We each had a cocktail - mine was one "on tap" and hers wasn't. Both were quite good. The short rib was practically fall off the bone, as it should be, and was delicious. The kimchi potatoes were a fuzz spicier than I prefer, but that's just me. The hiccup here was with the greens (chard?) - some of it was gritty, as if it hadn't been fully washed. She had the daily rockfish special. It had a lovely butter/cream sauce and was nice and flaky... for half of it. The other half was noticeably undercooked. Not sure if that side was thicker, frozen, or just on the cold side of the pan/stove. They took it back, fixed it, and the manager offered her apologies. No fuss and it was taken care of quickly, a bit disappointed that it happened though. I'm sure we'll try it again sometime.
My husband and I dined at Gunther and Co for an early Valentines date. What a lovely experience! Food was delicious, service superb, and great atmosphere—as always.
We brought guest and they raved about the place.
My wife dine at Gunther & Co. for Sunday Brunch. We were not going to be able to have our usual Valentine’s Day Dinner. So, we chose Brunch instead. This was our first time eating there. We loved the restaurant from the moment we entered until we left. The drinks were creative and tasty. Our meals were excellent. I had their French toast and my wife had the shrimp and grits. I never order French toast because I just don’t like it, but the description in the menu sounded so good. Boy, did they ever deliver. It was excellent. My wife raves about the shrimp and grits. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable. My restaurant is just beautiful, using exposed brick, creative lighting and fun plantings. We can’t wait to return.
The service was impeccable - wish I had caught the server's name so I could let management know. Our table got a variety of appetizers and then some bar food. The brussel sprouts were
fabulous; among the best roasted sprouts I have ever eaten. The pork chop special was a nice size and well done. The person who ordered the ravioli dish thought it was great. I thought it disappointing in the amount that was served - 4 pieces? Overall, I would rate the food as good to very good but a little over-priced. I don't know if the other people we went with would agree. I know one couple loves the food; they have been to the restaurant before.
The ambience was fine - seating comfortable, a little on the loud side but it was a Saturday night.
Also, the sign(s) to use the handicapped entrance were confusing. There was only one sign at the front entrance that suggested it was down an alley on the left when facing the restaurant. It led to a locked door. We had to inquire inside to find out what other entrance(s) they had that was wheel chair accessible.
